The last time we stayed at the GF in early 2000 the number one sound we remember hearing was the howl of the wolf from the Haunted Mansion. I don't hear anyone mention that anymore so my question is do you still hear it now? I can't wait to get back to the GF.

Yes! You can still hear it! We heard it when we were there in December 2014 and October 2015!

Nope we weren't able to hoard. We never got more than the first set and they took that set away when it was less than half used. Then we got the little bottles that were never replaced. So there was nothing to leave with.

That's strange they took away the ones you were using. So wasteful, it's not like they can use them. just to take it away to throw it out is sad!!!

We only had little bottles as well. I had to step outside and ask mousekeeping for extra. I used 3 for each shampoo/conditioning so I went through them quick. When we stayed at AKL in 2013 we had the big bottles and thought CL guests got the big bottles as well, but I guess I thought wrong. And we didn't get any other extras like we did in 2013 - toothbrush kit for example. And I feel like they changed the conditioner. My hair felt so dry and almost brittle after using the conditioner. I never had that problem before so I'm not sure what was going on.

When we stayed CL at I can't remember if it was BC or AKL, we had to ask for toothbrush and robes. They still had them. Maybe mouse keeping forgot to replace? Last Aug at Poly (non CL) when we got our room I always look at the toiletries. Conditioner was missing. A quick call to housekeeping and within 5 min a bag full of stuff was delivered.

on the 12th of December, World of Disney is having a special showing of "Mary Poppins" narriated by Dick VanDike. Will there be any special celebration at the Grand?

We just changed our room to Outer building Theme park view so exciting. What building would you suggest to get the best view? Also, we you request a high floor?

Oh my gosh. This is exactly what I love so much about the Grand. My fondest and best memories are of the "sounds"...boats, trains, whistles...it's my absolute favorite part about being so close to the Magic Kingdom.

Agreed! I just came back from staying at the Grand Floridian for the first time, I took my mother as a surprise and we stayed in the Royal Palm Club. We began the check in process as soon as we got out of the car, and the Cast Member walked us into the lobby and right up to our room and then checked us in inside the room... I have never experienced anything like that in my life! The sounds coming from the Magic Kingdom were so special! My favorite thing was waking up this morning to the sound of the steam train and the boats and then we heard the Welcome Show and saw the fireworks after they opened the park from the train station... I cried! It was unbelievable! I did not want to leave this morning... I am ready to go back ASAP to enjoy again! I have stayed all over property, mostly in Value for quick trips as we are Florida residents, sometimes moving up to Moderates which I also love, and a few times we have splurged for a Deluxe, this time being one of them and boy oh boy... I don't want to stay anywhere else now! The level of Disney service at the Grand is so special, everyone always asked how everything was... I don't ever remember hearing that asked to me as often as I did here. I really enjoyed the opportunity to stay here, and if you are able, I recommend it to everyone!! I hope those that are planning their stays to the Grand have a wonderful time! Enjoy!

The sounds coming from the Magic Kingdom were so special! My favorite thing was waking up this morning to the sound of the steam train and the boats and then we heard the Welcome Show and saw the fireworks after they opened the park from the train station... I cried!

This makes me SOOOO happy! I flipped out when I could hear monorail guy from our patio at the Poly - now I'm looking forward to GF even more than before

Does anyone know the policy for having guests in the room? During our stay in RPC, our grandson will be in WDW for a couple of days while his sister is involved with a dance competition at ESPN. If we ask permission, will we be able to bring him back to our room for breaks?

Thanks anyway! I'll be there on the 28th and will have to plan then. It's nice to know these are online though. I do plan to do some resort hopping so this is definitely helpful.

You're hired! I actually have room for a few Grand friends if you don't mind sharing a room with my DMIL I'll have the kiddos with me. I just smile when I think about stepping off DME and seeing that Grand tree
