2014 Disneyland 1/2 Marathon Weekend ** Check-In ** Updated 7/29 with Corral Info

Thanks everyone for the encouragement :) After I did the Tink 10K my knee really bothered me (from an old college injury.) I decided to try the Galloway method as to hope not agitate it on longer runs. Last week at my eight miler I felt awesome. I was seriously so nervous for the run, and when I finished I felt like I could keep going. It was such a rewarding feeling, it was literally the longest I'd ever run in my life! I guess I'm just so hard on myself though because I still feel like I can't say, "I ran 8 miles..."

I'll work on getting over it though :D

And also - Belle Ella - just wanted to say thanks for the rec on the GymBoss, got one and used it on the 8 mile run and it was awesome!!!

Had my 8 mile run today and I feel great! :goodvibes

Did you think you'd ever type that sentence?

Every time I hit a new milestone I have a moment of disbelief because I never thought running 6, 8, 10... miles would be something that would end up feeling great but it does.

Congrats!

I know I'm late to the party here but I just signed DD9 and I up for the 5K and I will do the 10K as well. She loves Stitch and is so excited about the medal/Stitch theme. We are doing the Couch to 5K program and had our first workout last night (I will be doing a bit more training since I'm doing the 10K).

I've done the DL Half twice in the past but I've never been fast and walked a fair amount. I'm hoping I can run most if not all of both races this time. Need to start thinking about costumes....here's my Jessie get up from 2010

I think that will be my plan too, hit the official merchandise first thing, then just try my luck with the shoes throughout the expo. I'll have Thursday, Friday and Saturday to keep trying :thumbsup2

Belle Ella maybe you know the answer to this:
Has there been any talk about them doing the same process for the DL Half that they did for the WDW marathon for NB shoes? They actually had a first line where they have u a "fast pass" to return and buy some shoes and it worked pretty well they said.

I know how you feel! I have gotten over that and I actually think I tend to downplay it more now instead. For some reason it bothers me that people think I'm in super shape because I "run". It's like I'm not allowed to complain about being fat or anything now, so I find myself trying to defend the run/walk method and explain to people that I really am not that awesome. I don't know....I'm weird LOL :lmao:

They did something like this at the Tink Expo. You walked up to a NB person at a computer and you put your info in. You gave them e-mail and cell info. Then you got a time to come back and you got a text and e-mail when it was your time. I hung around for about 30 minutes at the booth prior to my time and waited. When it was my time, they escorted me in and I was helped right away. The whole process was very smooth. This was Saturday morning and there was a screen that constantly reported what shoe sizes were sold out, so you knew what to expect (tho, I was told to ask anyway). It seemed to me they had way more shoes than previous expos and had fine tuned the process. I was impressed.

Hi Bella I still don't see my name added to the check in list....

Uh-ohs! Hmm, I double checked the runners list and I see your screen name under the half - did I add you to the wrong event on accident? I'll have to go back and read some posts again. I've been a little out of it lately (pain meds and I disagree with each other it seems)

What would you all estimate is the walking time from the entrance of the parks to the DL hotel? Guess I'll hit the expo Thrusday and just wondering how long it will take me to do the round trip. Thanks.

Look at the area on satellite view on googlemaps or even mapmyrun, check out the path from DLH to the esplanade/bag check/gate of specific park going through DTD. Not long.

That's a good question. Maybe I'll map it out on MapMyRun sometime, or see if it's already there. It's roughly the same distance/shorter than my walk from the parking lot I use to my first check in spot at work which is almost exactly 1/2 mile? That's a guesstimate though.

Was just curious about the distance/time. Half mile isn't too bad. Guess it really doesn't matter in the long run. I have to go to the expo eventually. :) Was just trying to decide if I wanted to head straight to the parks after arriving Thursday or leave the parks at some point on Friday and walk over. Thursday is probably the best option crowd wise anyways right?

If you plan it out, you could cause yourself to be in the Nemo/Autopia area around when you want to leave the park, and get on the monorail. Lets you off just before Rainforest Cafe at the DLH end of DTD, and then just walk the rest of the way to the Expo.

Oh didn't even think about taking the monorail. I could get to ride the monorail and save some wear and tear on the legs. Thanks for the idea!

Belle Ella, another task for you when you can: would you please add me to the Dumbo Double Dare list? Thank you! :)

Thanks Mershell! We are attending Expo on Thursday when we arrive as we r staying at the DLH. Hubby has his eye on the Mickey Sorcerer and I want the Minnie or the Cinderella...want the Goofy for DS,7 and hopefully they have some smaller kids sizes for our 2 DD for Minnie too!

Regarding the NB shoes, I picked up a pair of Cinderella shoes in January. I just happened to be at the expo on Friday evening and they were allowing walk-ups. Of course, there is no guarantee that they'll still have your size. I was lucky.

I know that the virtual queue filled pretty quickly most days. I wonder if it's tapered off a bit with the additional race weekends. So many of us run multiple rD races.

Sixty days until we leave!

Ha! That's exactly how I feel! I even go as far as to say, "I'm participating in a 1/2 marathon" as to not use the verb "run." I'm sure we're both being too hard on ourselves...

Sorry - I'm such a newb - but is there a list that we are supposed to add ourselves to? Or Belle Ella - do you add us? If so where would I find that?
I'm doing the 1/2 in August if I could be added too :D
