2nd time using FL TOURS-- unfortunately, disappointed this time

Let me start by saying that we first used their service on our October 2003 trip to WDW, and everything was wonderful. So we tried them again. . .this is our story:

2/06/05-2/10/05

THE GOOD: Our driver Andy was there right on time and very friendly. He graciously helped with our luggage in and out of the vehicle. We enjoyed speaking with him very much while driving to WL.

THE BAD: Although we confirmed the pick up date and time, NO ONE SHOWED UP TO PICK US UP ON OUR DEPARTURE DATE AND TIME. We called FL TOURS and were told that a driver was on his way. Then we called back about 15-20 minutes later and were told that there was some problem with the system or something and that WE WERE NOT GOING TO BE PICKED UP.

Although we were reimbursed for half of the pre-paid round-trip and received an apology, we were running late because of waiting for this DIS-sponsored and highly rated car service, we had to find another form of transportation while running late, and we paid a lot more because of all this.

THE VERDICT: I know that despite the circumstances, we were treated very fairly. But we will not likely use them again because of the unreliability of their service on this trip.


If anyone wants to respond with stories of how their experience was great with FL TOURS, just know that this does not change my choice to no longer use that service. I am happy for everyone that had wonderful experiences with them. . .I just wish I was one of them this time:)!

I totally agree - short of a weather emergency there is no excuse for a car service not picking you up. Worse yet they told you they were coming - then you find out later they are not simply running late - they flat out are not coming. If you hadn't called back to question them the second time you very well may have missed your flight.

I think a great company would have made things better than they did - they left you hanging only offering to refund 1/2 your what you had pre-paid. If they could not fullfil there contract they should have found someone who could - at there expense. They should have called another limo company or a cab, and had it rushed to pick you up to get to the airport. At least that would be my expectations. Things come up, but you judge really good companies and people by how they respond to problems. In my opinion you got so-so treatment at best (the bare minimum that I would consider acceptable).

Under the circumstances you describe I also would not use this company again. I'd take my chances with someone else.

It's really a shame since FL TOURS is a big sponsor of the DIS. I even told Andy that I was a DISer and that we enjoyed their services on a previous trip. . .and that I always report about my trip. I did receive an email asking about our recent experience with them from them. . .I hope they read it and take it as constructive criticism.

Thanks for taking the time to give us a report. I think it's always important to hear the good and the bad. I know it can be intimidating at times to post but again, I believe it's necessary.
 

I'm sorry to hear of your unhappy experience. That must have been very stressful, scrambling to get to the airport in time. :eek: Thanks for posting your experience. I think you were very fair in your assessment of all that happened. Hopefully FL Tours will solve whatever caused the problem, so nobody else goes through the same thing.
 
I had a truly awful experience with FL Tours in December and when I tried to warn others of my experience I got flamed at like crazy. It was like FL Tours was a sacred subject or something. The point being that they are not perfect.

I paid for a van, and was picked up by like an SUV thing, which was very hard for my disabled Mother to get into and we barely fit with a baby and stroller, etc.

I was picked up by a car which we COULD NOT fit in. When I complained about it the driver dialed a number on his cell phone without explaining a thing and simply handed it to me. I had to actually ask who I was even talking to. It was the weirdest experience. I ended up talking to I think Andy and he said he would give us our money back. He never did. Instead he said we could have free transportation "next time" - like we would ever try and use him again.

We ended up taking a taxi, which the FL Tours driver paid for as we refused to - we had already paid for FL Tours to take us!

S0 - the moral is, good or bad, it can go either way with town cars.

Oh - and also, when we were getting our luggage (mind you I had a Mother in a wheelchair and a baby in a stroller) the driver let us get everything ourselves as he talked to another person/driver and when we finally got the luggage off of the carousel and in a pile, the driver looked at us and asked us why we did not have a cart or a porter helping us. (Isn't he supposed to be helping us?) He said, "You arent having it taken care of??"

You were not treated fairly. FL Tours should have found you transporation or at least paid the extra cost for a cab.
