.

WOW! I've never seen that happen nor even thought about it.

I guess being a parent of a young child, I would hope that people would realize how public that viewing was to other people in other cars and how inapproapriate it would be for a child to see. Obviously they/he hadn't thought of it. I'm not sure I would have. I don't have any qualms about explaining the sexual act to my son, but I'd like to be able to do it under different circumstances.

I believe in freedom of speech, though. I'm not sure if this situation would qualify under public lewdness or be heralded as the right to freedom of speech.

Interesting quandry.

Chip, I agree that was in very poor taste on the part of the vehicle owner. Was the driver trying to watch this movie too? That's just stupidity IMHO. Don't know as there is much that can be done....I don't think they are really breaking any law within the confines of their vehicle. I do understand your frustration when it comes to having to explain it to the little eyes who might have seen it. I wouldn't want to have that conversation driving down the road either!

I must say though that it would be a little easier to explain than the "live show" I came across several years ago while driving!

Yucky. It's unacceptable. Keep it in private. The inside your car while it's on the road -- isn't private. I guess some people really think they're in private and some do it for exhibitionary (is that a word?) excitement.

These are probably the same people who think we can't see them when they pick their noses! ;)

To be honest with you, I rarely look at the person beside me while stopped for a traffic light or in a traffic jam.

I just keep my eyes front and center.

Sometimes looking at someone else on the road can be misinterpreted!

But I do think it's brazen to have porno on while you're driving around. It's like they're trying to say, "that's right, I got porno and I'm not afraid to use it and you can't make me turn it off."

Given what goes on in those types of movies they should not be watched in a car. Especially a moving one, those ppl are going to run over someone while watching a really steamy scene. Plus why do you want to watch that while driving down the street?? Can u imagine if their kids teacher or their pastor pulled up next to them??

I think person "A" shouldn't be looking in to person "b"'s car. It's none of person "A"'s business what's going on in there.

As small as those screens are on those TV's I'm amazed your husband was able to make out the TV screen let alone what was actually on it.

I think it's really tacky! But I agree with WVJules on this! Person A should not be looking into person B's car.

BUT

something like that would make me do a double take and be like "WHAT!!!! Is that person watching!"

Can you imagine being stuck behind that car in a 5 o'clock traffic jam???

How does this situation really differ from watching a porno in your home, in a room with windows? I mean, couldn't any group of neighborhood children walking by look into your windows? Should we only be allowed to watch pornos on the second floor? Or in a car with strongly tinted windows?

I fail to see the distinction.

While certainly we should not care what is going on in someone else's car, TV/DVD units are not mainstream enough to not foster curiousity about what is playing in the other person's car. If people didn't care so much about gawking at others, then traffic wouldn't come to a halt when something happens on the side of the road that makes everyone rubberneck.

We almost had our education moment a few weeks ago. We came out of the best wing place near us around 11:00 one Friday night. As soon as I turned on our headlights, a head bopped up from the drivers seat of the car parked in front of us. I spelled out H-E-A-D to my DH. DS picked up on the spelling and wanted to know what was up. I told him Dad understands what I mean and that's all you need to know about it now. :smooth:

Luckily, he accepted my answer and shut up about it.

Porn in public. EWWWW! Keep it in your own world, not in public.

:(

Sometimes it's hard to NOT to see what is going on in someones car. For example, I drive an SUV (therefore I am slighty higher up) and when stopped at a stop light, just an innocent glance can give you a view of something. The "video" in question would make me do a "double take" since it is so unusual to see something like that out on the road.

I think they should limit that type of thing to a more private viewing local.

I think they should be afraid of some pervert behind them rear ending them trying to get a better view!

I noticed that when I have a movie on for Caitlyn in the back people tend to get a little closer to my bumper.. maybe trying to see what movie we are watching.

Actually, someone here in Dallas got arrested for it. They were watching it in a parking lot with the volume really loud and he got arrested.

What are the odds of this ever happening again?

I have never seen a car next to me with a video playing, let alone an XXX video playing. Its not like its common occurance and I wouldnt worry about it.

1. What road in Georgia was that?;)

2. Why watch that junk going down the road (why watch it at all)?

3. Am I an adult, was I supposed to open this thread?;)

4. They really should have been more considerate towards their fellow drivers.

5. Hi Twinnie.

One Saturday night not long ago (around 10pm), an SUV passed us on the freeway with a movie playing. Even with tinted windows, it was obvious they were watching it. You couldn't miss it. I noticed it b/c it was so *bright* against the darkness outside. It was visible only to the people in the back seats in that SUV, tho. When they're in the lane next to you, it's not that hard to see a basic image of what is playing. I didn't get a good look at it since I was driving, but DW said it looked more like a cartoon (luckily!). Some people just don't care what they watch & who sees them watching it. :( And unless they're in an accident or get pulled over, I doubt you'll convince them why it's bad.

One thing you'll notice on newer cars that have VHS/DVD players factory-installed is they can only be viewed in the back seat. The new Cadillacs have it in the front seat, but the DVD player won't work while the car is in motion (or so the published material states). The units you can buy and later install are different. You can put them on the dashboard or where ever you want. :(

Hi Princess_Aurora! Looks like we're neighbors!!! :)

If people want to watch it from the privacy of their car then i have no problem with it, unless the TV is positioned in such a manner that the driver could see it and be a distraction while he is driving. In my state you arent allowed to have any tv in a auto that can be watched by the driver . And this makes sense as people are already inattentive and watching tv while driving will only worsen the problem.

What if it was a religious video and it made someone else uncomfortable because they didn't want to explain something to their kids. I don't think that under any cercumstances that this is something the goverment should regulate.
Was it perhaps in bad taste, well yes. Should it be illegal? NO.

They were in there OWN car, perhaps you shouldn't have been looking in. I know sometimes its hard to avoid but i just hate how ppl with traditional values always condem those with notraditional ones and expect that THEY should change.

I might not like the religious and personal ideaology items in other ppls cars but its their right.

If you don't want to expose your childern to the world, don't take them out in it. Or take the time to explain to your children that not all ppl share YOUR values.

Alright, if this was harsh i'm sorry, and No i don't think children should be exposed to sex in that mannor, but i also think the other car has rights too.
