Help! We have never gone anywhere for Christmas proper (we have always gone to WDW after Christmas) but the kids are a little older and I think we are ready to spend our first Christmas at Disneyland. However, my kids are a bit worried Santa won’t find us so far from home!

Do the official hotels/villas (Villas at Disneyland Hotel specifically) offer any assistance (for example, addresses for sending advance things) in this area? Does anyone have any planning tips for this or experience with this?

Finally, there used to be Christmas Tree chains at WDW where one family would have an artificial tree and then leave it for the next family throughout the Christmas season… each family would contribute a set of ornaments and each family kept one of each. Is that still a thing?

I haven't heard anything about the Christmas tree chain, but that's such a sweet idea. I bet you could get a tree and decorations at Target.

You can have items delivered to your hotel, so maybe you could wrap everything and ship it ahead of your trip.

That is what I was thinking (on both fronts—-although I was also thinking of also bringing supplies to make decorations/ornaments while we are there just as a fun family activity in any downtime.

Has anyone shipped wrapped gifts to the hotel? For some reason I am super nervous about this! I was also wondering if they would do a thing like deliver to your room on Christmas morning… trying to figure out how to hide the shipment otherwise!

My son's birthday is in the summer and we were often on vacation for his bday. I packed his gifts in a separate suitcase (under our clothes so he wouldn't find them). If it was a larger item or expensive, I would pack something that was a hint to what the big item was. For example, when he got a Nintendo Switch, I wrapped a game to open on his birthday. When he saw what it was, he quickly figured out that he would get the console at home.

Personally, I think the pop up Christmas tree might be overkill. If it is that important to have a traditional Christmas, you might plan your vacation for the days after and not over Christmas day. The kids are old enough to know that you are on vacation so traditions will be modified. Santa will find them wherever they are. He may leave gifts on a table, at the foot of their bed or on the balcony. Just include a well written note from Santa saying something along the lines of his trusty reindeer helped him find them on vacation and that he hopes they are having fun at Disneyland. That's just my two cents.
