Does anyone have experience with how much the marathons affect park crowds? We were looking at getting in Sat. 11/15 and staying until Wed. 11/19. Thanks!

I think it is great they are doing a race that isn't so girly..........but kinda bummed they are picking a time that usually has low crowds. I guess it won't anymore....DL is successfully making no "slow" times to visit the parks. I'm already curious what the medal will look like.

As far as runDisney and Disney Parks is concerned, the side point of having these events on "slower" days are because of that = slower days. Disneyland rarely has slower time periods, since we have a lot of locals. It's partially the reason why WDW has so many weekends, because not all of the parks see as high as numbers as MK does, so they need to create reasons to bring people to the parks. DLR doesn't have that problem too often. That brings the answer to "why this event is during a slow period of mid November?".. because it's slower than usual. The crowds are there most of October for MHP and die off early to mid november, through Thanksgiving, then it picks up again for Christmas in December. January dies off from the holidays being over, so we have Tinker Bell (or had, I should say). The only one that makes no real sense to me, is Disneyland Half Weekend, which is Labor Day, and all the passes have been unblocked, plus school is starting to go back, or have already gone back.

Anyway, if they picked a busier time, hotels & park crowd levels would be too high, and they won't be able to control the amount of people coming in.

tiggeroo42, Taking the above into consideration, it's normally not so crowded that weekend. But Race weekends do tend to bring a large number of people into the parks and surrounding areas. We're talking 12-15,000 people registered for the race, plus 2-4 people per registrant as friends & family... that's in addition to the regular park guests and tourists too.

I'm sad you're not doing it! But completely understand! You'll have to let us know where you're gonna be at during the races so we can look for you!

The half I saw posted that it was 1:58 I think. Not sure about the 5K. Seemed like it was close to the 30 minute mark. I checked in at 9:45 and it was already sold out.

5k sold out in 23 minutes.

I did get in, I was out the door at 9:07 once saw it was done. I'm so shocked its sold out. But how could I have got a visa discount, darn it i have the Disney visa whaaa

your card's first 4 digits would have been your code to enter. you don't have to use the card to pay for the race.

any place to call and see if i can get the discount? and how much off was it?
also any one have any idea how much the Disney land hotel might be a night, with this sale from the rundisney site?

Yay!! :cheer2: glad you were able to get in. The discount was $15 off. You could try and get in touch with active, but not sure if it'll work. I was able to do it once, but that was years ago before the races went like crazy. I emailed them and gave them the confirmation number and reg info.

Get Travel has the DLH rates at $350 a night.

wow 350 a night ok guess that ones out my idea id rather have that to spend in park lol thanks.
ty i'm gonna call tomorrow and see about talking to them i wanted to know if i could get the pin late. Because i didn't have the cash today but if i got that 15 bucks off i could pay 2 more bucks and have my pin lol

Heads up about the pins~ you can buy them in the future ore-race, not just today. If you go to the race page, there's usually a commemorative items section and you can order it there. I got a Tink one in Dec. Also something to keep in mind when you get to the expo, on the official race merch, you can get the ap discount if you have one and the disney visa discount if you spend overtime $50.

awesome thanks. I do want the pin i just was so down that i couldn't buy it today. had i known about the discount with my visa card, i could have got it. Thanks. I am still calling tomorrow to ask about dl tickets, and if they will have ee/mm and how much they are 4 or 5 day tickets.

I hope they will help me out with the visa card discount.

And DVC (10%)!

Congrats! nothing quite like your 1st half.

I'm so happy my husband & son are registered for their first 5K...going to love this family photo. I better get to working on my own half training plan....oh, and costumes!

:lmao: Im going to want wallet size !! Yeah, time to start picking out costume ideas....lol

I know I am the only one racing in my fam but i'm thinking of getting us all some avengers gear for my men, as well as my self.

PPH is $315 and GC is $444. For race merch though.... Get there early. I mean like 2-3 hours before the expo opens early and go straight to race merch before you pick up your bib. It's going to be crazy! And after DL last year, they let people in in groups for Tink this year. I was in line during for 30 min to get into the merch area and it wasn't even a new race or anniversary year. And DL last year....:faint: no words. It was seriously like Walmart on Black Friday, like what you see on the news. The lines were insane and the wait for people to buy were hours wait.

wow :crowded: that's nuts, but I am now going to order online before we go for the pin at least. I am not sure about the rest of the expo merchandise but I will make sure if we want something we get there early.

They added Jeff Galloway's training program for the race! It's 19 weeks, but really 18 w/ a week of recovery. Starts up July 15th!

Training program!

oh good!!! I didn't know it was up! I have a half in 4 weeks, and then another 4 weeks after that. So I'm thinking after that last half I'll try to just keep my long runs at 5-6 miles for a few weeks and then start training again.

That's my plan. I have a ½ 6/1 and then nothing so I think maintenance until July when Dopey training starts. I'm thinking of using Galloway's until Sept when Higdon's plan starts up.

I made a list of everyone on the 1st post and races. Sorry if I missed you, just post it and I'll add you!

I'm in for the half and my DD (7 on race day) is in for a kids' race.

Though it's just me and DD racing, I am imposing a strict "all Avengers, all the time" dress code for my DH, DS (2) and my niece (13).
