Does Epcot do the Food and Wine Festival every year? Is it always mid Sept through beginning of November? I'm trying to get a jump on my planning for next year and since food is a big part of our memories of WDW I'm thinking my family would love the F&WF seeing as we get two snack credits with the DDP :)

yes, the F&W has been going on for several years, around the same time frame of Sept-Nov. It has gained a few days each year, 2016 being the longest at 62 days. Maybe try to aim for October sometime to fully capture it during your trip! Have fun. I am 11 days away from my first F&W trip, and CANNOT wait!

This is the 21st consecutive Food & Wine Festival. It has gotten longer as it has become more popular.
This years mid September opening is the earliest. It has traditionally been the last weekend in September. It is impossible to predict what they will do next year.
I agree with PP. Plan October to be safe

Epcot is becoming the year round festival park as they continue to extend the dates of F&W,the addition of the Festival of the Arts in January and February and that the Flower and Garden festival is already a super long festival,I have no problem with it.Obviously the food booths must be seriously profitable for them as I remember years ago only F&W had the booths, then F&G basically added them and became Food and Wine festival spring version, now for Christmas we also get booths with Christmas offerings. It works, people spend money and get different entertainment and activities throughout the year.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I just read the same thing and this STINKS :( The low crowds right after labor day between back to school and start of F&W was our favorite time to go, and now that small 1 or 2 week lull is gone :( F&W runs right into the holiday season, no good time to go now.

Unfortunately that is probably why they extended the dates, because of the low crowds.

I am happy that the opening date is so early. We are on the DVC Member cruise, and we decided to stay for a few days afterward!

I was tentatively planning for Aug 28 or 29 through Labor Day next year, but haven't booked yet. We're not interested in attending F&W so now I'm wondering if crowds will still be okay if we just avoid Epcot on the weekends, or if overall crowds will increase that week and we should go a week earlier to avoid it altogether.

What do you all think? Does F&W affect overall crowd levels that much, or is it mostly locals who just go to Epcot on the weekends for the festival?

I am very disappointed. I try to avoid Epcot during F&W, and have visited in September for many years. I guess I'll just have to focus on the other parks and forego Epcot on that trip. It's way too crowded and rowdy for me, not to mention that in the heat, everyone stinks of alcohol scented sweat while you're waiting in line for attractions. Just not my cup of tea . . .

We were looking forward to a change by going in September and this just adds to it we just hope that there is still going to be a good ap discount for September

Is the festival crazy in the evenings? My 2 year old and I were there this past September but we were only there until 3. I am planning on taking her again this coming September but I didn't know if I should avoid Epcot in the evening again?

It's typically busier in the evenings with the Eat to the Beat concerts. But avoid Friday and Saturday afternoons and evenings! Many locals come to Epcot over weekends to experience the festival . The other evenings of the week should be manageable.
