I just booked my first ever stay at The Grand Floridian! I am so so so excited! My mom and I visit every trip for afternoon tea and to eat at Narcoossees, but this will be our first trip staying there =) Any favorite spots I might not know about or favorite buildings? We are booked with a Garden View but I am about to change it to a Lagoon view since it isnt too much more. AHHHHH! October isn't coming soon enough!

Congratulations -- I hate to tell you this, but once you stay Grand, it is hard to stay anywhere else!!! I will tell you that I've stay both Garden and Lagoon view and the Garden view I have gotten every time was just as nice as Lagoon - not TPV but very nice. I've had 2 stays in Sago and my "garden" view both times was of the Marina and Courtyard at the end of the marina, I've stayed in BPK both times with lagoon view and had a nice view...of the Poly.

Congratulations on the stay! We enjoyed Boca Chica Lagoon View during our first GF stay. While not a TPV, the room was quiet bar the sound of lapping water and the friendly boat whistles. We found it relaxing. It was also convenient to the Courtyard Pool.

If I remember right it's very similar to one I own. Do you remember if it had only like heat and cool and off for the switch?

It did, but I think there was a button for a blast of cool.

I feel like a tweenager bc I'm actually wanting to put a hairdryer on my Christmas list, lol!

So I suspect this is probably a ridiculous question, however if anyone can help me, I am betting it is you guys-how do I go about requesting a microwave for our room (we arrive in two weeks)? Are the chances of the request being met likely?
thanks for the help!

Call the main reservations line and have a request for a microwave added to your reservation. They are first come first served and there is limited quantities so it is 100% dependent on how many others requested one during your stay.

Oh...I didn't know that rooms were allowed to have microwaves. I learn something new here every day.

We just got back on Monday and we had LV and we requested Boca Chica, upper floor. We were given room #8303 and from the balcony to the right was the POLY, straight across through the tree branches was the CR and to the left was the castle. The room was nice and we liked the amount of space we had. Our favorite part of the stay was being able to hear all the WDW sounds, boats, MK train and music... We would leave our balcony door open a bit during the night and fall asleep and wake up listening to the great sounds of WDW.

Oh my gosh. This is exactly what I love so much about the Grand. My fondest and best memories are of the "sounds"...boats, trains, whistles...it's my absolute favorite part about being so close to the Magic Kingdom.:cloud9:

The last time we stayed at the GF in early 2000 the number one sound we remember hearing was the howl of the wolf from the Haunted Mansion. I don't hear anyone mention that anymore so my question is do you still hear it now? I can't wait to get back to the GF.

Yes! I've heard that, too! I think you can still hear it if I'm not mistaken.

Thank you! Hoping we can get one, but we shall see!

I heard it from my room at poly last year, but only early in the morning. We loved that too!

Just booked the GF for Star wars Race trip in April..its been a while since we stayed here as the kids had picked other resorts! Love seeing all the pics!
I have visited the world many times in April and the weather has always been great!

Happy Planning!

Thank you! Good to hear the weather is nice at that time of year! We were in Disney for wine and dine half marathon weekend ..it was HOT!

I've received one before at the yacht club - 2 years ago. And we didn't reserve it in advance. We had a 5 month old and needed it to steam his bottles. We also got a high chair delivered to our room for that trip!

Finally managed to book a stay at my home resort 11 months out - really wanted to stay this year but it sold out immediately so had to go elsewhere, so I'm very pleased I was able to get in this time :) Staying an entire week in Nov '16... points-wise could only afford a standard view deluxe, but oh well, I can't wait to be "home" and it's in such a great location at DW... can't wait!
