If you had to pick from Boardwalk, animal kingdom, or OKW. What resort would you pick as you home property? And why?

I actually picked OKW - I love the theming and that the studios have 2 queen beds. It was also cheaper upfront and has lower dues (i.e. lowest overall cost of ownership). I don't care about the 2042 end date due to my age. Bus only for access to the parks, but the boat to Disney Springs is nice.

I've stayed at BWV. Love the theming there. It also has a 2042 end date. It's mostly appealing for the standard priced villas (or boardwalk view villas if you prefer that) and being able to walk to epcot and Hollywood Studios.

AKV has the latest end date of the 3, at 2057, and the best theming (with the animals) IMO. It's worth owning there for access to value villas and club level villas (although both can still be tough to get for owners, as they are so limited in number). Like OKW, it only offers bus access to the parks. Annual dues tend to be a little higher. Also, if you are booking savanna view or standard rooms, it is fairly easy to own elsewhere and book at AKV, so there is little home resort advantage.

I think if you really adore Boardwalk, you have to own there to have a chance. Otherwise, it's really about end date, as you can get OKW at 7 months easily enough, and most AKL rooms at 7 months. I am seeing similar resale costs for each, but AKL has a higher cost of ownership at this point with dues.

After owning for 6 years and knowing what I know, of the 3 choices I would choose BWV.

If being in an Epcot resort is important to you you really need to own there, despite the end date.

For us, it's a quality of life thing. We own at BLT and after a couple of years realized it was important to add an Epcot resort so we bought a BCV contract. We found we did not need to own at OKW or AKV to stay there even though we enjoy both of them. Ultimately it comes down to where we are most emotionally connected. For the record OKW is DH's favorite resort.

BWV. Pretty much need to own there for the point saving standard views or amazing BW view rooms. If you plan to stay F&W-January, plan to book at 11 month window.

You really need to stay at all 3 to make your own decision. Each have pluses and minuses that may make a difference only to you.

Last year I owned at all 3...OKW, BWV and AKV (as well as HHI). We sold the AKV because we could use the OKW points at 7 months out to book AKV and we made a profit on the sale.

We first bought OKW in 2006 and bought there to get the most points for $16K. Then we added HHI because we wanted to alternate beach and WDW trips and we found it tough to book HHI in the summer months. Then we bought the AKV and it was kind of on a whim. We were trying to add to our HHI points but the deal fell through and we were about to plan a family Xmas trip where SIL also owned AKV points so we bought there too in order to use for the big family Xmas trip. It is our, me and DH's, very FAVE resort. But we like savanna view and find we can easily book that at the 7 month window.

Then, we fell in love with going to F&W in 2013 so we came home and added 80 BWV points direct to book F&W every year. I have wanted to sell the OKW points and actually would have rather sold those instead of the AKV...but MIL and FIL love to do OKW in January and they pay us to use our points so DH won't sell those. If I could own any combo (if I win powerball tonight) I would own HHI (for beach trips), BCV (for F&W), AKV (for club level) and VWL (for Xmas trips). So then I guess, to answer your question, it would be AKV...but that's if I am stinking rich. If just a regular person, I'd say BWV.

But just an aside...we bought BWV over BCV (even though direct price was the same for both) so that we could save points by booking standard view at BWV. We have since come to learn that is tough to do even as an owner and going online right at 8am on the day of the 11 month window (for studios and 2BR villas...1BR villas seem to be easier). So if that's part of your plan, you might want to bear that in mind. Very lastly, would OKW be on my list to buy...and SSR.

Of those three, BWV. There's no reason to own AKV unless you will always book club or value rooms there. There's no reason to own OKW unless you need a cheap Grand Villa all the time. BWV has too much going for it. Of those three, anyway.

Of those 3 it really depends on how I planned to use it. For BWV standard view, I'd likely go with BWV. Otherwise I'd go with AKV over OKW but price could sway me with any of the 3 taking into account RTU expiration. For OKW I'd go for 2057 but OKW scares me in general due to the long term dues risk after the resort is scaled down. Unless one plans to take advantage of the options of owning at any of those resorts, I personally wouldn't go with any of them. For example, if one will use the value at AKV most of the time or the concierge, AKV might be a good choice. For BWV, standard of BW view. For OKW the 3 BR. Just to get points to use here and there, I think SSR & BLT both are better choices even if one never plans to stay at either resort and with the higher BLT price. One can get into AKV for standard or OKW other than 3 BR most anytime with planning. Even for BWV one can get in much of the time in preferred. SSR will be about 20% cheaper than AKV same number of points.

We watched a video on BWV and we just don't care for the rooms. It reminds us of our grandmothers' houses. Lol. We like being able to walk to Epcot though.

Visit and look at the rooms, I think you'll like it better than you can get from a video.

They just did a refurbishment and the rooms are less grandmotherly. Not very Jersey shore either but more modern. Still very pretty. OKW resort seems like a retirement community to me. It's my MIL and FIL's very fave resort.

I think you buy OKW if you really don't care a lot where you stay. There is almost no home booking advantage to being an OKW owner.

Other than maybe the 3 BR, I'd agree. If OKW is the focus, one can buy cheaper (or a destination resort) and book there consistently.

And for booking the hospitality house section. MIL and FIL love being close to HH at OKW.

BWV is our favourite for location and standard point rooms. We also own at OKW, but those points were bought dirt cheap. AKV I would never buy because it is cheaper to own SSR and book at AKV. And while AKV has value rooms, they are hard to get even owning AKV.
