Wow, I had three days to catch up on! You're moving fast, girl!
I loooove Amber's Minnie top-- the sparkles on the bow are really cute! I also love that you had to buy a couple more birthday presents for her just to fill out the cloth bag! That's ALWAYS the problem I have with gift bags-- I hate to see them half empty!
It seems like Amber really had an amazing birthday!! I'm sorry that were was a theme of bad service though! I probably would have said something snarky to the woman that said "Watch out for the rock" three times! You got it-- it's not like you were ignoring her and skinning your foot and bleeding!
Glad the cake was perfect-- but uh, duh! Who wouldn't want candles on a BIRTHDAY cake! He should have gathered up the other waiters to sing to Amber! I also hate when waiters point out the different tip options. Clearly, if the service was good enough, you'd tip him well! It seems only the bad ones are that obnoxious!

Sunday 29th August 2010 – Day 8

Jonathan was up early today as he was playing golf on the Magnolia course. Amber and I woke about 7:30 and made our way over to the main buliding for our breakfast at 1900 Park Fare.

It was a good breakfast and the characters were fun. The funniest bit was when Amber said to Tigger – “Do you remember Tigger when we bounced together at Disneyland Paris”. Bless him – he nodded!!

We popped back to the room to take our picture that I had bought and then made our way over to the Monorail station.

Once in the Magic Kingdom we queued up to meet Daisy Duck. It was sooooo hot!

Amber and I had a couple of photopass pictures taken and then I had to buy her a spray fan. We just couldn’t get cool!

We browsed through a couple of shops. I have to say it was August 2008 that Amber came into her own with the shops! She is now a killer shopper! Now … I can shop – but Amber … she is a whole different ball game. She shops til she drops!!

I managed to drag her out and into Adventureland where we met Ariel and Eric.

We went on Pirates of the Carribean which is always great fun and when we came out we bumped into Pirate Goofy.

As we walked around to Frontierland, baking in the process, we got fastpasses for Big Thunder Mountain and rode Splash Mountain! It was so fun and we were really grateful for the Splash!!

After riding Big Thunder Moutain it was so hot that we decided to head back to the hotel.

We caught the boat back over which was so lovely and peaceful and the views were beautiful!

We each had a piece of birthday cake which was just as delicious!

Jonathan then arrived back from golf so we went over to Gaspirillas to have lunch. Jonathan and I both had the chicken tenders – there were so many we should have shared a portion! Amber had a hot dog.

We drove over to the Studios straight after lunch. When we got in we went straight over to get fastpasses for the Rock n Roller Coaster.

It was unbearably hot today. We went into the Art of Animation Building to try and see some characters. They all had really big queues but was stayed in there for a while soaking up the air conditioning!!

Day 8 Continued ...


When we came out it was time for the Block Party Bash so we shaded under a tree to watch.

After a little walk around we noticed that there was no wait for the Backlot Tour so went on that. I feel that they need to add something to this now – it is getting rather dull. I love looking at all the old props though!!

We were all now getting a little crancky now in the heat so decided to go straight over to Mama Malrose – it was now about 3:30 and our reservation was at 3:50 but at least we could wait in the cool. *

We were called in dead on time and seated in the centre of the restaurant. We had the mosserella salad to start and then the Chicken Parmigiana – it was really nice. I had the Tiramisu for dessert which wasn’t very nice but seeing as I was so full anyway it was probably a blessing – I wouldn’t have been able to move!!

When we came out I persuaded Jonathan to watch the American Idol Experience. I love the X Factor back home but he only watches it because of me. Do you know – we loved it! Amber did as well. There was somebody from England singing so she got our vote. It was really well done and definitely something I would watch again.

It was now time for our Fastpass onto the Rock n Roller Coaster. It was Ambers first time so she sat with Jonathan and I sat along – this was becoming the norm for the holdiay. Amber absolutely loved it. We had to buy they picture because her little face was so funny!

When we came out we noticed that the queue for fantasmic was already really long so we went through the entrance for the priority seating and were shown to where we could sit.

We spent a good 45 minutes talking to a lovely family from Canada who were laughing at our Country when we come to a standstill with an inch of snow. We were amazed that they don’t shut there schools until the tempreture reaches -45!!!!!

Fantasmic was as fantastic as always and when it finished it didn’t take anywhere as long to get out as I was expecting. Once back at the hotel we all went for a late swim – it was absolute bliss!!

Once back to the room we thought we would have a late night snack of some cake but when we looked at the Mad Hatter cake it was smashed to pieces!! Couldn’t have liked the air –conditioning! It was still edible!!

We flopped into bed exhausted!!

Easy peasy!! We stuff them into my husbands golf bag!!! Believe me it was a squeeze this year so she knows it can't happen again. We had a generous luggage allowance this year of 46KG each (split between 2 cases) but next year we only have 23KG, although I am going to pay ahead for an extra case.

When we checked in the airline said "is it just sports equipment in the golfbag or are there clothes in there". We replied with "there aren't any clothes in there" !!! Sneaky I know and we wouldn't risk it again.

The little creatures all breathed a sigh of relief when we unloaded them at home!

lovely day in the World!
we have booked Mama Melrose's for the first time this December... quite interested to try it - I like the look of the decor!

Lol we did exactly the same with DF's golf bag last summer.. it was stuffed full of clothes & souvenirs... and my suitcase was still 5kg over the limit luckily, another suitcase in the party was only 18kg, so I was there at the DTD check-in, frantically repacking the bags
it's so hard when you love Disney and shopping, not to go a bit overboard with the souvenirs!

Btw I'm putting late night swimming at the GF on our 'to do' list for honeymoon!

Wow, you guys have done so much- this is like my dream trip! My parent's took me to WDW for the first time on my 9th birthday and I remember every moment of that trip- I am sure Amber will remember this trip forever too

Yum, that sticky toffee pudding looks good, we fell in love with that when visiting England and I think we ordered it about 5 times while we were there!

Can't wait to see the rest!
