2018 Watch: All 2018 Itineraries are announced as of May 11th, 2017!

So, looking at historic evidence from the 2015 through 2017 releases my guess (and that is all that it is!!!) would be the following:
Winter 2018: anytime between October 4, 2016 and November 15, 2016

Ok, we are coming up to my predicted time frame for Winter 2018!! It seems that with the Winter schedule they moved forward in the past three years. Not sure if they will keep last years first week of October time frame. I guess in case Hurricane Matthew turns out to become a big issue for DCL I would expect them to delay the release for a couple of weeks.

I even did some poking around if I could find any port schedules, but was not really successful...

It was released the last week of October last year not the first week.

I'm interested in seeing the European cruises in 2018. Does anyone know when the cheapest sailings typically are (ex. I always sail in September for the Caribbean)?

I think for 2016 and 2017 the most affordable European itineraries were the two last 7-night Med cruises before the end of the season. They were September 3 and 10 this year. Otherwise usually the first one or two cruises at the beginning of the season (end of May, beginning of June) are less expensive than later cruises as well.

We went on our first 3 day cruise on the Dream this August so I booked a placeholder. Waiting to go on the 7 day Western cruise on the Fantasy in August 2018!

Throwing this out there - I have no basis for this theory - so take it with the usual pinch of salt.

If DCL had intentions to release the winter 2018 schedule this week (if they stick to doing it the same day of the week as last year - it would be today), they will likely postpone the announcement due to Hurricane Mathew.

I would imagine cast members are going to have their hands full fielding calls related to the hurricane...therefore any hope of announcing the new schedules today with plans to start taking platinum/gold reservations by tomorrow and everyone else by Thursday - Is likely not going to happen.

Just my humble opinion...I Really think we're going to have to wait a few weeks until Mathew blows over (pun intended)....

Yes, I was thinking the same.

I called this evening and they were surprised I asked. They asked where I was from, I said Kentucky, and they said...well that explains it. They were going to release really soon he said, but the hurricane is delaying it. He didn't have a specific date, but said after the hurricane passes, it wouldn't be much longer...

I imagine your call was a nice break from the rest of the calls they have been swamped with the past few days.

Me too... my birthday is in January so I usually keep my eye out for anything interesting itinerary or price wise. :3 2018 is going to be a big year for me... I get a 6 week paid sabbatical at work (almost unheard of in the USA) in addition to my usual 4 weeks of vacation time. My husband's work doesn't do them, so I am on the lookout for a fun safe things to do on my own... A cruise might be in the cards for at least part of that time.

We are targeting Presidents Week Feb 2018 - would be our first cruise

So waiting for itinerary for that week and pricing

Definitely plan to book ASAP. That week is a school holiday for a lot of schools in the northeast at the very least.

How much is a placeholder? Is it the same deposit? What if you don't know which one you want to go on? Is there a 3,4,5,7, transatlantic placeholder?

250$ and it does not matter what kind of cruise you book with it in the end.

I am looking to book for late feb, early may 2018 as soon as possible, and will be my first time on DCL (and first cruise in 10+ years)...so a few questions:

How soon after itineraries are announced can you book?

What is the best way to book of you have a specific stateroom you want, yourself online so you can do it asap (forgoing obc from an agent), or with an agent to get the full obc, but knowing they might be working with several other people and might not get to your booking right away.

Does this make sense? Thanks in advance for any help/advice.
