2026 Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend

I'm wrestling with the same thing! I'm really only in LOVE with the 5K theme so I think I can manage to avoid the other races.

I only did the 5K/10K/Half to Dumbo, so I'm obviously fully capable of restraining myself.
Agree....I'm loving the Aristocats theme but if we ran this weekend again, we'd do the Half. So I'm thinking I'll just run the half as Marie!!! :)

- I'm planning on doing Goofy again in 27 and don't want to risk injury
- I don't know what my recovery will be like post Chicago (FWIW - I was perfectly fine after NYC but I'm aiming to take 30-45 minutes out of my PR in Chicago)
Same boat here. I'm not doing Goofy, but definitely don't want to risk injury before MW. I'm also going for a big PR in Chicago and have no idea what recovery will look like.

I'm coming for the W&D 5K for sure, so the thought of "I may as well stay through the weekend, right?" keeps running through my brain and tempting me to the challenge as well. IF it happens, I'll most definitely be taking it super easy. Even at a fairly easy pace, with my corral placement and pace I'm not really at risk of being swept. The timing post-Chicago actually aligns with traditional advice on when your first run should be post-marathon, so if I treat it like that, I think it should be okay.

That was the same thought I had - starting in B I can go VERY slow. That 3:34 we ran the half in this year should be fine 2 weeks later. I'm really not worried about the half - just consecutive days. But I guess I could practically walk the 10k as @DianaMB333 suggested

I'm feeling pretty confident I can just register for the challenge - I have a tendency to overthink these things :)

(Of course all bets are off if I can't get through registration!)

This might be better suited for the Running Thread but thought I'd start here.

I've decided I'm in for W&D for at least the half (shocking - I know). The question is, do I go for the challenge? Even though this is 2 weeks after Chicago, I'm confident I can safely run a Disney half marathon 2 weeks later. The question is, am I pushing it by doing the challenge? I decided to run a fast 5k and 10k on back to back days this weekend to gauge how I feel 2 weeks after Goofy - runs were good and I had no issue with the b2b days. Now of course, I'm hoping to run Chicago a lot faster than my 6.5 hour marathon time so it's not a good comparison.

Pros:
- Love the themes for the Half and the Challenge - I really want that Grumpy medal
- I'll be there anyway so may as well register for both
- I can run them as slow as I need to because I'm not trying to ride Everest

Cons:
- I'm planning on doing Goofy again in 27 and don't want to risk injury
- I don't know what my recovery will be like post Chicago (FWIW - I was perfectly fine after NYC but I'm aiming to take 30-45 minutes out of my PR in Chicago)

I'm pretty sure I already know which way I'm leaning but am interested in any thoughts against doing the challenge. (I'm not trying to be convinced one way or the other)
Okay so I am actually doing this with Princess Weekend. I have my goal marathon that I'm going all out for a BQ and CQ two weeks before Princess. Then my friend asked if I'd do the 10k with her, then we decided as a family to have my 6 year old do his first 5k there, and I couldn't just not do the half... so I'm signed up for all 3 races, 2 weeks after a hard effort marathon. I am going to go very very easy for all 3 races. You can do it!

Thanks! I think that’s the conclusion I’ve come to - as long as I take them easy I should be good. Not doing all three though - I just can’t do another early wake up for a 5k that isn’t part of a challenge!

And good luck with your BQ/CQ!
