2017 Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend

Yes, super helpful, thanks! It will make my spectators less cranky to hear someone has quoted it as being fun (and even more importantly, that they can do it for free). My mother would stand on the road all day to see me for a second, but anybody else will appreciate the availability of food and bathrooms :)
Definitely fun. Tiring, but fun! And my BFF was really happy to see us, so that made it worth it. :)

I think they mentioned this is their first time selling bibs.. That's what has me nervous

Aha.

Have the prices for the different events been posted? I feel like Ive seen them somewhere but now cant find them...maybe I just saw prices from last year? Idk Im confused lol

I saw prices on the Acclaim Travel site inclusive of active.com fees.

Are they allowed to line up anywhere else?

I have seen spectators in some odd places! Seems easiest to just see them at the main spots, though.

So I think if a spectator has knowledge of the race course and the Disney transportation system, and if they are willing to wake up early, it's pretty doable.

Agreed. Which is why I haven't encouraged DH and DS to come with me to WDW events and spectate. :)

@bumbershoot - Work calendar has a "Meeting" planned during that 90 minutes of registration, starting at 830am to get set up through 10am to make sure I get in next week.

I am really really really feeling apprehensive about this one. I will have two systems working in tandem on two different internet connections. Credit card numbers copy+paste for easier input and just being ready to do this.

I've blocked my work calendar as well for general registration on the 12th!

Guess I wil have to gear up for the sign up rush too. Last year runDisney sent me an email link for a reserved spot for "perfect princesses". I haven't gotten that email this year. Perhaps it is because the races aren't selling as fast :confused3 Note to self, arrange schedule accordingly.

Hi Everyone!
So I have 2 questions, so sorry I can't look through all the pages now to see if my questions have been answered before.. so bare with me :smooth:
1. Do we know prices yet for the races? I can't find anything

2. I just joined DVC, so I know that I will be able to register early now.. how do I find that link? do I log into the DVC site with my info, and look for a link there? or do I get that link somewhere else?

Thanks :flower1::flower1:

I'm not DVC, but I believe what I bolded is how to find the link. :)

http://patstonetravel.com/princess-half-weekend.php

Has prices + active fees listed. They have to sell with hotel and ticket, too.

I now have the page saved to favorites, but to find the dvc page I log in to dvc then do a search for RunDisney. That generally takes me to the page with info which has a link to the RunDisney page which has a link to active.

Last year's prices. These are pretty similar to the registration prices for WDW Marathon Weekend in January.

I would think we'll see something like the list below (although not with the tiered pricing, they seem to have done away with that) - with individual race prices going up $5. Lumiere's 2-Course Challenge cost $330 this year so I could see the Glass Slipper Challenge increasing to something similar.

Oof, glad I put aside a lot for this registration - still need about $5 but I can find that :D

I don't know why I had hoped it would be a little less - why would they do that, when people will obviously pay the prices?

Hoping we can use my husband's computer as the primary signup device - mine is getting old and quite slow, and I don't want that interfering :P

Don't forget about those Active.com fees!!

So i'm assuming it'll be about $350 with the active fees for the GSC?

That's not including my pin bundle and race jacket reservation.... Mr Mouse really just needs direct access to my bank account. He takes all my money anyway. :rotfl:

If they increase the registration to $330, yeah, I'd assume it'll be something like that.

UGGHHHHH I forgot about pins!! :( Where's my money tree?!

RIGHT?!

I'm debating waiting a couple of weeks and adding them on later but... with how crazy this race has been in the past I think I'm going to just do it all at once. Rip off the bandaid and let the pain go quickly instead of slowly peeling it back!

Well, in my case I have most of GSC paid for tanks to deferring, so...lucky me? I'll just try to forget that I paid that extra $35 deferral fee...

(...still grateful I was able to defer though!! :))

Here's a question I don't recall seeing asked. I plan to (hopefully) register for and run the Princess Half. My family wants to come be my cheersquad for myself and my friend who wants to run with me. I keep seeing various tiers of pricing for the cheersquad. What does each level get you??

Not sure how this site does with external links - Googled this review: http://www.runnersguidetowdw.com/chear-squad-review/. I'm sure the prices are outdated now, but does explain various levels. And I just asked yesterday about spectators who want to do it free - which it sounds like you can do free at MK or at finish line, or pay for an Epcot ticket. See previous page of thread for the more detailed response I got :)

So is anyone doing training and actually planning on RUNNING these events?

Princess Weekend is the only weekend I can do for 2017 and I've heard some horror stories (from the running thread) about the 10k where people just walk a mile or two and then stand to the side and wait for the bus to sweet them.

Apparently ladies were making fun of ladies who were heavy set ("fat") for running, and the expo was black friday style for all of the merchandise (fighting, etc)

I am training really hard for this, and I guess I just wanted a couple of other opinions. I know this isn't the race I'm going to PR in, and I'm not a heavyset person, but I hate all of that negativity!

I've never pre-ordered pins before. Are they usually the "medal" pins, or the logo pins?

I absolutely do, as do a lot of other people. Like we've been talking about over there, yes...these things happen. There are people out there that are rude and only cross the start line to collect a medal. This does not represent the whole experience though. I've done it 3 years, and will do it every year if I can afford it. I have yet to have a negative experience.

Yes, of course. In my case, I'm not looking to PR but I 100% plan on putting in the work to finish the races and adhere to Disney's 16:00/mile pace requirements.

The running community as a whole is dedicated and supportive. I know the post you're talking about that it's referencing a few bad apples. Don't let it discourage you. :)

YES. THIS. There are way more people like those in this thread and the Running Thread than there are the other type.
