2017 Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend

Nope...no POT. Didn't run any races to have anything to submit. Just figured I'll be last.

I chose whatever the one was that said something with 2:45...

If you chose a time that requires a POT and then you didn't enter a POT then they say you'll be in the last.

If you chose a time that does NOT require Proof of Time, and it's in the 12-13 minute per mile zone, yo uwon't be in the last. There WILL be people who entered a 3:30 estimate. If you put in something that doesn't require POT they won't put you in that corral with the 3:30ers. Make sense?

What is the lack of appeal with the last corral? I have only run a couple local 5Ks and a 10K and I always started as far back in the group as I could.

If you're already slower, like a 16 minute miler, and you start in the back, you have NO cushion. No cushion for bathroom breaks or character stops etc. It's just a bit scarier.

Alright guys. Who out there has the backdoor way of finding out our bib numbers? Last year someone found a way right around this time. We did the same for Avengers in November. I know we are all getting anxious!

Edit: we found the backdoor way through marathonphoto on Feb 2nd last year. Since they are no longer taking the pics I don't know that we will find out before official release

For the 2015 Princess, I put the fastest time I could without proof and wound up in L (so 4 more corrals behind me). My friend submitted a proof of time that was much slower than what they required for proof (so slower than what I said I could do). Yet she was in J. From what I see, they take all proofs of time and slot them according to pace. Then everyone that did not submit POT is put in the back 4 or so corrals and spread out based on the time they stated.

I'm doing the 5K for my first runDisney race. Super excited! My friend and I have done a few local 5Ks this year, and we had signed up for Dark Side with a plan to do the Princess 5K next year. Then I saw raw threads had spots open and...now we are doing the Princess one this year too! Which makes me just think that next year we will have to upgrade to the Princess Half or Glass Slipper...

Thank you all so much for the support. :-) If you all see a really, really blonde woman plodding along and sobbing tears of overwhelmed emotion in the half, it's me. Say hi! This is something I never ever EVER thought I would do. I can't believe it's almost here.

Oh, and for you veteran rD'ers on here - do you listen to your own music or listen to the sounds of the race? I train with my own music, but I wonder if it's better to go without?

I can't believe it either, actually. I'm rehabbing an injury and didn't expect to walk 6 miles, let alone run them. It's my 4th Princess weekend, and there's no half for me this year, but I think I"ll still be as emotional as i was my first half.

I'm not sure what you consider painfully slow, but I'm slow too. My long training runs have had around a 12-13 mm pace. I'm sure you'll be fine. I've only done one other race ever, last year...Dark Side 5k. I'm doing all 3 for Princess and I'm a little nervous too. I'm sure I'll start in the last corral, and that's really the only thing that bothers me...starting last. But I have no intention of getting swept...we can do it!

I wish I was at a 12-13 min/mile! Slow is in the eye of the beholder!

Did you submit a POT? My pace is in that range and I have never been in the last corral. Not even in the second to last. You should be good :)

I think I submitted a POT that was about a 1:10 10K and I was nowhere near the back. I was somewhere in the middle both times.

12-13 is not slow at all! That's me on a good day! My first half we finished just under 3 hours, our second half was just over 3 hours (part of the light side challenge and we stopped for a couple of pics.)

I worried and worried about getting swept my first two races and I never even saw the balloon ladies except where the course passed going opposite directions. And we were in the last corrals at both races because we didn't have PoT. If you are not in the 15:30 or slower range, don't worry. My goal this race is to ignore the clock, relax, take lots of pictures, and have a blast without the stress. If I want a personal best, I'll run a boring local race.

Same here! I finished my first half in just under 3 hours with a bathroom stop and selfie stops. I finished my second in 3:15 with a lot of limping, some selfie stops, and a stop wondering if I'd be able to finish. I never once saw a balloon lady. My goal this year is to finish pain free.

So excited! My first 5k - I'm so impressed with all of you running so much farther! I had to slack on my training a bit in the last few weeks, no treadmill and snow/ice meant I was grounded :( We got a treadmill last weekend, so I'm walking or running back on schedule now. I can easily walk a 5k in under the 16min mile requirements, so I'm not overly concerned, but I want to be comfortable running. We're in the last corral bc my friend's mom is with us... just convince me that it's going to be ok and I'm not going to be stressed about time! (if we have to, we'll leave friend's mom behind... but it'd be so much more fun to stay together!).

Definitely don't stress about the time in the 5K. I walked (or hobbled) and stopped for pictures (including a 15 minute line for Vacation Genie) and finished in over an hour. There were tons of people behind me.

Update: my magic bands are apparently in Illinois.... which is still not Boston but I guess at least they're moving? Does everyone else who had this issue have something listed now?

We just got ours yesterday.... and we haven't had any weather to blame! (Louisiana)

My Magic Bands came yesterday after a week of traveling all over the place. So I'm sure you will see yours soon. I'm disappointed that the box is the shipping box. I liked having the Magic Band box separate from the shipping box.

On topic to the PHM, I'm so incredibly stressed and nervous over running it. My training has been all over due to stress/lack of sleep/weather/etc etc etc. I do this every time a race is coming up and I wind up being fine. You'd think after running half marathons for over five years I'd get used to it.

This is also my first Princess weekend since 2014, so that adds to the nerves. Being Beauty and the Beast themed, I keep telling myself if Gaston is a character stop it'll all be worth it. :D

My magic bands are in Illinois too... getting closer! My shirt for the half should be here on Saturday... so excited to see it! There are so many exciting things coming in the next week! Let's hope waivers will be one of these things :)

I live in FL. My magic band was shipped from FL, sent to IL & is now back in FL and should be here tomorrow or Saturday.
