2017 Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend

Yikes! Will have to budget for that extra. Thanks for the heads-up. It shouldn't be shocking to me that a disney special event is close to financially out of reach lol.

For the Wine & Dine 10K coming up in November, I ended up registering with a charity called CAL, Catch A Lift Fund. It cost me $75 for the 10K instead of $120 HOWEVER I do have to raise $600 by October. Seems a bit silly on one token to have to raise $600 for a $45 registration discount, but if you are rather confident you can do that, then for me the immediate discount was worth it. You can use gofundme to raise money or your own methods. It's just an idea. I was inspired to do so because CAL is for wounded warriors and many of my clients are.

I don't know that i'd be able to raise that much, but thanks for the suggestion! I didn't know about that.

Oh, and now that I'm registered for Wine & Dine, it's time to stress about registering for the Princess Half. LOL.

You're welcome! Agreed, it can be daunting! They also had a discount for the Lumiere Challenge I was tempted to do but I had to raise $1,000. The charities for Princess may be slightly different and of course, each charity has it's own rules for raising money! Some may not require that much but I think they are rather similar.

You can totally do it! Lots of bake sales and ebay selling :)

I'll probably be doing this for the Glass Slipper Challenge in the event I can't get in. The Travel Agents don't help because I am an AP and I like the idea of giving back!

Ah! I just realized we're inside the 11 months window for home resort booking for 2017. But we have to figure out what we are doing May 2017 for the family vacation....

Otherwise I may be waiting till 7 months to see about booking Saratoga, assuming we have the points.

If we don't, I'll probably end up booking a value or moderate room - since I don't think I've actually ever done that, you can cancel up to like 31 days out, right? I'm thinking that once they release rates for 2017 I might just book a room with a deposit if I can, and then see what happens with our DVC points. If I don't get in or we have points, then I can just cancel, but I don't want to be stuck :P

Lindsey, 31 days is for packages. Just get a room-only, then it's something like 5 days out when you can't cancel without penalty.

Depending on your Use Year and if you have to bank/borrow, you might consider booking anyway for Feb. (we have a Feb UY though so it wouldn't impact any other trips)

This past February we booked Port Orleans like regular folk. I keep our DVC points for family vacations. It was nice and I like their food court.

Yeah, our UY is October and we'd obviously like to not borrow if possible - which is why we want to figure out the points for our May 2017 reservation first and see what we might need to do for a Princess trip. Thanks for the info on the cancellation though! Obviously I'd have plenty of time to cancel if needed :)

This is another thing - my husband and I both love POR and would like to have the chance to stay there again - so it wouldn't be the end of the world if we booked a regular room :) The points cost of those is just too ridiculous to use DVC on.

I'm super excited! So I just stared walking and running in February to loose weight. I'm 11 lbs down and I've stared signing up for 5ks.I stared working with a running with a free training app. Currently I do 3 minute runs with one minute walks for 30 minutes. When I go to the gym I'm on the treadmill for at least an hour do between 4-5 miles. I really wanted to to do this run and thanks to all your comments I've decided to go for it, I want to do 5k, 10k, and half marathon. Of course I can't seem to find anyone who will do it with me so it might just be me. I'm going tomorrow to get fitted for real running shoes. And I found out they have running groups and training so I'm going to join their groups :) I'm really excited! I'm also a seamstress so in going to figure out how to design my own active wear and make it Princess design. I'll use Jalie patterns there awesome! I'm still trying to figure out best TA or just do it myself. I don't think I'll even go to the parks just enjoy the pool and relax between races. I'll be subscribing and can't wait!

You're in the right place!! Many folks will run with you here!

POR's definitely a good place!

That UY makes it all complicated. :) For us with a Feb UY, and how we've (not) been traveling to WDW, I simply pushed our leftover 2016 points to 2017, and most of those are paying for my Princess weekend. Leaving almost all of our '17 points for the family to play with. (and '18 if we want a big trip in '17) And if for some reason we want to do something later THIS year, I can borrow the '17 UY points for it. :) We definitely got lucky since we haven't really been doing WDW recently.

Welcome! You're off to a great start! I did just that on my trip this year and it was maybe my favorite vacation in a while! It was so relaxing. I may just do 1 park per trip now, if any. lol

I think someone posted they go on sale July 12? What time usually?

I believe it is 12pm EST. All of this info will be on the runDisney website.

At least by 11:59 am. ;)

My cousin is asking for a step by step guide to registering. I did it for her last time but ended up very uncomfortable about it. But they seem to change the registration with each race so it's hard to figure out what to tell her.
