2017 Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend

Thank you all so much for the support. :-) If you all see a really, really blonde woman plodding along and sobbing tears of overwhelmed emotion in the half, it's me. Say hi! This is something I never ever EVER thought I would do. I can't believe it's almost here.

Oh, and for you veteran rD'ers on here - do you listen to your own music or listen to the sounds of the race? I train with my own music, but I wonder if it's better to go without?
I've been wondering this too!

Welcome to the crazy! You will love it!!! :yay:

As far as music goes I wear my headphones but keep them low or only one ear in. Last years Princess I didn't wear them and found on the last parts of the race I really really could have used that boost of energy (or distraction, either way) that my music can provide. The beginning of the race all the way thru Magic Kingdom I was totally good without them though. This year we are back to headphones for sure!

This is my first half also. I run with my ipod but am known to take it out at times.

I don't take music to runDisney races...prefer to "soak it all in." :)

I listen to music and podcasts when I run. I tried audible books, but zoned out too much and missed what the heck was going on LOL!!! I'll be listening to music through all 3 princess races. It won't be too loud though. I want to be able to hear what's going on and be able to move out of the way if someone is coming up behind me.

Just wanted to mention, since @Bree brought it up - you are allowed to listen to music while on the course but make sure to keep it low enough that you can hear everything around you - other runners, volunteers, etc. There will be certain points on the course where they'll have announcements (by a volunteer or over a speaker) and you want to be able to hear those - i.e. warnings about speedbumps ahead, a sharp turn, when the course narrows, etc. :)

my first princess someone did trip over the speedbumps after making fun of the warnings... so please be careful!

I don't usually listen to music during races but if I think it will get tough I bring along my headphones so I have the option if I need it. There is usually enough entertainment or entertaining people running around me to keep my mind occupied so I don't need my own music!

Should I be concerned that my Magic Bands have been in Davenport, FL since 1/27? It just says "Picked up by shipping partners, USPS awaiting package". I am only in Alabama so it isn't like they have far to travel. Just don't want them to be lost :o

mine say the same thing. I was curious about this too. Luckily I have backups. If it doesn't move by Friday I was going to call to see what was going on

Same here, I have my old ones from last time but I was hoping to get the new ones too! HAHA
