.................................................

I've been thinking about a comment that Lynne made about her youngest "helion" upon which no one has commented yet. She made a comment that her DD doesn't feel validated (I forget the word she used) if she doesn't have a boyfriend. She didn't seem to have a problem with that. I guess her DDs are not being taught that they can be strong, independent women who can have or do anything that they set their mind to do/have. They are being taught to latch onto a man so they can define themselves.

That family has issues that can be analyzed for years to come.

I noticed that as well, and found it disgusting.:sad2:

I swear last season when Vicki bought Brianna a car, she brought it to Brianna's house. Does Brianna no longer live in her own house?

ETA: Has anyone brought up how Jeanna keeps saying she has 'such great taste in men' but her husband treated her like CRAP and she talks about how he told her she was a dog?

Yes, yes, exactly! I was thinking the same exact thing and was going to post this too!

Brianna probably couldn't afford the place with the car payments her mother brought along with the car. :sad2:

As for Jeanna, the sad thing isn't that her DH was verbally abusive, it's that she's stayed with him for so long being abused when she definitely had other options... it's not like she can't afford to be on her own.

I know Jeana always refers to a head injury with her husband. What happened? And what was his career....a baseball player? I didnt watch the OC before this season....but am trying to catch up on things. Do the kids have a good relationship with their father or was he verbally abusive to them as well. Have they been seperated the entire time the show has been filming...or just this season?

I believe he was hit in the head with a baseball and had serious/severe skull fractures? She refers to him as having brain damage. I think she says it is some of the cause of the problems. I think she said that he did have a good relationship with the kids before the accident, but things got worse afterwards. In the last few seasons, it shows him around, but not really happy about it.

:rotfl: That was so strange! Here, honey, I leased a car for you that you will be making payments on! Aren't you excited?!

I thought that was so weird too! "Here honey! I got you a car so you can pay another bill! Aren't you excited? Aren't I the best Mom ever? I am! I am! I am! Here's the bill! Jump up and down about it! WOOHOO!!!!!!"
:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Lynn is not teaching those girls anything about self esteem. I feel so bad for those kids. One episode she actually asked the dd if she was "going to eat that" because if she did it would make her fat.:headache:
As for that horrible dress......is she kidding? The kid's butt cheeks were sticking out the bottom. I was watching and wondering why on earth she thought she should wear that when her cheeks were hanging out!

It was on the internet a quote from the paper that he was in trouble with the law either last year or the year before and did some jail time. You can google it and find out.

Matt Keough/Keogh was an All-Star pitcher for the Oakland A's and then bounced around the majors on the rosters of the Yankees, Cardinals, Cubs and Astros. He spent four years on the roster of the Hanshin Tigers in Japan. In 1992, after achieving a come-back with the A's, he was struck by a line-drive while sitting in the A's dugout and nearly killed. In 2005 he was involved and at-fault in a serious car accident. When he was finally located in a near-by store after the accident, his blood-alcohol level was 2.5 times the legal limit. The car accident (which put a bystander in the hospital) occurred right after the 'Real Housewives' debut episodes. He pleaded guilty to drunken driving and was sentenced to three months in jail. Matt has had other run-ins with the law because of his alcoholism including arrests in 2007 for parole-violations. One of the arrests came after he was binge-drinking for *days* in an OC hotel bar. The entire family on his side is very much a part of baseball history, with his father and uncle both having been major-leaguers.

I forgot all about the fact that she had to make the payments. Who does that?!

I agree about Jeanna, I just find it sad that she defends him.:confused3

I had no idea Matt is an alcoholic. They did well in covering that up on the show.

Neither did I. I find it interesting that they didn't make a bigger deal of that, considering how much the producers capitalize on drama.

With Matt's history of alcoholism and the brain damage from his head injury, that would explain where Jeanna was coming from when "defending" Mike in the coversation with Vickie. My perception was that Jeanna was trying to state that Mike is "sick" and that its the alcoholism that is driving Mike and that Vickie should understand that. Vickie was too quick to jump down Jeanna's throat before she could explain that to her.

I tend to think that Jeanna feels some sense of duty to Matt with his illnesses. I feel that she really is a nice person and wants to help him. Quite honestly, I think she needs to get on her own again. I think she has a lot of love to give and should be rewarded with love in return. Not the verbal abuse that Matt continues to lay on her.

Thanks, Agnes! for all the info. on Matt. I didn't know the situation was that extensive! I agree with you 2Kds2K9, Jeanna probably does feel a sense of loyalty to Matt, but does deserve to be loved in return. I do feel she is the most genuine of the bunch.

Sometimes I wonder where you all find this info! Half the stuff you dig up is way more interesting than anything shown on the show! Maybe they need to hire you guys as producers instead. :thumbsup2

I have to say, I started reading the back story stuff on other places like the OC register and Television without Pity websites, and they have pretty much ruined the show for me. The same thing happened with Jon and Kate plus 8. I started googling and was so disillusioned by what I read, I have never watched the show since then.

When you read what they have to say on other sites, you kind of understand why things happen like they do. Just be warned, once you start reading, you won't look at it the same and it MAY be ruined for you. I know it has for me.

Wow...tonight was just...wow. I am appalled at Tamra and anyone else that was pushing Gretchen to drink more, drink more. They encouraged her to drink more than I think she would have, which obviously led to her becoming WAY drunk and acting out of control. I honestly felt so bad for Gretchen.

Tonight's episode was crazy. Tamra's son Ryan is so creepy- did you see the way he kept leering at Gretchen? He gives me the willies.

I just can't even fathom that grown men and women act like that. First of all, Gretchen is an adult and needs to take responsibility for her own actions. But, for her "friends" to take advantage of her when she is so vulnerable is really low. And for Tamra and Simon not to step in and tell Ryan to cool it. That just boggles my mind. No wonder these families are so screwed up. And Sinderelli, you are right...the creep factor on Ryan(and Tamra, and Simon, and Vicki, and Donn) just went through the roof.

Oh, and I loved Lynne's comment about Tamra's toast..."I think she forgot Frank and I were here"...too funny!:lmao:

OK, I just watched.

First off, Simon is not British. Tamra's all 'Simon's British, so now I have to take etiquette classes.' :confused3 Since when?

Secondly, I agree that Gretchen is an adult and needs to take responsibility for her own actions, but WHO plans on getting another ADULT 'naked wasted?' I mean, if Vicki and Tamra were 20 year old boys and they wanted to get a hot chick wasted, I guess I could see that. But what the heck?

Per usual, Jeanna and Gretchen (even though she got hammered, I've been hammered a few times myself) are the only two I like on that show.

ETA: I love how Vicki thinks that Lynne and Frank must be potheads because they aren't hyper freaks. :lmao:
