Opinions please!

We are heading to Tampa for a wedding in November. The wedding is Friday night. Assuming we don't have a terrible case of the Irish Flu ;), I would LOVE to drive to Disney on Saturday. We will have a rental car.

So - if you were to arrive at Disney at 10 a.m. on a Saturday the week before Thanksgiving, what would YOU do? Get a day pass to a park? Shop Downtown Disney and have dinner at resort? Ride around on the monorail? I need some ideas please!

I would do a park, but go in with your eyes wide open. MK would be my choice, but as a non-party day it is likely to have very high crowds.

I have never heard the expression Irish flu. Curious if you are Irish? Obviously, head to Raglan Road and have some Guinness. We saw La Nouba once, it was fun. I wouldn't pay for a day at MK arriving late at that time of year, but if you do, it will be crowded.

I would not go to the Magic Kingdom the Saturday before Thanksgiving unless you are prepared not to do too much. It will be very busy. My choice would be either minigolf followed by shopping/eating at Disney Springs or Epcot.

Since you'll be in Tampa, have you considered Busch Gardens?

MK will probably be very crowded, so I'm not sure it would be worth the money, but that's subjective. The Christmas decorations will be up, so that's always good to see. If you buy your tickets in advance and are able to get FP+ attractions, you know for sure you're getting on 3 rides and can deal with lines for the others you want to go on. You could always go to DTD, see the holiday decorations at the resort and have a nice Disney meal outside the parks.

We had a similar debate after we got off the Disney Cruise, whether to go to Universal or Disney for a day. But there were six of us and one day admission was going to be big. We ended up at DTD, then the Polynesian and rode the monorail around. I wanted to change monorails to the EPCOT one, since I could have at least said I went in a park, but got outvoted. But at least I got a Dole Whip float!

It's the Guinness that causes the 'Irish Flu' if taken in large amounts. To the OP, we'd hit Epcot, catch a few rides then stroll WS.

Because people tend to go elsewhere on party days, knowing the park closes early.

So does that mean MK will be the least crowded park until 4PM? I've heard that the park gets crowded between 4PM-7PM for the transition, and that the parties can be very uncomfortable too

For a crowded weekend like that, we would do Epcot WS. No FP needed, and the crowds aren't a big deal there. If you know for sure you are going to do this, you can order a 1 day ticket ahead of time and pre-book maybe a Soarin FP, and then get lost in WS. Then maybe take a walk around the boardwalk before heading back.

It would be hard not to go to a park, but I think I would just tour all the deluxe resorts to see Christmas décor and have a nice meal somewhere.
