2017 Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend

Fancy, right? ;) princess:

I hope it looks exactly like this :rotfl2:

I turn 50 in a few weeks-- and I plan to celebrate ALL YEAR! Part of that will be the GSC next February with my brother (and hopefully my sister will be along to cheer, maybe walk the 5k, fingers crossed). When I told him I wanted to run a Disney HM to celebrate turning 50, he immediately said he wanted to do it with me... but only if I let him dress like a princess! :) It should be fun.

I ran the Princess Half with my brother in 2011 - super fun!! :)

Happy early birthday! Sounds like an excellent way to celebrate!

Hooray - my first Disney race weekend!

Now to decide which DL race. Tink, HM, or Avenger.

Me too. I'm going to do Tink, I've decided! Get my pink Coast to Coast First. My boys LOVE anything Capt Hook/Peter Pan so I figured they would really enjoy the Neverland 5K.

With Rock N Roll San Diego having a fairly flat and downhill course, there's a good shot I may be faster than a 3:15 pace for Proof of Time.

I have 17 half marathon races left to get that time less than 3:15 --- so there's a good shot that I may actually be able to not be in the last corral. Last weekend's half marathon was 3:22 -- so I'm getting closer! :)

EDIT: I just realized that I can use a 10K time to submit for corral placement. Yessss. I think I can maintain a 14 minute mile pace for Tink 10K no problem.

Yes ma'am! You'll need longer than a 10K if (when? ;)) you sign up for the marathon, Goofy or Dopey. I'll be using a 10K time for my GSC proof.

Any advice on finding officially timed races? I'm in the Macon, GA area and am having trouble - my race budget is very small, so even though we're close to Atlanta it's still a little expensive to go up just for a race. It may be my only option for Proof of Time, though, so I might have to figure out a way :) Just figured I'd see if anyone had other options.

I'm planning on signing up for my first 10k this month! Probably will end up running it by myself which isn't the greatest for my first race in years, but I'm hoping I can convince my husband to maybe come cheer me on :P

I ran the Castaway Cay 5k last November, and I'm registered for the Disneyland 5k on 9/2. Looking forward to doing the Princess 5k also! I'm hoping to be able to register myself and friends early as a DVC member. How do I find out when DVC members are able to register? Will they send a special code or do I just use my member ID?

1 week before regular registration, so I think that would be July 5? The link should be there when you log into your DVC account (at least, I think so...I'm not DVC). :)

We'll see what happens with Wine & Dine next week, but I wouldn't count on 3:15 being the corral mark now.

It's 2:45 for the '16 Disneyland Half Weekend, so I think RD is changing PoT to 2:45 for the coming run season. Everyone just needs to be prepared for that change, because I can't see them saying just some weekends are at 2:45 and others are at 3:15.

@Keels - Thanks for the update. I am going off what was there on the site - so hopefully they'll edit it.

Either way, I'll probably be in the back corrals, but I just did 3:22 for a half so I'm in the time zone. Just need to weave around the walkers.

Yeah, it's weird...it does seem like they updated the dates in the Proof of Time section to correspond with 2017, but it has the 3:15 requirement. Not sure if they're doing this on a race-by-race basis, or if it's difference in California because the corralling will be different or what. :confused3

Forgot to add something...I THINK early registration is only for you and anyone else that has the same address as you do, so if your friends are non-DVC and/or non-APs, and you sign them up during early registration, there is a risk that their registrations will be canceled. Just an FYI. :)
