2016 Epcot International Food and Wine Festival: September 14 - November 14, 2016

Hoping for any advice from F&W experts? This will be our 1st experience. We'll be there 10/7-10/16, and have 2 weekdays planned for F&W. I'm now throwing in an impromptu short hour or so to Epcot next Saturday night (I know, crazy busy). We'll be @ HS & don't want to call it a night @ 8p. So, hopping the boat or walking to arrive no later than 9p. We don't care about Illuminations bc we'll see it twice later. How insane are F&W booths the last hour of operations? Since it's the closest booth we'd want 2 food items & 1 of the drinks, I want to hit the France booth. But, I know it's very popular. Think the line will still be terrible? If so, any booths you think won't be? With such a short time, I'm only interested in trying to hit one booth (if it's one we'd want multi items anyway). :thanks:

I'd say you'd be fine... I've been to 3 F&W & yes some weekends & some weekdays....Yes weekdays are waaay better but even at that point at night time with crowds, I don't see it being any longer than 15 mins. tops...They do move them pretty fast..

I'd also suggest trying the fisherman pie over by Ireland/UK...Delish And it's just on the other side of the bridge near I.G.

The only thing I've read about PFTS so far is "The entertainment was not on par with years past. "

Where have you seen a review? We're going to the 10/8 PFTS and I was hoping to hear about the one on 10/1.

Can't say I honestly care what the entertainment is at PFTS but I am assuming from that blurb that it's not Cirque du Soleil.

Tasting Sampler - I buy a pin every year and usually drink beer at F&W. I bought the 8-coupon sampler with idea of getting the pin and trying different, expensive drinks and lobster roll these are items I'd normally not try. As PP said pin has around a $15 value (my wife started to buy the passholder pin which seems similar to sampler pin and its cost I think around $15. Sampler pin really is big). My total for 7 drinks and lobster roll would have been $77. For me sampler was worth it but I had to do some research ahead of time to make it work. If you mainly buy $4-5 items of course not really worth it.

We just got back and we did both, buy the sampler and also used the little gift card. After reading this thread, I knew that I would probably only use the sampler on things >$7 and the gift card on anything less. As we were going one lunch and then one late evening, we got pretty good use of our sampler as well. We only used it to buy one food item (filet at Canada) and bought one Soju slushie (wife said it was OK) Two marg's in Mexico (good, but not LaCava good), three of the Dole whip's with coconut rum (best use and best buy IMO) and two other drinks of which I don't remember. Figuring with the pin our total was somewhere a little over $70.

I put $80.00 on the gift card for my beer and other small foods. Ate the Pasta, the cheese soup, buttered chicken, several deserts. Drank beer everywhere (this is somewhat normal, redundant and not mutually exclusive pirate: for just this trip).

Was fun time. Also, got to hear the last 30 minutes of the Sugar Ray concert and it was really good. Sang Frankie's - your unbelievable and ended with a great rendition of "I just wanna fly" which ended ten minutes before the Illuminations and was a nice way to transition.

IMO, both the sampler and the gift cards worked equally well. Like so many things Disney, if you do your research and know what you are spending the coupons on, then you can make good use of them. And, both were equally as easy to use for us. Just hand them a coupon or let them scan the gift card. Easy Peasy. I will say though that I think I would use the both over the MB or cash as they make is so easy.

Oh, after paying $50+ for my wifes wonderful Filet at the Yachtsman on Wednesday, the $7.99 Filet at the Canada booth was probably a pretty good buy! :tigger:

Two questions. Do all the food booths open at 11:00 including the ones in FW? If you purchase F&W gift card can you use at the established counter service restaurants too, or just the booths?

If you purchase F&W gift card can you use at the established counter service restaurants too, or just the booths? You can use it wherever Disney gift cards are accepted.

I believe all booths open at 11am.
F&W gift cards can be used anywhere for anything, just like regular gift cards.

Thank you! So sweet of you and your time :disrocks:

When it's came time to book reserved seating for PFTS, I really stressed over which date to attend. I settled on 10/8, the Disney Springs chefs night. My thinking was that night had the best chance of having celebrity chefs attend.

For once I made a good decision! Masaharu Morimoto, Rick Bayless, and Art Smith are all scheduled to attend that night!

I can't wait! :yay:

For the tasting sampler coupons can you use one between two people? Like if you purchased one 8 or 16 entitlement package can two people share it?

EDIT: Also is there a list of what items are excluded from the sampler coupons?

Yes, my wife and I shared it. I wore the credentials, but when she wanted to use one, I'd give her a coupon and she had no problem using it.

There was a list earlier. What's excluded are beer flights and champagnes. They can also only be used at the Food and Wine Global Marketplaces, but I heard people had also used them for the Dolewhip with Rum at the Refreshment Port.

Yeah there were no issues with drinks at the Refreshment Port.

What I don't know is what other permanent locations took them - it really would have been nice to have a list - did not want to go ask at each one
