I find it very curious that there is a curb around the pool. Do you think they might be putting flagstone over the concrete deck? It seems like a trip hazard as it is. Also, someone reported talking with a worker some time ago who said the splash zone would be built later in the area of the pink stakes (Tony?). Do you think the stakes will be the construction wall for the next phase as they build the splash zone after opening the pool? That would jibe with them marking the edge of the concrete and attaching to the building. Just a theory.
Shan- I am not sure about the flagstone, but I think something is going to be done on the rough surfaces that still exist on the "curbs" around the kiddie pool and the large pool. I was also wondering about access for the disabled. On some of Disney's pools, they built special areas for access for those in wheelchairs. It is like a small platform with a handrail. I would think that something like this will be incorporated into this pool somewhere.
You might be right about the pink flagged stakes merely marking a new construction fence. This could be some type of second phase to the project, which would explain why this area was not started until later. This area could be fenced off and worked on after the pool is opened. The only thing is that it doesn't make sense for me that there would be so much detail about the stake placement. I mean, would it really be necessary to have all these stakes for just a construction fence.
Does anyone think that the additions to the building might be an expansion of the counter service? FW always gets criticized for not having any quick service, and in these days of dining plans (and especially the new QSDP) that is something that is sorely needed at the fort.
Just a thought.

I think that is a valid theory. I don't think they would be adding a companion restroom here, as someone suggested on another thread. There is room to do that over by the existing restrooms. A small counter service restaurant would work well in this location. Maybe something the size of the counter service restaurant at Wilderness Lodge, or even something a little smaller. If the arcade was moved into the space occupied by the current snack bar, and the current arcade space was expanded by a building addition, I think there would be enough room to put something like that in here. The other thought I had was that this could be a bar. Like the bar they have poolside at Wilderness Lodge. That also would do well here. This edge of the building is just a few steps away from the bridge that is behind the Meadow Trading Post. That is about as central a location as there is in the campground. There is a lot of foot traffic by this area, not only for the pool, but also for the trading post and campfire. A small restaurant/bar with tables and chairs outside would do well here.
But, this is probably going to be some lame little addition to house pool equipment or something.
Fantastic job as usual. I'm a little disappointed that I didn't see any of the fake concrete stumps used to house the water/elec. in the 600 loop.
I think they are going away from the fake stumps. When we were in the 200 loop 2 years ago right after they finished the electrical upgrade and couldn't get the stump to work. One of the Electricians pointed out the new electrical box at the rear of the site.
The last time I pulled into a camp spot I backed into a tree when I was leaving. That's how I got my outside shower(It hid the hole from the bike handlebar)
Yes, the fake stumps seem to have lost favor with Fort Management. The fake stumps were removed from the 1400 loop, even before the latest renovation. And, as far as I know, there never were any on the 1600-1900 loops. Interestingly enough, the existing fake stumps were left on the 600 and 800 loops during the recent renovations. They even got new paint jobs. I am not sure, but I think they were also left on the 400, 500, 1200 and 1300 loops. I'll have to double check next time I'm at the Fort.
This area would make the most sense for a splash zone. It's next to the kiddie pool, and close to where the slide steps will presumably begin based upon TCD's photos. If they do indeed build a splash zone I'd be surprised if it went in the other end of the pool area.
Agreed. If there is going to be a splash zone, this would be the most logical place for it. It is out of the way of the ingress and egress to the pool area, and close to the kiddie pool, so smaller kids, who I think are the primary users of this type of attraction, would have easy access to both features.
