2014 DL Avengers Half Marathon Weekend 11/14-11/16!!!

I leave in 11 in half hours
dancing

We're driving in now and will be checking in to the Grand Californian soon!

You guys are lucky getting there this early!! I have the 1st flight out Friday morning and can't wait.

Anyone staying at Desert Palms Hotel and suites?

I'm at BW Stovall's, but staying there a night for SW.

I thought it was odd this morning that I had yet to receive an email from our Anaheim hotel, so I logged into my SPG account (reservation was at the Sheraton Park) and checked on the plethora of hotels we have booked - both for this and my business ones. I come to find out we made our reservation for the Disney portion of the trip for 2015 Needless to say I had a panic attack: OMG we have been training forever, what if all the hotels are booked...

Luckily, I could get reservations, not at the hotel I originally booked but a different Sheraton in the area. Lesson to all - always check the full date tha you book - not just month and day.

Oh my god; that would have freaked me out too. Glad you were able to still get a reservation.

If anyone's at the expo early on Friday or the parks, I'll be in my gray W&D shirt w/ the EPCOT ball and a Tink sweaty band.

ill be wearing my lime green mickey head with my screen name on it this time it will be on my water bottle holder so every one will see it I don't take that thing off at all when walking around any where.

Safe travels today and tomorrow everybody!! And have great races, which ever you are doing!!! :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

Thanks JadeDarkstar and Fellowship9798. I had a chance this morning to call runDisney and while they weren't able to change it over the phone, they said I just needed to go to race relations before I pick up my packet. So it doesn't seem like a huge deal, and if I called last week I would have been able to do it over the phone, but it's too late for that now. Oh well. I could just go and pick up the packet and see if they give it to me anyway, but I plan on getting to the expo early on Saturday morning anyway, probably get there at 8 or so even though it opens at 9 - I'll send my mom and the princesses to go poke around downtown disney while I wait in line forever. :cool1:
Anyone staying at Desert Palms Hotel and suites?

We are staying there Friday and Saturday night! DD22 and I are doing the marathon. DH is along for the vacation :goodvibes We've never stayed there. DD has never been to DL and this is only our second time since 2 1/2 years ago.

My friend had a problem with her registration during the last Princess Half in WDW and I think it was her birthdate, also. No big deal at all!

I will be in the last corral and walking with a little jogging. Hoping I don't hurt anything! I wasn't planning on doing another marathon but DD really wanted us to get the C2C, and I always love a good excuse to get to Disney!! :cloud9:

Good luck to everyone!!

Safe travels everyone! Good Luck with your race(s) and have a great time in Disneyland! Can't wait to read everyones experiences when we're done!

Good luck to everyone this weekend! Walking through DTD Disney tonight I was super sad I won't be running.

I'll be wandering around Route 66 in Cars Land Friday and Saturday night and hope to see a lot of runDisney people!

Bummed I won't be able to run this race, but good luck to everyone visiting this weekend! :cool1:

I stupidly thought I would be OK with missing this one because I'm not a big Marvel/Avengers person. So bummed I'm not running :(

:(

Then I was hoping to work the Expo or the events, but that didn't happen either. Oh well. I'll just continue the countdown until Star Wars.

Enjoy, everyone!

I completely forgot to ask you ~ did you get a bib for tomorrow morning?

Got to the expo around 11:15. No problem getting bibs or park tix. D&B line looked really bad and was downstairs where the bibs were. Went upstairs and no problems w/ shirts/bags and was able to exchange shirt. But the merch line looked crazy long. Wrapped back and forth along the speaker series and out into the booth area, maybe 45-1 hr. :( But didn't really want anything so that's okay.

Got to see a couple runDisney sweatshirts in Cars Land tonight :) Hoping for more tomorrow!

If you guys didn't all ready see it here's what I noticed when I checked the forecast this morning:

Out of the rain and into the wind for those of us doing the turn around!

