2BR at BCV at the 7 month window

Any help is much appreciated. We are struggling with the DVC purchase decision. We have stayed at BCV twice and love the place, but the premium over OKW in point cost is extremely daunting. We usually travel as 5, so we would envision that a 2BR is necessary.

I know that BCV is tight and that there are many people here who suggest that the best way to ensure that we can stay there is to buy there. Is this true for 2BR units as well, or does anyone have good experiences getting 2BR's at BCV while having a home resort elsewhere? Other key information about us:

1. We can only vacation during school breaks.
2. We will not be crushed to stay somewhere other than BCV. We would just like to know that we can stay there again.

The first to book-up are typically the 2BR, then studios, then 1BRs. If you can only vacation during school breaks, you really need to be a member to expect to get the 2BR on an reliable basis. If you can be happy staying at OKW five years out of six, then you should be okay buying in at OKW. Otherwise, buy in to BCV.

We are a family of 5 and also vacation during school breaks. Even though BCV is my home resort and I can use the 11-month window, my problem is I can not usually book until 5 or 6 months out. My kids play sports and we need to schedule around games.

I think you can book BCV using the wait list at the 7-month window. I have recently seen posts by individuals who had just had their wait list fill for BCV in July & August of 2006.

Be sure to book right at the 7-month window if possible. Have them do your wait list on a day-by-day basis, as opposed of trying to book for the entire week all in one shot. Also ask for "automatic confirmation."

When on the wait list, the key word will be "wait." I am going to the DVC resort in Vero Beach and need a 2-bedroom from July 29th to August 5th. I went on the wait list February 27th and only had 3 of 7 days confirmed. I picked up one day in March and just last week I picked up some additional days and now have 6 out of 7 confirmed. I am still waiting on that last day. Good luck!

We just recently had to make this same decision. We decided to go with OKW.

We visited all of the resorts earlier this month and liked BCV and OKW the best. We couldn't see paying a premium for BCV if you couldn't be guaranteed to be able to book a room there (some have even had problems at 11 months out during the busy time of early December).

We really like OKW and wouldn't mind staying there every time, but, we also found we liked switching resorts. So, our strategy was to buy at OKW, and then see what was available when we made our ressies (or possibly wait list). If we could spend some days at OKW and a night or two at BCV or BWV, great! If not, that would be just fine too!

Since you have the washer and dryer, you can pack light. We just checked our bags with Bell Services, spent the morning in the park, checked into the next resort and our bags were there. It was like two vacations in one. The BVW were "hustle and bustle," and OKW was quiet and relaxing.

Waitlists do seem to come through, and I think especially if you book at 7 months out. Here's someone who waitlisted and got a studio, when they cancelled a 2 bedroom at BCV.

Of course, there are no guarantees, it depends on personality type. Buy where you think you'll manage best.

We have booked BCV at 7 and even 6 months for a 2 bedroom many times in the summer and never wait listed. We also did not book day by day.

Have not tried other times.

I would still recommend purchasing where you want to stay as there is truly no way to know if booking at 7 months will continue.

Unless you will not or can not plan your trip more than 7 months in advance then were you purchase becomes a moot point.

I own at BCV and tried to make my reservations for this August with the first 2 or 3 days just at the 7 month window and it was booked for a 2 bedroom. I got all of my remaing days, but after that I saw why people say to buy where you want to stay. If BC is where I wanted to stay, then that is where I would buy, even with the premium.

If you are satisfied to stay somewhere else if you can't get BCV, then I would purchase OKW. We own at VWL and OKW, but prefer BCV. I always make a reservation at my home resort at the 11 month window. Then, at the 7 month window, I call and try to change the reservation to BCV. I've always had to waitlist, but it's always come through. I however, wouldn't be terrible upset if I didn't get the BCV. I do like the other resorts, but I really LOVE being able to walk to Epcot!!!! BTW, I always have to travel school vacations or during the summer as well. And, I've done the waitlist with 2bdrms, 1 bdrms, and studios. You have to do what's comfortable for you (and your wallet!)

I was able to book BCV at the 7 month window for the 3rd week in August if that helps. I think that booking the latter half of August has more availability at the 7 month window for all of the resorts.

Where I ran into trouble was for August 16th & 17th. I tried to book that at the 7 month plus a day or two. It was completely booked for a 2 bedroom. It wound up being fine since I like to stay at a MK resort for a few days. We are staying at the GF with the free dining.

You can stay there just about anytime you like, call (407) W-DISNEY. They'll have a 2 bedroom for you, often on short notice.

We stayed in a 2BDR at the Beach Club this past Spring Break. April 2-7.

We had originally made the ressie for a Boardwalk Standard View 2BDR at the 11 month window. (Own at BWV) I did not waitlist but at the 7 month window I called MS and was able to switch the ressie to the Beach Club.

We may just have got lucky.

In just under 7 weeks, we'll be checking into a 2br at BCV...but I booked day-by-day at 7 months.

If you buy BCV, I would recommend only using your points at BCV since you are paying a hefty premium for the points. If you book anywhere else, you're in effect "trading down" value wise.

I was able to book a 2 BR at BCV at the 7 month window for 3 nights August 2005. (I don't remember the exact dates, but it was August 20 something.) I did not even have to book day by day. Due to an unforeseen accident, I had to cancel the reservation in the beginning of August so someone's waitlist dreams came true last summer. Just 2 weeks ago, I was able to book a 2 BR at BCV for a Friday and Saturday night in June. (June 16-17.) I am waitlisting for the Sunday and Monday nights at BCV, but I'm booked at a SSR 2 BR. We own and love SSR, so I won't be disappointed if the waitlist doesn't come true. Sometimes, I like to get a taste of 2 different resorts, but usually for longer trips. Whatever happens, we'll make the best of it!

I totally agree that one should buy where one wants to stay, unless you can't book prior to 7 months or it truly does not matter if you don't always get the same place.

However I do disagree that it is impossible to get BCV in the summer at 7 months without waitlisting at this point. This might change in the future, but we have made reservations for July or early August at 7 months and even 6 months for August for every summer since they opened.

Those stating the difficulty were you unable to book at 7 months for the summer?

I just got confirmation for a 2 BR on 5/22 for Dec. 15th thru 22nd (I know this inside the school year for most). We own at VWL but prefer the BCV with our kids (4yo, 2yo, and 6mos) because there are you can hit 3 parks without getting the kids out of the stroller).
