2023 Fall Itineraries are out

Since Panama cruise is gonna be with Magic for next year, do you think it will sail using the old locks vs new locks? What is the experience between going through old vs new locks?

AFAIK the Magic can't sail in the old locks due to the AquaDunk extending over the side. It's too wide.

While the width may be an issue as well, I believe primary reason the Magic has not done PC is the duck tail made her too long. That is why the Wonder did not receive a duck tail until after the new locks opened. The new locks are bigger and can take bigger ships.

I was debating because Wonder has a nice concierge lounge and deck. I've never sailed in concierge on Magic but I heard it wasn't that great compared to Wonder.
I haven't sailed on the Magic, but will for the WBPC in 2023. The lounge on the Wonder is fantastic. Many people who have sailed on multiple ships say it is the best in DCL's fleet (pre-Wish).

Yeah, the tail definitely makes the classic ships too long for the old locks. So, even without the AquaDunk it would not fit.

The old locks are 110 ft wide, the Magic and Wonder are both 106 ft wide, but that does not include the Dunk extension.

Although I'm super excited to hear a Disney ship could come to Australia I don't think the Wonder would be the right option. Australia in summer is HOT the pool areas would be an essential part of the cruise and I don't feel the wonder would match that.

Perhaps it differs as to where they would cruise to, but it seems they would cruise out of Sydney, which (according to the internet) get's nowhere near as warm as Florida... I live in Central Florida and today it will be in the 90s and feel like 101 degrees Fahrenheit. Sydney gets into the 80s. Of course, I've never been to Australia (yet!), so please let me know if the internet is (again) wrong.

Sydney can get pretty hot in summer definitely 100f, but anyway I thought the cruise would go up to Queensland and The Great Barrier Reef from there, and there it's definitely gonna be HOT

I didn't know that; thanks for that info!
Would love to go up to The Great Barrier Reef! Can't wait to see where they end up going.

I mean I don't know where they would go they could even go down and do Melbourne, Tasmania and maybe Adelaide, but it would still be hot enough to swim in a pool in summer

The Wonder used to sail the Bahamas.
And the Caribbean. I don't get the "Australia is too hot for the Wonder" argument. The Wonder has pools and a waterslide. She has air conditioning. She has shaded areas on the pool deck and a shaded promenade. She's certainly fit for sailing in a hot climate, and has done so many times before.

Sydney definitely gets over 40c in summer.
