I have been to a few Ducks games and EVERY TIME there were more fans of the visiting team than Ducks fans. It was kinda pathetic. Oh sure - they are there now - probably jumped off the Kings bandwagon and drive down the 5. By the way, I am not Canadian.
Honestly, it depends on who the Ducks are playing. If you go when a Canadian team, the Kings, or an original 6 team is playing against them, then yes, you will see a lot of fans of the other team. It's like that in almost every arena though when I have watched other games on T.V. So, I'm no denying that a lot of Oilers fans were there at every Ducks game, because I'm sure there were. I'm sorry to think you were Canadian. Based on your responses, it just made me think you were based on who you are cheering for.

Totally agree on the Sens. Not many have been talking about them all season, and they were one of the more consistent teams this regular season. Probably one of the more balanced too. I was talking to a friend last night that said it was going to be Pens in 5. I'm not so sure, though.

I'd love to see a Nashville/Ottawa Final. It'll be different and likely exciting.
We will see what happens. I'll be cheering for my Ducks though. Ducks fly together! :)

Now that the Caps choked once again, does anything think no one will stop the Pens from winning it all?

You might want to save that dish for yourself. You can't feed crow to someone who never said they weren't going to win. Just sayin'~~

Good luck, they're going to need it is about as strong as it gets. Just sayin.

There's apparently more Ducks fans on these boards than attend the games.

As much as I hate the Predators (jerseys sponsored by any number of mustard companies), I hope they crush the Ducks. Also hoping for a Sens upset and then hope they take the cup - regardless of who comes out of the West. Should it be a Preds/Pens final, I'll take Aaron Burr's advice from Hamilton and "hold your nose and close your eyes"...

I wouldn't mind seeing the preds win. After their first owner pretty much used the city of Nashville and left, and after years of ownership not being serious about fielding a championship team, they finally have someone that is trying to win. rather than just collect money and go through the motions. I wouldn't really mind any of the teams left winning. But I'm rooting for the Ducks.

We were totally used by the first owner. Leopold went through the motions and I guess we should be thankful that he helped bring hockey here but he really only cared about getting the Wild. He talked about how much he liked Nashville while he was trying to sell us out to the Blackberry guy who only wanted to take the team to Canada.

I give great credit to the current ownership and Sean Henry, the CEO who have turned the Predators into a fun environment. The games are fun and they work hard to create that environment. We are only half season ticket holders and we have a guy assigned to us who makes sure we are happy with our seats, gets extra tickets when requested and secures parking for us. I know we are one of many but he makes us feel special.

Yeah, but the real question is "What ARE you sayin'?" Because I sure don't know. lol

On topic, I hope the Senators win the East at least. It'll be nice to see a Canadian team represented, especially since not too long ago, most Canadian teams were lottery pics at best.

Huge Sens fan here! :yay: I grew up in Ottawa and have lots of family still there. I think the Sens have an uphill battle against the Pens. But I thought that against the Rangers too. So you never know. I'll be cheering!!

For the third round, my rooting criteria shifts to Ottawa. They never won the Cup.* Neither has Nashville, but Ottawa has been in the NHL longer. Anaheim won in 2007 and Pittsburgh in 2016.

*(Those Ottawa Stanley Cup victories in the 19 teens and twenties don't count in my book).

Ok, watching that overtime goal go in off of Perry just made me laugh. At first I thought the puck deflected off of his head and I have to say I *really* enjoyed seeing that!

The Predators are battered and hurt but on to the Stanley Cup Finals! I don't know how they won last night with so few shots vs the Ducks. What a team, what a crowd! I think there were more people watching the game outside the arena than inside. Three separate screens were set up outside for fans who could not get tickets.

I am really conflicted right now. We have tickets for the Stanley Cup finals but a wedding to attend at the time of the first game here. I really want to be at the game but I don't know how to get out of the wedding.

Unless it's your first born child's wedding, ditch it and go to the game LOL

Just make sure you cheer for Ottawa

:duck:

The Nashville fans really lost me with the stunt of throwing the duck onto the ice. As much as it would pain me, I would root for Pittsburgh over Nashville...and Ottawa over both of them should they manage to take the East.

Just crazy fan behavior. I don't see much difference between the duck or the catfish that is thrown. Both come from a local food market so it is not like it was killed just for the game. I read an interview with the guy who tossed the duck. He is a high school referee who very recently started attending hockey games. The catfish thrown last night came from Tennesse Titan offensive lineman Taylor Lewan.

Edited to add: There were reports of another duck tossed onto the ice that I missed. We were on the other end of the arena so I did not see it being hustled off. That duck had not been plucked and I have no idea where it came from. That does seem worse than a plucked duck from a food store. Oh well, as the announcer said "Please do not throw anything onto the ice". Unless there is a hat trick - go Sissoms.

Yes, the definitely "not killed for food" duck is the one I am speaking of. I hate any animal being killed, but especially for a stupid stunt like throwing it on the ice. What a waste.

I prefer octopus and plastic rats to be thrown rather than catfish and ducks. ;)

ExH and I were/are Philadelphia Flyers fans. Our wedding was set many months in advance for May 30, 1987. By mid-May of that year, it looked very possible that a Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals Flyers vs. Edmonton Oilers could be on that date. ExH and a few other people joked that we needed to postpone our wedding. Fortunately, about a week prior, the NHL announced that Game 7 would be on May 31.

I do wonder if some people (including exH) would have been no-shows if the game was on May 30.

I know it is stupid to be upset. As season ticket holders we have seen a ton of games. The wedding is of the daughter of a college friend of my husband. We are not particularly close but since we have already RSVP'd I would feel like a jerk for not going. The wedding is a four hour drive so we are toying with the idea of going to the wedding (afternoon) making a quick exit and driving back in time to see most of the game. Crazy right? And then we would be blowing the reception off. I don't know if that would upset the friend. Oh well, my husband has clients he could give the tickets to and make a lot of points. Decisions, decisions.

As much as it would suck to miss the game, I do think you should go to the wedding AND the reception since they have already paid for your meals.

Thank God the Preds just made the Stanley Cup finals more interesting. It was actually funny watching Game 1. I was at my Elks lodge, and 1/2 the crowd wanted the Pens to wing, because they can't stand Subban. The other 1/2 wanted the Preds to win because they can't stand Crosby. Me, I just like that there's a lot more hitting going on than I would've expected with these 2 teams.

An interesting side note; If the Preds can push it to at least Game 6, that will be the weekend that the CMA Music Fest will be in Nashville. Pen fans, good luck getting a room.

Cma fest has unofficially already started in town and trust me it's packed. If you don't have prepaid parking you may be sol the prices are highest I've seen ever living here
