40 more a night?! For a MODERATE? WTH?

That means values are probably going up 20-25 a night. Given that they are often around 100 bucks...that's a 20% increase!!

Even 40 more a night for a deluxe would be about a 10% increase. That's just CRAZY!

Man, that makes the offsite places I was looking at a lot more attractive..! Are ticket prices also going to go up around the same time? If so, I'd buy them now but I don't know when they usually do that.

When I was "planning" I planned a 10% increase, and was hoping it be less. I researched historical rates and at most it was a $6 increase. I was legit shocked when he told me that price. Now math isn't my strong point, so i'm hoping I miscalculated somewhere along the times. I'm thinking we might have to settle with a value because I was not planning on spending that much for the room :/

Alright ladies I found my mistake, but now i'm more confused... My original calculation of $1320 was before we added an extra night. So with 7 nights based off of this years rates it's $1540. And he quoted me with 2015 rates at $1544 for 7 nights. So either he made a mistake and gave me 2014 rates, or the rates aren't really changing much.

I ended up calling cause I was curious.. For June 1st-8th in a standard room at POR he quoted me $1544 including the tax. Using this years rate with tax is $1320. So that comes out to almost an extra $40 per night which is wayyy out of what I calculated :/

I've been lookin at historical rates for POR too and found it was $234 per night this year at that time for a Garden View. So your $1544/7 = $220 a night...

I think that is before any discounts are applied but I haven't been able to figure that out. I NEED July 30th to come around so I can figure out if I want to go with POR or rent VWL... Come on Disney (and Father Time)!

I just called and they quotes you're getting are not the new pricing. It's 2014 pricing. My quote was identical to what I had already calculated.

Yep it has to be. I did a chat with a CM and asked before I called and they said "yep you can make room only at 2015 rates". I feel bad for those people who didn't calculate prior because they're gonna have no clue when their total changes since they believe they got 2015 rates. This is why Disney should give their CMs the correct info and not speculation :/

I did ask for a quote for 2015 rates and then double checked to verify they were 2015 (as in "so that's the room only rate for 2015?" And she said yes again) but it is possible that there was some misunderstanding? I tried to be clear with what I was asking and understanding but of course there could have been some miscommunication.

POR went from $196 to $220 which is a pretty decent jump up for me.

Some room categories for POR jumped significantly for 2014

Plus they changed season dates. It used to be there was just value, regular, peak. Then they added holiday. Now the rates are always changing by dates. Plus they added weekday and weekend.

I totally get it's the fact that it's Disney, and they can do whatever they want. And the fact that prices in general need to go up. But dang, can we catch a break for once! At the rate we're going in 10 years you're gonna have to sell a limb to go to Disney.

I've had a room-only reservation at BLT for a few months so I'm trying to understand just how excited I should be for 7/30 at this point...

No, July 30 is just the rack rates. Discounts usually come out closer to the time you are going, it seems like maybe 2-3 months out?

But you'll know for sure on the 30th the rate you will be paying assuming there is no discount.
