For anyone who has rented a cabana at the GF, how likely will I be to get a same day rental, do these book up quickly? If you happen to walk by the pool do they always seem full/busy?

We are thinking of renting one, but I don't know what day we will decide to do it. If they book up fast I'll go ahead and pick a day and just stick with it, but if they are fairly easy to get either the day before or the day of then I'll wait and rent one once we are at the resort and decide which day we want.

Also for those currently at the resort, has the daily mill work around the resort been really prominent or disruptive? I didn't even know they were supposed to be doing work until WDWKOOK posted about it (thanks for sharing, btw).

It varies by how busy the season/resort is. If it were me and I really wanted it, I wouldn't risk NOT booking it. It doesn't cost anything up front and you can cancel up until the day before. There have been times that I had my pick of days, and others when they were sold out.

No it has been minimal. They were painting by doors near gf cafe but doors still usable. That kind of thing.

So a good start to our gf stay. Since we are not CL I thought I'd get some wine . At the shop I mentioned I didn't have a cork screw so a gentleman cm gave me one . Then the woman cm asked me if I had a wine glass in my room. When I said no, she opened a cupboard and gave me a crystal wine glass and insisted on wrapping up. It was complimentary too! (I asked how much when she offered)

So when I got to my room and saw my wine and my nice glass I did feel special

Did you people know they have Pineapple cider on tap at the pool bar???? Dd21 is in heaven.
(Tastes like a light pineapple champagne)

That sounds yummy. DS20 (month shy of 21) and his GF21 would love that! For that fact, DH and I would like that too. Wish DS24 was coming on this trip.

$14 and a nice smooth red. I enjoyed it very much. I say comparable to a 9-15 dollar bottle at home.

So we loved the tea! I asked to substitute the cheese plate for the sandwiches for one of them (I forgot to look at price they charged) . Desserts set up like our Disneyland tea time

Do any of you remember Riley? There is a new guy named Kit who just reminded me of her. The same love and knowledge of the teas and food. So I said to dd " he so reminds me of Riley, just a guy version".

Later I asked him if Riley still worked there. Guess what? She moved up north but trained her BROTHER Kit to take over her job!

That made my day!

Here some pix of gone mad party. We saw them setting up on the way to tea. It looked great. We were back right at 8:30 and the line was HUGE! I only saw drinks with light up ice cubes. It was so crowded we didn't bother.

Looked like a good idea just needed more help.

If you build it they will come. No one seems to mind the prices if the line is anything to go by.

Want to add that I tipped the maid in person early. Have gotten lots and lots of shampoo and foot creams etc!

Also for 1st timers. These baskets left outside your room are for you if you need something before your room gets done or if you don't want room done. View attachment 185826

And let's not forget the chocolates! It's all about the chocolate!! I must replenish!

I have done it again, but I think I am done changing our upcoming November reservation. Originally booked YC CL for 7 nights. Added 1 night King Deluxe GF RPC. Changed again to 4/4 split between YC CL and GF SL and finally to all 8 nights GF SL. My husband ( and everyone for that matter) thanks I am crazy! I am so excited for this stay and looking forward to GF.

We tried "The Tea" last year and LOVED it. Are those macaroons I spy with the pastries? We are doing again in November and my DD will be happy to see that addition (we did not have them last year). Thanks for the pics!

I had no idea that was what the baskets were for! Thanks for sharing! I did think that they looked more classy than carts just sitting out there - but wasn't quite sure if we were allowed to sneak something from them if needed. I can't wait to get some new toiletries while we are there. I LOVE the foot cream!

Ha! This is what I thought was such a great alternative to all the carts clogging up hallways -- love it!
Gosh, I don't know which place I miss more -- Poly LV or GF! I think we'll just keep alternating between the 2, with the occasional BC mixed in.

SueM my dd friend from home and her mom arrived earlier than rest of family Sunday night so the 5 of us went for a late dinner at Kona after shopping at DS. When asked if ds was hungry waiting that late for dinner while we girls shopped he said, " no, mom has been putting the turn down chocolates in a drawer,
AND I ATE THEM ALL"!!!

We counted wrappers later, 12 chocolates!

Luckily we restocked here!

Good Morning Everyone!!!

Loving all the pictures...Thanks for sharing!!

The Gone Mad party was for anyone while I was there, to be honest it was cute to grab some pictures during the day with the chairs but in the evening it was just a long line waiting for desserts and drinks with lights. There was a DJ that stopped playing right before the fireworks, it was cute but VERY crowded. Oh I forgot, It did make it hard that evening to get a spot to watch the fireworks.

I have a question for the Grand experts....I love the robe in the room, actually the old one with the GF on it was better but housekeeping couldn't figure out how to purchase either. Every day home and away I put a robe on to do my hair and makeup, with my hot flashes I can't get dressed right away and need cotton. The one in the gift shop and in the brochure is not the same its plush in the inside, I love the 3/4 sleeves too.

Keep the pictures coming, I am only home a month and I wish I could go back NOW!!!!!

Hello hello!!

I need a cabana every trip for my DD and usually book them every other day to keep her out of the sun a bit in July. I usually book them 180 days out to make sure I get them. I have never gone in July and not seen at least 3 or 4 booked. Cabana 4 is closest to the restrooms and Cabana 1 is closest to the bridge. If any are available its cabana 1 because it is only in the sun around 10 then only gets shade. You can cancel 24 hours before and they are very strict with that. With that being said I would book a day or 1/2 day and remember the cancellation policy at least you know you have one.

Good Luck!! BTW call 1-800-WDW-PLAY to book and you can call early, I think they open at 8:00 am (choose a cabana too, or stipulate the one you wouldn't want(not guaranteed)...EVERYONE does and the first one there gets their choice...we try to get there at 9:50 and so does everyone else).
