When do the next year points charts typically get released?
Has there every been a point chart where anything changed by more than one or two points per night?
I can't remember how large the changes were in terms of points per night, but the original 2020 charts that caused quite a lot of furor (and were rescinded and replaced before they went into effect) raised the cost of studios and 1BR while lowering the cost of 2BR across all the resorts that existed at that time. So I think that it's likely some of those changes were greater than 1-2 points per night in some seasons.Has there every been a point chart where anything changed by more than one or two points per night?
Haha we’re probably somewhat of a rarity to support something like that. Honestly I wouldn’t mind upping studios by 2-3pts avg if it shaves 5pts avg off 1BRs. That could help better balance demand as well. Can we increase studios and decrease 1Bd’s….
Cash rack rates are typically around 50% increase for 1BR. DVC is often 100% increase, and in some cases 150% increase (like BWV and OKW 10pt studio on days when 1BR is 25pts). Nuts!I would love for them to increase studios and decrease 1brs. I feel like the 1br just doesn’t give great value for no step-up in the number of guests it sleeps in many cases.
Yeh, I just can’t bring myself to go with the ‘least value’ option, so often end up booking 2br for the 3 of us. How about that for some seriously backward mathCash rack rates are typically around 50% increase for 1BR. Studio availability could get much better if they made 1BR more reasonable pointwise. There are a few good deals resort/room/season for 1BRs, but mostly not. The studios and 2BRs typically offer the best value. 1BR charts seem like DVD’s strategy to to expand resorts options at 7 months, and also for shorter lead times to have something but pay a point premium for not locking in sooner lol.
That’s really where I’m at too - and it is funny! Disney math for sure but it really can make sense. Here’s the middle Season 4 at BWV:Yeh, I just can’t bring myself to go with the ‘least value’ option, so often end up booking 2br for the 3 of us. How about that for some seriously backward math
… but I do like having a proper bed for each person!
This is really the crux of the weak 1BR value proposition. 1BRs are sandwiched between two 'by the numbers' better value offerings. That’s really where I’m at too - and it is funny! Disney math for sure but it really can make sense. Here’s the middle Season 4 at BWV:

We often do Sun-Fri trips. 12pts studio, 25pts 1BR or 33pts 2BR. It’s a no-brainer to take the 2BR even though it’s 8pts more. The extra space, reals beds plural lol, and another bathroom. It cost less than 33% more but I think it’s near twice the value of 1BR to me. This is why Disney loves us
I think this is why we prefer resorts where 1bd’s have 2 bathrooms and 2Bd’s have 3 bathrooms. This is really the crux of the weak 1BR value proposition. 1BRs are sandwiched between two 'by the numbers' better value offerings.
Studios are half the points, but sleep the ~same number of people with the ~same number and types of sleeping surfaces with the ~same bathroom count (some exceptions), but for ~half the points.
All while 2BR are 30-45% more points than a 1BR, but sleep ~2x the number of people with ~2x the sleeping surfaces (3x if you count just real beds), and ~2x the bathrooms (again, some exceptions).
As 1BR bookers (with truly no need to go up to a 2BR), we would personally benefit from a rebalancing to lower 1BR and increase Studios, but I don't see how they could possibly do that without pulling some shenanigans we'd likely oppose on principle.
Are there more studios that sleep more than a 1 bedroom at this point? At least with provided bedding?Studios are half the points, but sleep the ~same number of people with the ~same number and types of sleeping surfaces with the ~same bathroom count (some exceptions), but for ~half the points.

Isn't it an open question if they can even rebalance them?
