...

Since you are already saving for the house, that is sensible to hold off and not use the unpaid vacation. I just remembered you said something about an extra $150 each month and thought that was after your savings.

Sorry to hear about the vacation days thing. But there's always time for vacations later on. We've gone on quite a few since we've been married. However, we've cut back for a while because we bought a house and we'd rather spend money on it then on vacations at this point. Plus, saving for a baby is a good idea as well. (I want to be a stay at home mom. YAY!) We're taking this next trip to WDW as kind of a last hurrah as far as vacations go. And it's definitely an "on the cheap" trip.

We use credit cards (to help us establish good credit) and pay them off every month. I definitely recommend doing that. Having a good credit score will help a lot when house buying.

Congrats on paying for everything in cash, that's fantastic!

Now, since you were already going to spend the money on the extra week & now won't take it, could you maybe upgrade your resort as a special treat for the time you will be there?

Or is it possible to save the extra money up = to your paycheck you'd be missing and keep the 2 weeks?

I realize this has been a lot of bad news to you, and I understand, but the bright side it at least you area clearly already starting out your marriage by being responsible. I know if I were you, I would just take the 2 weeks unpaid, and than probably regret it later when I had to push off buying a house or traveling. I think you are being really smart, and it will pay off in the long run!! Plus, being at disney for a shorter time makes every day more special!

We could do the 2 weeks but we would rather not. We are saving quite a bit each month but we still have wedding stuff to pay for and we don't want to find ourselves short.

Yes...babies. Lol we have been talking about that as well so we definitely are trying to save save save!! Df and I learned before...we aren't credit card people. It took a long time and a lot of hard work but becoming debt free was a great day:rotfl:

We are talking about splurging one night! We had already budgeted for a 2 week trip. I am searching prices right now. We figure the weekend after the wedding we will use our free night and pay one out of pocket.

I would love to take the 2 weeks but I know it's just not a great idea. Even though my boss said I could I also don't think it would reflect well on me to say I'm taking it anyway. Plus we might just plan another trip later this year. Dawn got me thinking...we keep taking about buying a house but we also want to go on a Mediteranean cruise before we have kids. We may just do that next fall and put the house off for one more year. You only live once!!!

Well, there is such a thing as "good debt." We use credit cards for pretty much all purchases. We pay off the entire balance in full (which means we never pay any interest fees or anything like that.) Not only does it help boost our credit scores but we also earn rewards with our cards. With one card we earn airline miles (currently we have enough for 3 round-trip tickets.) With other card we just earn points. We've used those points for things like giftcards to overstock.com. I'm sure credit card companies hate people like use because we're essentially never paying them anything. Oh well. LOL.

Have you ever checked your credit scores before? You can get a report from all three places for free once every 12-months. (Of course, you don't want to check them that often because it looks bad.)

I also consider our mortgage to be a form of "good debt." The only thing we have that I would consider actual debt would be for one of our cars (but at least it's a loan and not a lease.)

That is really disappointing that you won't be able to take more time, but I'm sure you'll have a great time anyway. One of my friends only went away for five days for their honeymoon and they had a great time. And a trip later on may work out to be even better because it will give you something to look forward to after the wedding.

I would rather not take the unpaid time and use that money towards an awesome trip down the line. Then you can really feel good about splurging!

That is a bummer they said it would have to be unpaid leave. Oh well think positive two honeymoons instead!

I think you should do the 5 day disneymoon and then do a "second honeymoon" later on. My friend did that and she thought it was better that way. our official disneymoon will only be for 6 days but we're ok with that! We figured we'd take a long weekend trip later on in the year to make up for it!

It gets very hard saving for a house and then buying on and having to do work to it or fill it with new stuff! trust me! You're definatly do the more responsible thing

im sorry to hear that your honeymoon has to be shorten now. i can only imagine how your heart must have sank with the news. but i agree with all the others, take two honeymoons!! the mediterranean sounds like a perfect romantic getaway!! :cloud9: that's what we are hoping for as a honeymoon or a second honeymoon.

So you are going for 9 nights! That is still a very long trip. I know it sucks that you can't stay longer after the wedding but it will still be an amazing trip. I'm getting anxious for it all already and we still have over 5 months:rotfl:

Oh...and Friday is the 26th and there isn't a 29th this year:goodvibes Just making sure you aren't booking the wrong dates for some reason.

Oh, and I love that we are all staying at the Boardwalk...it's gonna be so much fun!! I'm jealous of your parents' one bedroom villa though...can I use their tub :rotfl2:

Why are you only staying one night at the Poly on the 2nd night?? Can you not stay there the night of the wedding so you are away from everyone that night? I don't know how the free night works, I just hate the idea of packing up and moving..at least the night of your wedding, you don't need much "stuff" haha

haha oh I'm a dummy!! No I know there isn't 29 days in February.

Yes we are leaving the night of Friday (the 26th!), Poly is the 27th, check in at BWV the 28th.

Lol I'll pass along the request. My mom is soooo excited about the tub. I am glad we aren't going to be cramped in a hotel room to get ready. I wish we could stay in the 1-bedroom too!!

For the night before the wedding my brother is going to stay with Eric and I am going to stay at my parents room

We wanted to pick a night where we would actually have time to spend at the hote. If we use it on our wedding night we won't get there till 10 or 11 at night and have to check out the next morning. By using it the weekend we get there we can enjoy the pool and restaurants.

I don't mind moving since it's the beginning of the trip and then we will spend the rest of the week at one resort.

Where are you going to stay your first night? Just curious really:)

We don't know actually...my mom said we should just stay offsite:eek:

I am going to look today.

Ok so I showed Eric some of the bouquets and he loved the one I did (and my mom). He likes that it matches his bouquet! I threw this together...Lauren I am now voting gold shoes after doing this!!

He likes that it matches his bouquet? Am I missing something?

LOVE the gold shoes for Lauren.
