2017 Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend

Hey fellow princesses! Hoping to run for my third GSC for 2017!! :) Nice to meet all of you!

I'm hoping *THIS* time I get my costume done in time for the race & submit my PR, so I can actually wait in line for photos! lol

Anyone else here a Runner 5? :)

(Zombies Run! app, for those who are not yet Runner 5s)

It sure does make the laps around the indoor track fly by! And I don't even have chases on.

Do you have the full version? (I didn't know chases could be taken off? lol)
I used that for a bit when I just started - I should download it again and finish it fully. I agree, it's GREAT for when you are doing circular laps or running in non scenic places. :)

I just read through all 15 pages and learned so much! Thanks for all of the help getting me organized!

My question is - is it better to go via a TA or charity or to wait and book myself at 12 noon on July 12th? Are TA and charity groups a guaranteed spot if we book through them?

TIA!

I got it ages ago and neve used it until this year. I checked my iTunes account and it seems I paid about $5 for it back then. So I don't know what that means. It was so long ago. And I'm still in season 1. :)

I have had emotional responses to two of the mission story lines so far. Which is wild! Good storytelling.

I haven't done it in a while either! I remember having fun with it. I should pick it up again.

I think it depends on what you need - are you dong the GSC? I've been told this sells out faster if you're booking yourself.

Charities are great but you need to be able to do the fund raising. Personally I'm using a travel agent because I'll be on vacation at the time and I need the peace of mind.

For those of you that are booking or have booked with a travel agent in the past... Who did you use? Sorry if we aren't supposed to post that kind of stuff.
I have never booked Disney with a travel agent, but since I'm planning to do the race with a friend- I don't want to risk one of us not getting in.

We used Acclaim Travel to get hubby and son into the WDW 5K (back before hotel and ticket were required). They were wonderful.

And we bought discounted DisneyLAND tickets through GET Travel for Disneyland Half in 2014. They sell bibs as well.

Hello!

I'm very new to these boards :) I am really keen to do the Glass Slipper Challenge but I'm a bit nervous as I will be doing the races on my own. This is probably a very silly question but will there be other people running alone or does everyone run in groups? I plan on travelling from the UK on the Thursday, have a chill out day on the Friday, do the races Saturday and Sunday and then go home. A flying visit!

That's great to hear thank you @Ariel484! Do people from this board meet up and run together at all? Im happy to run alone but I figure running with others is probably more fun?

Hi @Hollysmum - I will go to races with friends but end up running by myself because running for me is a personal endeavor and I like to get lost in myself and the experience as I do it. I'll usually try to find ways to meet up with a group before in the corrals or after at the finish line. I'm sure we'll organize some sort of "pre-race meet up" as we get closer - whether it's a snack or meet-n-greet.

Sign up and have fun! Everyone here is really nice and supportive.

Brilliant, I'm really glad I found this forum. I'm getting so excited now, I really want to try and do the GSC as a personal achievement. I've got a place in the Disneyland Paris Half in September, luckily its only a few hours drive from where I live and a hop across the tunnel so no jet lag involved. I'm hoping Paris make it as wonderful as all the races look at WDW :)

I run alone as well. It's a mind & experience thing for me.

I would LOVE to have a Run DIS meetup though!

I ran the 5K alone this year and had a great time. People are very open and friendly for the most part. For 2017, I'm doing GSC and while some family will do the 5K with me and my aunt might do the 10K, I will most definitely be on my own for the Half. I'd love to have a RunDIS group (maybe one per corral) to at least meet up with at the start and have some familiar faces along the course!

Does anyone just run the 5K?

I did in 2015. It was a lot of fun.
If you're interested in the 5K, go for it. It's a great experience ... and it starts later than the other races, so your early wakeup isn't quite as early (it's still pretty early, though).