It was ca-razy windy yesterday!!! But, hey, being an avenger , we are used to running in all kinds of weather

Avengers, everybody here and not fly away like Mary Poppins? Just a little wind, right? :rotfl2:

Had a blast this weekend. Aside from wanting to be in the parks more, I really liked the course. It was a little narrow along the trail so that slowed things down a little and 3/4 water stops where it was narrow, I thought it was great. In all the disney races I've done, I have never seen so many runners in costume or themed out before. And in the parks as well. It was so cool. I couldn't believe the lines for character stops either. They were crazy long both days.

I got to the expo around 11:30 or so on Friday and the merch line was really long so I skipped it, but yesterday afternoon, they had some stuff at ESPN still.

I think the biggest shock/surprise of the weekend were the crowds in the parks. I know it was race weekend and the start of Xmas, but it was way worse than Tink/MLK and DL/Labor Day weekend. Was not thinking it was going to be like that. But being in WDW the weekend before and knowing I'll be back fir SW in 7 weeks made it a little easier.

Hope everyone had a lot of fun and didn't blow away! :goodvibes

We had a great time this weekend! I ran the 5K and DH did the Half. He loves Santa Anas so it actually was exactly the thing he needed to feel energized. I was in the VIP CHear area waiting for him to finish and stuff was blowing over like crazy: trees in pots, tables, anything that wasn't nailed down. My FitBit clocked me at 30 miles for the weekend. Not too shabby.

The parks were way more crowded than I expected, but we still had fun. Sunday afternoon was mostly enjoying "sitting down" things: Tiki Room, FairyTale show, parade. No stairs :) Overall, I'm sure this will not be DH's last runDisney event.

Thanks for asking Kim! I was able to get there in plenty of time!

We left Sac at 6am and had no travel issues. Got to the expo around 4 I think. was able to get DD and I the Minnie shoes. I was bummed there was no wine glass for this race but glad I preordered my pin! Didn't buy anything else at the expo. Wish I would have checked the size of my shirt before leaving though. I was thinking it was womens sizing (too used to Tink!) so I got an XL and I am swimming in it! Oh well.

I agree that it was awesome to see so many people in costume. Hawkeye was the only picture line I bothered waiting for and it was worth it. I liked the course. At Tink once you're on the streets theres nothing to look forward to but with this one we had the Crystal Cathedral, the river trail and the stadium so it felt like that broke it up more to me and made the time go faster. That being said the park time was SO short. Really wish we would have had another mile. Missed running by Paradise Pier and the WOC lights and also bummed we didn't run by Small World all lit up. Those are the only things I would change. But oh that wind. I hate wind. I'd rather run in rain than wind. I'm so thankful I took my allergy pill! Wish I would have known it was gonna be windy, I would have brought my sunglasses. My eyes were so bloodshot when I finished and my sinuses are still a hot mess. Hands down my most miserable race experience ever as far as conditions go. My knee let me run intervals for 4 miles and then I power walked the rest. My 2nd worst time ever but I got my medal and thats what counts!

DD did great at her kids race. All the kids were so much fun to watch. I'm glad the wind was down for those so the kids could enjoy them.

I completely agree that it felt more crowded than I was expecting. Tink weekend felt less crowded to me as well. I was surprised though that even though it felt crowded the wait time for rides wasn't horrible. I was with my 2 little ones though so we weren't at any "big" rides except for BTMRR. And I thought that after the race the lines for Captain America and Thor meet and greets would be super long but they were shorter than when we were there last June. Got great pics!

Sorry, I meant did you find a bib for the 5k? :rotfl2:

Totally agree w/ you on the course. I liked for you had things to look forward to and it broke it up. Even w/ the trail, we had the cosplay people on the 1st 1/2 and the on the back 1/2 you could see the "A" and stadium so it gave you something to run to. Wish we were in the park more too. I was really looking forward to running through the castle w/ it all lit up; I really wanted a pic running through it w/ the xmas lights. It may have been, but when I got there it didn't look like it. We saw IASW for the 5k but we didn't run by it and it was roped off so no close up pics. :headache:

Glad you were able to run some! How were the kids races? I'm bringing my niece down for the Diaper Dash for Tink.
