2016 Epcot International Food and Wine Festival: September 14 - November 14, 2016

It's looking unlikely I will make my weekend events. Tried to call Disney but so far "all circuits are busy" But their website under the hurricane FAQ says the cancellation penalties for dining are being waived. Hopefully that applies to festival events.

Stay safe everyone!

Our rebooked flight for Saturday afternoon was just cancelled by Southwest, so our trip is now cancelled. Hoping everyone stays safe.

I'm rebooked for tomorrow night into Tampa but I think I'm just going to cancel. We will see what happens tonight. We do have a longer trip planned for later this month

We went to our 12PM cooking demonstration on Thursday rode Soarin. The wait was about 15 minutes. Shortest I've ever had. We left Epcot at 2PM. On the way back to our condo 192 was basically a parking lot. It's raining out now with moderate winds. TV is ALL storm warnings. False alarms are the reasons people don't evacuate. We're going to Legoland to see the gardens on Sunday and back to Epcot Monday for more food. I hope the decorations in MK weren't damaged too much.

We were out there, right before they were closing. Moving all the cashiers inside the kiosks, shutters being put up, Saran Wrapping lights, etc. My husband tried the lobster roll for the first time and he was NOT impressed. Was hoping to ride Frozen (since I've been trying for FastPasses since it opened), but the wait was still 60 minutes!

We were in Italy as you videotaped the flag performers. We left at 4:30 and have been holed up at BWV since. The weather hasn't been as bad as we expected. Looking forward to Matthew's departure.

Well, since it's prepaid and not refundable, there won't be an issue with the two who show up going to the lunch, but there won't be a refund for the two who don't show up.

Unless you call WDW and offer some excuse for their being unable to come, and that won't mean that you will definitely get a refund.

On a regular reservation, if it's not a prepaid one, don't worry if you can't change it, just show up without them. There's a penalty on those only if the entire party doesn't show up.

Here since the 1st. Once the governor declared state of emergency had no issue cancelling Wednesday's eat to the beat concert dinner pkg and beverage seminar. The skies did clear and we were able to see the last Blues Travelers show of the day - yea!

Have been @ Universal - Royal Pacific since Thursday, we were treated well. Moving back over to Disney on Monday, glad our Trader Sam's event is next week. A bit disturbed to see lamb on the menu. We don't eat it. Wonder if they will substitute something else for us.:confused3

They were doing Vegan stuff and Vegetarian stuff for people so I'm sure they will come up with something - just tell them as soon as you get there.
I think they did a vegan sushi roll type of thing.

We were planning to be at Food and Wine this weekend but Matthew cancelled those plans. :( Just called the Reservations line to see if our Culinary Demonstrations could be cancelled and refunded. Was able to speak with someone after only a two minute wait. Not only did she cancel and refund all of our reservations, she also was able to get our refunds for yesterday's missed events. Disney is awesome, whole call only took 10 minutes. So sad we aren't going to be able to make the festival this year, but thankful we were able to get refunds on all of our plans. Enjoy everyone, and if you are wanting to attend the Culinary Demos today thru Monday, two spots just opened up. :)

We did the Italian Regional Food and Wine Pairing Luncheon on Sept 28 and it was very good.

Our Menu: TGmenu.jpg
First Course (served with Prosecco): lobstersalad.jpg
This was served cold and there were some boiled potatoes under the lobster and caviar dressing. This was very good. We also had a plate with breadsticks, bread, olives and olive oil served with the salad.
Second Course (served with Orvieto ): ricotta.jpg cutricotta.jpg
The second photo shows what the ricotta balls looked like inside. These were very good. The tiny slice of white truffle was very fragrant. The chef told us that truffles were going for $4K a pound right now,
Third Course (served with Barbaresco):Roasted pheasant.jpg
This was totally wonderful. I never had roasted pheasant before and would get it again if I saw it on a menu. The flavors were so delicate. The dried pear slice on top was good and the cooked pear slices at the top of the plate added such a good flavor. The vanilla sauce was very light - enough to give a hint of flavor, yet not overpower it. I loved this,
Fourth Course (served with Passito, similar to Ice Wine):cheeseplate.jpg
The cheeses were strong and I didn't care for them as much as the rest of the meal. Again, a slice of truffle, but black truffle this time.
Fifth Course (served with Spumante Dolce):piano.jpg
I didn't know what to expect for the dessert when it said Il Piano on the menu. When it was served, everyone was delighted. The pianist was a thin cookie, the top of the piano was a piece of chocolate, Just excellent.

I asked the restaurant manager if any of these would be on the menu and he said "No". They were all very time consuming and they just don't have the time to prepare this same meal for the restaurant. But it would be repeated during the Festival at subsequent Italian Wine Pairing meals. I think I remember his saying they had six menus that they used for these luncheons. This was a perfect meal and I would do this again next year.

They also served both still water and sparkling water during the meal.

Anyone else attend The Hibachi Experience? I would be interested in your opinion, esp if you had also done it before.

We did it last year and have raved about it all year. Went to it again this year, and now would really hesitate to book it again. Anyone attend the other Japanese Food pairing event? They raised the price considerably and would we would love to hear about it. We had done it several times before The Hibachi Experience debuted and really liked it.

How about the French Lunch? How was it this year? We just could not fit it into our schedule this year, but as long as it gets good reviews this year we will try to do it next year.

We had done the Italian Beer Pairings several times in the past, but this was the first time we did the Beer, Wine and Food one. Awesome, will do that one again.

Unfortunately, Matthew sent us home early and we had to cancel The Mexican Tequila Lunch. We had never done it before and was looking forward to it. We did get a refund. Anyone attend this year? How was it?

Would love to hear from others about their experiences this year at these more pricey events. I have always wanted to do one of the events at the resort/DS signature restaurants, but they never fit into our already booked DVC reservation timeline.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but the WDW website just got my wheels turning...We'll be @ Epcot this Tuesday for a 11pm EMH close. It's our 1st F&W, also 1st pm EMH there. I was under the impression only Future World was open, but the website has both Future World & WS showing the 11p EMH close. And I see an am EMH only list Future World. Does this mean the F&W booths will stay open through Illuminations til 11p? If not, the regular WS food options?

Rhum Seminar

(Sorry for the caption, there. My daughter ran from Frozen to catch the seminar.)
Also, she was able to switch the Italian lunch that she missed yesterday to Monday. She tried to get into Club Villain tonight (that she missed last night), but chose to keep Party for the Senses instead.

PFTS Tonight has been great. Love the entertainment. I'll post a better review later. (It's much less crowded than normal do to a lot of cancellations)
