2017 Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend

I ran the Castaway Cay 5k last November, and I'm registered for the Disneyland 5k on 9/2. Looking forward to doing the Princess 5k also! I'm hoping to be able to register myself and friends early as a DVC member. How do I find out when DVC members are able to register? Will they send a special code or do I just use my member ID?

You will be able to register yourself (and your kids if you have them) early with DVC. Friends? No, unless Disney decides to change that rule.

My first time posting since 2008. Not sure if I am starting a new post or accidentally posting this as a reply (help!) Any walkers out there? I'm thinking of registering for the 2017 Princess 10K and Half-Marathon (Glass Slipper Challenge). I've only done one Disney race (back in 2008 - walked a 15K). I walked my first and only half-marathon last November and my pace was under 15 minutes/mile, so I think I can do it. When does registration open up? I heard one rumor that it is 7/12/16 - anyone else heard this?

Do you know when the registration opens??

Regular registration is 7/12/16, early registration (AP/DVC) is 7/5/2016. Both at noon EST.

Plenty of people walk and it never fails to amaze me that people can keep the 16:00/mile required pace while walking...I sure as heck can't! :)

Joining in! I've been wanting to do a Princess race for years. Right now I'm leaning towards the 10k as I'm slowly getting back into exercising/running after having a foot injury. Looking forward to training and planning for 2017!

Almost 2 months later, I FINALLY got my deferral confirmation from runDisney for GSC (I deferred on January 14). They really mean it when they say it'll take 6-8 weeks!

So I'll definitely be in for 2017. :)

Congrats on finally getting your confirmation!

I am so excited to join this thread! This has been on my bucket list and I am ready to do it! I am a beginner so I will probably do the 5K with my daughter and then do the 10K by myself. Maybe the half in 2018. I have several 5K races and 2 10K races this summer & fall so I should be ready to go. For me, I think it is more mental than physical! Already love all the good advice on this thread!

How likely is it that the proof of time requirements are going to shift to 2:45? Some of the races still say 3:15, while others have said 2:45 (ie: Disneyland Half).

I ask because I just scored my first sub-3:15 race yesterday at RNR DC and I am so happy to finally have something I can use! Granted there's still plenty of room to grow, but it puts a little bit of pressure of a 1:18 finish for a 10K race to get the 2:45 and I'm not quite there. I think I'm about 1:24 right now for the 10K (not official, but practice times).

Seems pretty likely. That's what they have published for the next race registration (Wine & Dine).

I can't say I understand it...seems like it would make the last few corrals a bit of a mess. :confused3 But I wouldn't worry about it just yet...just keep improving and doing the best you can.

I'm new to timed races, so forgive my ignorance. Does one have to submit proof of time, or is it just if you wish to be placed in an earlier corral? Which races would one submit a proof of time for, everything from a 5K to a marathon, or just certain distances? What difference does it makes to switch proof of time to 2:45 from 3:15, and what does that mean exactly?

You don't have to submit a time. If you don't, you'll be placed in one of the latter starting corrals.

Half marathon, marathon, or any challenges. If you have a 5K bib or a 10K bib, you put your anticipated pace and they do corrals that way.

It means that you would be in an earlier starting corral. runDisney corrals the runners so that the elite runners start first, then the fastest non-elite runners, and so one. So if you submit a faster proof of time, you're in an earlier corral, and you start your race(s) earlier.
