2017 Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend

@bumbershoot - Work calendar has a "Meeting" planned during that 90 minutes of registration, starting at 830am to get set up through 10am to make sure I get in next week.

I am really really really feeling apprehensive about this one. I will have two systems working in tandem on two different internet connections. Credit card numbers copy+paste for easier input and just being ready to do this.

Registering for GSC last year was the most difficult time I have had getting into a runDisney race. That was before they changed how they do registrations (there was no "queue") so I'm hoping things will be better this year.

Also hoping I get my deferral link soon! :scratchin

I just went through a travel agent for my GSC and 10k registration (my mom is the 10k). I've been so stressed the past few times I've registered that I thought this would help. Now I'm freaking out that this is a fake registration and that I'll be left with nothing come the 12th. So much for less stress!

Did they send you a link through Active.com? I bought a TA bib for the Tink 10K this year and it was totally fine!

Not yet. I just did it last night and paid this morning. How quickly do you get active links?

I got mine pretty quickly after, but I was signing up only 2 months before the event and didn't get hotel through them or anything like that. It may work differently since you are signing up earlier.

Did you get the TA info from the runDisney site? I'm sure everything is fine!

Well speak of the devil, runDisney sent me my deferral link! I can't actually use it until July 5, but I'm so happy that it came!! And shocked that they actually sent it when they said they would!

I found them at a travel show. I don't see their name on the page but I don't see acclaim either so I don't think I'm looking in the right place. It's just showing charities. I'll ask later when I get my hotel and ticket quote for the active links

I just looked - no TA info yet (you were looking at the right spot).

I know Acclaim Travel has already been selling Princess bibs, but said that links via Active.com to complete registration would follow in a couple of weeks.

Thanks guys!!! I'm sure it'll turn out well I'm just always nervous when it comes to these races!

I think a lot of us are feeling the apprehension on the Disney races. Any other race I've registered for has never had the level of interest as the Disney ones do - it's crazy how you have to be on at a certain time, credit card ready to go, and buy buy buy!

Well, that's discouraging and unfortunate, lol. I do love the "Run Princess Run" shirts. And I'd love a water bottle, truly. But it is what it is. If they're gone, nothing can be done about it. We can't be there any earlier than the last day of the expo, so oh well. :confused3

I completely understand what everyone is saying about not wanting to buy a bunch of stuff! This has been a bucket list run for me for many years, and after losing 170 lbs to get to run it, finally, a piece of merch is kind of a requirement, lol. I think if it were my 2nd, or 3rd, or 5th, it might be a different story :thumbsup2

Those were the shirts this year, so I don't know if they will even have them next year. There are always shirts that are similar from year to year that say "Princess Half Marathon Weekend" or "Glass Slipper Challenge, but the designs vary. You will be able to get some piece of merchandise. As long as you don't marry yourself to the idea of a specific piece, you'll be fine.

Congrats on your weight loss and on your first Princess!

Me too! I was so happy to see it, so that I didn't have to stress over it...like the email they said they'd send when they charged my card. I didn't get that one until I was about to leave for my trip!

Have you looked at other event pages on the rundisney site to see if it's listed? I'm sure you could mention it here, and one of us would likely recognize it.

Yep.

On Active I have an account and theres a tab for "Family" I made profiles for my sister and mom and it says I can manage their registration for races. When registering for Princess can I use my account and their profiles for do they need seperate accounts? Im going to be registering for the race on my phone 15 minutes before I have to be at work. Im also registering for 10k and 5k only.

.

I think they mentioned this is their first time selling bibs.. That's what has me nervous

Have the prices for the different events been posted? I feel like Ive seen them somewhere but now cant find them...maybe I just saw prices from last year? Idk Im confused lol

Ok, I've been watching this for a bit, but this is my first time posting something. I am planning to run the Princess Half for my first RunDisney event ever! (And my first half ever! I will be running at least one 10k before November, so building up the running distance with a training plan, etc, etc).

I'm curious about how the spectator process works a little more. I understand that spectators can line up at MK and then at the finish line. Do they have to pay to do this? Is there realistically time for them to go to MK and then get a good finish line spot? Are they allowed to line up anywhere else? How hard have spectators found it to get a good spot at either viewing location?

I am pretty sure that each adult needs their own Active.com account to register - you need one, your sister needs one, your mom needs one. They need to register themselves under their own accounts or, if you're registering them, you need to do so under each separate accounts. Multiple devices would probably be helpful.

Not that I know of, no. Sometimes Travel Agents post them early. I'd expect them to be similar to the posted prices for the January race weekends. :confused3

Good choice! Princess was my first half as well. :)

So I spectated in 2014. We saw my BFF 3 times - once on Main Street and twice in Epcot.

To get to Main Street, we were up pretty early to get race transportation. We actually missed the cut-off (they stop running the buses at 5AM...we were lined up at 4:50, but I digress...) and ended up sharing a cab with some other folks from the Wilderness Lodge to the Magic Kingdom. We lined up on Main Street and waited a couple of hours to see my BFF. This did not cost anything because the park wasn't open yet. We brought snacks with us, but the bathrooms and a couple of food stands were open. This was pretty easy to do, and it was fun.

From there, we took the monorail to Epcot. We were able to see my BFF again twice - when she entered Epcot near Spaceship Earth was the first time, then we crossed over and saw her again near Spaceship Earth before she left Epcot. We figured we'd be able to see her more easily here than at the finish, which we assumed would be pretty crowded. This again was easy, but it did require us using a park ticket to get into Epcot.

So I think if a spectator has knowledge of the race course and the Disney transportation system, and if they are willing to wake up early, it's pretty doable. Your spectator could take the bus with you to the starting area and get on the monorail at Epcot to go see you in the Magic Kingdom. It helped that we were able to text my BFF throughout the race to get updates on where she was, since the runner tracking wasn't working very well that morning. :) Hope this helps!

:) Hope this helps!

Yes, super helpful, thanks! It will make my spectators less cranky to hear someone has quoted it as being fun (and even more importantly, that they can do it for free). My mother would stand on the road all day to see me for a second, but anybody else will appreciate the availability of food and bathrooms :)
