3/24/07 Western Magic

I was out on the new Disney.com site yesterday and noticed the movie trailer for 'Meet the Robinsons'. It is scheduled to be released on March 30th, which is during our cruise. When we cruised on Disney in 2001, the movie 'Max Keeble's Big Move' premiered in theaters - and we got to see it in the Walt Disney theater on one evening. So I am thinking that maybe they will do the same with 'Meet the Robinsons'??

I'm sure they will -- and that will be fun . . . so does everyone feel they are already set for this cruise? All plans and excursions made? We seem like a very relaxed group, which is great.

We have no excursions planned and I'm wondering if I should change that. We are signed up for Stingrays at CC, I really just want to have good comfortable beach days at the other ports, hopefully with snorkeling (we've got our own equipment).

If what you want is snorkeling at a beach, it should be easy to take a taxi from the ports in Grand Cayman and Cozumel to nice beaches -- you don't need an excursion. I'm less sure about Key West -- from what I've seen, the beaches aren't all that nice and you might have to get someone to take you on a boat to nicer areas. I think we just plan to get off at Key West and walk around.

Can't believe the cruise is so close now. After waiting for over a year it really seems just around the corner. It will be here before we know it. YEAH!!!

My kids just had the last two days off for snow days, can't wait to visit somewhere where there is NO CHANCE of SNOW!

Hi
We are sailing on the 3/24/07 Western Magic too. We are 2 families:
myself, DH, DD14, DD11, DD8
friends- DH, DW, DD12, DS8
I have read many posts over the last couple months. This is my first post.

I also have a DD8 on this cruise(first cruise)- she is registered for the Oceaneer Lab - let me know if you would like to be in contact before the cruise. We are flyinging into Orlando on the 21st and staying at Universal Studios.

I started to look into excursions and am wondering if there is a family who would like to share a private day charter to Stingray City, the Reef and Rum Point Beach? I have a six year old boy and girl and 10 yo boy, don't know how the younger ones will feel about snorkeling...

Please PM me if interested.

We aleady booked the Captain Marvin's (not the private charter). My DD snorkeled when she was 6 and loved it. I brought her life jacket from home so she would feel secure. I think that gave her more bouyancy and confidence.

All my fellow midwesterners-Good luck with tomorrow's snow. I'm hoping we get lucky up north. Stay warm We'll be in the Caribbean soon!

I think a lot of us booked Captain Marvin! A little over 5 weeks (or less than 6 weeks, depending on whether you are a half-empty or half-full kind of person!) to go . . .

Snowing like crazy - but at least we are talking inches and not feet like in New York! The kids were quite disappointed to not have a snow day - but we are only supposed to get 4- 8 inches.

Only 39 more days! Woo Hoo!! :woohoo:

What will you guys do after Captain Marvins?

We just want to hang out at a beach for a while after Captain Marvin's (they will apparently drop you off at a beach rather than back at the port if you want) then go into the shopping area near the port for a while before making it back to the ship.

Hi everyone - I'm finally back from my trial, so now I can start getting excited. Unfortunately, weeks of eating on the run and meals out (whats a vegetable?) has left me completely unfit to wear a swimsuit!! luckily, I'm too tired to care, I just want to go somewhere without snow!

Hi pclaire! Glad to have you back after your trial . . .

We're a very accepting group and don't care about what you look like in a swimsuit -- just get ready for relaxation.

thanks Bellelinus - are your girls starting to get excited? it looks from your post that maybe you are going on the Aug 2008 repo cruise? that sounds great. If you are, I'll give you my tips on the Mexican ports.

Yes, my girls are getting very excited! And yes, we did manage to get a reservation on the August 2008 repo cruise, and I've never been to any of those ports (except LA) so I would appreciate any tips you have. (Maybe over Palo brunch!?). I don't usually do the ship excursions, so I'm looking to do things on our own . . .

We will talk about over brunch! I wont have too much to offer, except for a great horseback riding trip in Mazatlan

Believe it or not, we're not doing Mazatlan on the repo . . . I have looked into horseback excursions in Cabo and Aruba, though.

It just hit me today how soon this cruise is, so we will be discussing this in person before we know it!

Hi All...It's 38 degrees (balmy for us for those in the south)in northwest Indiana, but soon to change to sleet and freezing rain. From spring to winter in 6 hours! We are booking Bucaneer for snorkeling in GC, we motor out to the reefs and sailboat back in....sort of cool!

What are people doing in Cozumel? My girlfriend just got back from Cozumel in December and said the beaches are still somewhat beat up from Wilma. Very narrow, seaweedy, and the water was not clear when snorkeling from shore. She said their wasn't much to do at this port except shop for touristy stuff. She ended up at a private beach club, at $40 a pop. It included food, drinks, and a really great pool area (swim-up bar, games, etc.) But, my DS (10) isn't going to be drinking and eating $40 worth of stuff. And for what I am paying on the Magic, we can spend time on the near empty ship and eat the food we already paid for.

We don't want to snorkel since we will be in GC snorkeling the whole day. She recommended Paradise beach for a short while if we wanted to do something, maybe a bit of shopping, and then back to the ship. We have 8 ships :scared1: in port that day, so Paradise beach and the shops will be crowded. What do you all think?

ISCRK's husband chiming in here....

I'm looking for 2-4 people to share a 1/2 day fishing charter in Cozumel. Me and my 13 year old son are interested. The price of a 1/2 day trolling charter is around $400 for 4-6 people. We will be in Cozmel Wenesday 3/28.

If interested PM the wife (ISCRK) or respond on the boards.

ISCRK here....I'm NOT going deep sea fishing. This is a vacation...why would I want to catch my own dinner? That is what restaurants are for....hahaha:rotfl:
