Requests can be added to your reservation any time from the day you book up until 4-5 days out as rooms are assigned 2-3 days out. We always add ours when we book since we book over the phone. And just to be safe, I always call about 7 days out and ask the phone CM to read back to me any room requests. Everytime they have read them back to me exactly how I worded them when I made them.
Ok so u can not contact the grand hotel directly you have to call the general number ?

No. There is no way to contact any WDW directly. If you google you will be able to find numbers listed for each resort but every one of those numbers routes to a Central Call Center. WDW feels the resort CMs are better served assisting the guests standing right in front of them. Even when you hit the "Front Desk" button on the phone in your room your call gets routed to the Central Call Center. The Phone CMs will see what number you called and will answer like they are at that resort, but just know that they are not. That is why we here on the DIS always recommend that guests GO DOWN to the Front Desk if they have an issue. Issues get resolved immediately that way.

I'm curious to know the name of your daughter's favorite gluten free cracker ?? My DD12 has had chronic migraine for 8 months now, and we just started a gluten free diet a week ago to see if that helps before starting the daily prescription med. I'm doing it too because it turns out that I have a lot of the symptoms of gluten intolerance...so we shall see! We are such foodies so this is tough for us but totally worth it if it helps, right? Who knows if we will still be eating gluten free by the next time we go back to Disney, but I would love to hear about any good experiences you have (related to your DD's food allergies) while you are there. So far, my DD's headache (it is a continuous headache that varies in severity from day to day) has lessened in intensity and it has only been a week so I really hope it does work!
Holgrain Crackers, Rice, 4.5-Ounce Packages (Pack of 12)
from Holgrain

they are tricky to find. My local co op used to have them. I have had spotty luck getting them from Amazon.

I have always found the room request section to be the most useless part of Online Check In. Most of them made no sense and were not something we would want.

Not really. Providing your CC, confirming your contact information and providing an estimated time of arrival are the most import parts. Those will give you the possibility of Bypassing The Front Desk. Or at least saving you a ton of time if you do have to go to the desk.

That is a huge misconception. Over the years I have had the opportunity to speak to 3 different room assigners. All 3 said they much prefer when requests are called in and in those requests it is described what the guest is looking for. It helps them be able to grant guests requests more easily that way. They truly enjoy being able to grant guests requests and actually keep a scoreboard and try to beat their best "score" for every check in day.

Requests made during Online Check In carry no more weight than those phoned in. Their least favorite is faxed requests as that is just more paperwork to keep track of and they easily get separated from the reservation. When requests are phoned in they actually appear on the actual reservation with all the other important information, like room type, dates, number of guests, etc.
I am from the UK so would not be able to skip the front desk :guilty:. To me the most important thing was building choice, all the other info ( cc, contact info ) is a necessity.

We decided just a few weeks ago to go to Disney World for the food and wine festival, and we will be resort hopping.
At first we had four nights at Saratoga Springs. As I kept checking we lucked out with our first night in the Polynesian Bungalow (last minute cancellation) The second night we are at the Boardwalk. The last two nights we will be in the Grand Floridian Villas.

I'm not crazy about resort hopping, but I'm looking forward to staying in these resorts.
I am a DVC member and had points that had to be used by the end of the year. We decided to "splurge" with our points!

This is our first time at the Grand Floridian Villas. Is there anything special we should know?

We're in a 1 bdrm villa now! Totally luxurious and beautiful.

If you order groceries, I do not recommend trying Amazon Now, at least until all the drivers figure out the right place to leave them. They were apparently delivered (per my confirmation email) early this afternoon, but as of 10:30pm, no one can find them. They weren't at bell services, the convention center, or the runner's desk. The concierge really tried everything to find them. So, stick with Garden Grocer and save yourself the hassle.

Thanks for the heads up on that. I already put in an Amazon order so that it will be waiting for us on Friday when we arrive. I was hoping to not have to hunt around for it.

That's exactly what I tried to do. I thought I had it planned so the groceries would arrive at 2, our plane at 6, and all would be well. Hopefully those groceries are being refrigerated somewhere, because if not, eww.

Nothing of mine needed refrigeration. I'm just hoping to get it right away. I don't want it stuck at the convention center all weekend.

I am thrilled to be checking in and asking for hints, helps and suggestions from everyone here. I am staying at the Grand..do they call it that?...I'm from Disneyland and we call our Grand Californian the Grand...Oct 27-Nov 4, with my daughter and my special needs young adult son. We are doing our own "make a wish trip" for Timmy. I originally had the Bay Lake Tower booked in a studio thinking the extra "kitchen stuff" could be helpful. I need refridgeration and counter space for large amount of medications. After really lloking at the size of the room and bathroom and comfort I changed to the Grand for all but the last night. I have made many fun RSVP along with the Halloween, party on 31st. Club Villian, Cinderella at park 1800, Narcoosee, and Fantasmic dinner package. I plan to have a nurse coming for two of the days that my daughter and I want to spend at F&W. We use a wheelchair for Timmy for distances but didn't need an actually Handicap room. One of my concerns is how many buildings there are to the resort and where we might end up being. They only had a standard room in an outer building available for my dates. Could/should I request to be close to main building and monorail. Pushing wheelchair and if any bad weather it could be nice not to go too far. Any suggestions of how to ask and where to ask for? I also wanted to ask about activities around the resort for a "young teen" how is the arcade? Do you need to have a park ticket to ride the monorail? My Tim has an annual pass but the nurse will not. I'm thinking they could arcade hop between monorail resorts on my day off. I love to share the excitement, thanks in advance for the welcome.
