2015 FREE DINING THREAD _ All Questions HERE!!

This is a known glitch, a few people have reported talking to Disney and them verifying it. I wouldn't stress. If you booked a MOD, you'll get the regular plan. Try not to worry :)
Thanks! I see a few other posts now so I feel better. I guess I was too excited to sleep last night and I'm living up to my screen name today. I just noticed that I never removed my countdown ticker from three years ago from my signature! Guess I hadn't posted in a while because I hadn't updated my ticker for the three trips I've taken since! So glad for the more active Dis'ers keeping me in the know!

I DID IT! I AM THE KING OF THE WORLD! I officially have All Star Sports standard booked in lieu of POP reducing my balance from $3120 to $2744. Now I can be excited and unstressed! And thanks to all of you, I can be excited about the choice to save money instead of stay at our preferred resort!

YAY!!!!! pixiedust::dogdance:

For those of you that were able to modify online....did you have to add park hopper first or did it add it for you?

Will I be able to switch from Park Hopper to Water Park tickets? In my planning I never included either option, so didn't really have time to think about which one I wanted.
I would like to know this answer as well. I didn't plan on either choice but went with PH during my checkout.

Nope, if it isn't offered it is because they think they will already have the resort bookings they need.

I am relatively new here, but this post helped me so much!! I just got off the phone after a 2.5 hour hold... got CBR standard view 11/15-11/20 with free dining added in!! (we already had a reservation for CBR for that time frame, going with or without free dining lol) I am so excited!! I thought for sure that we would need to change resorts, room category, or dates (all of which I was willing to do!) but the cast member was awesome and worked some magic!!

Glad to hear you love POR! We've (almost) always stayed at CBR, and it's been great (for the most part), so I am a little nervous for the change. It looks like we'll be paying full price this year, so I hope POR is worth it!

Isn't that funny...you've always stayed at CBR & are nervous about POR!
I prefer to stay at POR & am nervous about CBR!

Woud love to have had POR, but at 5:30 AM central, all that was left was water view or a Royal Guest room & I didn't want to pay the $500 for it. So, I moved over to CBR. I see that it's all booked for my dates now, too (except a pirate room).

We did stay at CBR wayyyy back 10 years ago (or longer). I liked the room....wasn't thrilled about the pool (anxious to reivew the renovation) nor was I thrilled w/ the food court set up. At POR I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to eat at their sit down restaurant, Boatwrights. BEST sweet cornbread muffins!!! (It's the ONLY place in this big blue marble we live on that I eat cornbread!!!)

Just for the heck of it decided to check my dates I booked ( Dec. 15-21st) first thing online at CBR..only pirate rooms available now. I had booked Water/Pool view. Thank you insomnia..
When I booked all categories were available at 3:00am PDT so now I am curious if the rooms just went THAT quickly or there were less to offer. Will be interesting to hear more as more people report back.

I think they did book that fast. I modified mines without any problems around 4:30 am CST and by the time I made it work at 7:45 am I saw that people where having issues. Tried to log into my MDE account and the site kept crashing.

How is it possible that I have everything needed to qualify for the dining plan and they still wont allow me to modify my reservation? what a waste of a 2.5 hour wait on the phone! so mad right now

We stayed offsite for our first trips to Disney World until last year because we really thought that staying on property was just something that was out of our budget. As much as we planned to cook meals at the condo and save money on food and room, etc, it actually ended up costing us more. I don't cook and after a day at the park my husband wasn't too keen on cooking either so we either ate at the parks or in restaurants more than we planned. When we add that to the cost of driving 40+ miles to the parks each day and paying parking and the time spent being shuttled from the parking lots to the parks... let's just say the resorts really made a difference for us. Having said that, if I hadn't been eligible for free dining I wouldn't have purchased a dining plan at all and would have just budgeted meals and done a lot of sharing and bringing our own snacks.

Oh I can definitely understand why so many people love to stay onsite, it sounds so much more convenient. Which is why I'm glad I'm trying onsite now, and I'll see how I like offsite later - everything is a trade off. For me, I am a night owl, so I really wanted to stay offsite so I could have somewhere to exist when my family went to sleep, I really wanted a separate room. I still had a lot of money dedicated to eating out in our budget, because I didn't want to stay offsite and cook, I just wanted the extra space to relax and a nice resort to go to, since I had no intention of staying in the parks all day with my kids. Or at least a balcony and an interior hallway. I would LOVE to try a deluxe someday, that's what is out of my range. And actually renting DVC points was going to be an option if I couldn't get FD to work, I figured it would be the best of both worlds, I was just nervous about losing the money if we had to cancel. But I figure if we don't try a value resort now, we'll never know if we actually like it! :) I do see us trying offsite someday though, then I'll be able to make a better decision about what works for us. That's assuming I can convince DH to come back to Disney after this drama, lol.

On another note, I'm glad you were able to get your resorts worked out! Or at least you did the last I read, I'm still behind on reading. Although I hate that the Disney Visa thing didn't work out. Hopefully it will help you in the future! :)
