2014 DL Avengers Half Marathon Weekend 11/14-11/16!!!

any idea where the course map for 5 k is?
They haven't posted either of the course maps for either race yet. And since this is the inaugural running of the race we have no clue what way they could go yet. Honestly I'm hoping they post it sometime soon (like after the Disneyland Half, since I think they are going to be too busy with that right now). Because I really am curious about the courses (only doing the half but maybe next year I would consider the 5k if I'm not coming off of the Wine and Dine).

ETA: Didnt see the map earlier for the Half.

Unfortunately, that one could be a lot longer. One year for Tink, it wasn't published until the race program came out a few weeks before the race. Hope it's up sooner, you never know.

It could be completely different, but we could start at the start of the 1/2 on Harbor like DL, at the Mickey and Friends Parking Lot like the old DL, or in the parks at the castle like Tink. The finishes have been by Little Mermaid by WOC and the finish line of the 1/2 which would be behind the DL Hotel. 1 year we did finish on Main Street, but it was really crowded so don't think they'd do that again.

Yay for the course map! Looks like we're running through Angels Stadium. I like it!

I forgot where in Nor Cal you are, but just checking in to make sure you're okay!

wow thanks and wow you are set up for a lot of races good luck

Just wait until you finish and get that medal around your neck! It'll be you in no time, they are so addicting! Especially the disney ones. :goodvibes

Aww thanks Kim you're too sweet! Im in Elk Grove which is just south of Sacramento. Lots of folks felt the quake up here but no damage to any of us. I would have slept through it completely if our dog hadn't woken us up barking lol!

How did your miles go yesterday?

Foot's a little tender but manageable. Now to start amping up the miles again, b/c I'm doing RnR SJ in Oct for a time for Dopey and SW. Really don't want to, but couldn't do any races that I was planning to use so I'm stuck w/ that one. But can't complain, b/c it'll move me up in corrals.

I'm not sure if it was you, thought it was. Were you trying to preorder the Avengers pins for the 1/2 but they were sold out at the time? I only ask, b/c someone posted in the Avengers fb group that they are taking orders again. I tried it through the commemorative items reg area on the rD site and was able to go through to the payment area.

I love the stadium too! Not as good as AT&T, but I'll take whatever baseball stadium I can get. ;)

Nothing's as good as AT&T Park (I'm running the Giant Race this weekend so I'll get to run through there as well), but I'm glad they're bringing back the run through Angels Stadium -- I remember that from the inaugural Disneyland Half, and that was one of the best parts! I'm super-excited about Avengers!

That's my plan. I have a ½ 6/1 and then nothing so I think maintenance until July when Dopey training starts. I'm thinking of using Galloway's until Sept when Higdon's plan starts up.

I made a list of everyone on the 1st post and races. Sorry if I missed you, just post it and I'll add you!

I'm doing both 5k and half.

Have fun! Did it 2 years ago, the 10K, and loved it!

Yeah, really enjoyed running through Angels Stadium at last year's DL half!

Good luck Sunday!! Hope there's coastal fog for you. Not running that one this year, but will be back next year. Are you doing the 49er one in Dec too?

I'm doing both 5k and half.

Added you to the list!

It was and now I preordered them! Thanks!

Yay!!

This might sound dumb but I have never done this before. We are only doing the 5K and my impression is that for us non serious runners, it goes something like this..... Run run run photo op..... Run run run photo op.... Etc. Is that accurate or am I completely misinterpreting it? (I am perfectly fine with that by the way!!)

It's something like that, but there will be many folks walking most of the event. The photo ops are optional, so if you want to keep on trucking, you may do so.

Be forewarned- doing these events can be addictive. I started doing 5k races about 5 years ago, and now I'm running 7 to 8 events a year (most not Disney) from 10k to half marathons.

No, that's it. :goodvibes There are the character photo ops that you can stop or not. People also take pics at the Mile Markers and there are some stops backstage if we go backstage. Usually there, it's parade floats, the trains and conductors are out in DL at the train barn, Custodial Services are awesome and have 2 or 3 banners out for us and they are there cheering and available for photos. Also sometimes in the backstage of DCA there will be Phineas and Ferb and Incredibles.

With the Disney races there are serious people and people who have fun with it so you'll see both. The 5k is really family friendly so you'll see a lot of families and kids w/ their parents. They are so much fun!

Thank you! I am bringing my kids to the Star Wars in January!

No -- I didn't even know about that one, and now it appears registration is closed. Maybe next year.

This will be my first Giant Race. I'm doing the 10K -- it'll be a nice break from the long runs in prep for the Avengers half.
