Is there a way to ask for the deluxe club room? It would be great to have the space but we want club. But the balcony stinks with little kids? My kids LOVE balconies. (which sometimes can be an issue)

If you are staying SL then yes you can request one..the room numbers are 6220 (2nd floor..large balcony but closed in due to portico roof line, 6320 (3rd floor, large balcony with open traditional railing, 6420 (no balcony due to the suite next door)... if you are not staying in SL that you would have to specifically book a deluxe outer building room... HTH...:)

 It's a "dreaded" dormer room for me too! I find them dark, less light coming in because of solid balcony wall, and I like to see out when sitting on balcony instead of looking at a wall! I've gotten one before in Boca, but when we went into room and saw it was a dormer, I went back to desk and asked if we could get another room. Got a great 2nd floor room in Boca. Requesting Boca Chica again for August. Fingers crossed for another great view.

Fingers crossed for you too! We find that in general the GF is pretty good about honoring requests....:goodvibes

So excited to be staying in a 2 bed villas end of April! We will be picked up by ME at around 7 30 am on departure day- can anyone tell me what will be open for breakfast around 6 30?

Early departure! Hmmmm...Gasparilla's is open 24 hours...so I think that would be your only option at that hour....Not sure what time that they start serving hot breakfast items...

Not been on much lately...had to cancel my WDW visit for my bd week. We had a death in the family right before we were to leave. (hubby's aunt) I was of course very disappointed (and I'm sure you all can sympathize greatly!) and am trying to work out a do-over very soon. This was to have been my first ever trip down there for my birthday, and everyone knew how excited I was over it!
Fingers crossed I can make up the trip soon!!
Trish. hurry up and do a TR!!!! I'm dying to know how your DL visit was!!

Oh grannyminnie ..I'm so very sorry...I hope that you get birthday a re do real soon....

Booked a night at GF for next month before continuing to the beach. We haven't stayed at GF for over 6 yrs. at that time we were in BPK. We have a garden view booked, any suggestions for a building? Thanks.

While I think that BPK is a nice outer building..I would suggest Boca Chica ...which I think has a great location and courtyard views too!!

pas 13 days!!!! :dance3:

Happy Saturday fellow Grand groupies!!! :earsgirl:

We will be staying in a lagoon view room in a few weeks with a 4.5 year old and a 4 month old. So I think the best room layout/sleeping arrangement is a king bed, with daybed for ODD and a pack and play or crib for the baby? If so, what is the best request to make? do all K bed rooms have a daybed - if so, then I should just request a K room and a crib or pack and play, right? And any suggestions on sleeping arrangements if we end up with a 2Q room?

Blue I've had great luck with room assignors and bad luck! I find it can go either way for me, and 2x I had to go back down to ask if I could have another room :-(. Once was the dreaded dormer! Funny, in my request I asked for no dormer in Boca. And again I asked at desk, is it a dormer? Lol.

Another visit we were given A king room, for my adult daughter and I. Daughter did not want to sleep in day bed for 2 weeks. Plus room seems smaller? That was a tad messy, I had Bell Service with me, with our luggage. The bellman had front desk direct line, and phoned for me. CM at desk gave me an attitude, wow. But in the end they gave me a nice lagoon room in BPK.
Fingers crossed this time is smooth sailing! I'm requesting GV in Boca again.

When are you going to be there in summer? We arrive Aug 13. Sizzling is right!!

Grannyminnie I'm so sorry for your loss, and trip postponement.

Oh, those dormers! We stayed in a dormer during our first GF stay several moons ago. We found them dark and slightly claustrophobic. To top it off our view was blocked by a rather well-grown tree. This was in Boca Chica, lagoon view. So, we missed out on quite a bit by having that particular dormer room. We shoulda, coulda, woulda changed. But, we stuck fat.

Sue, I hope you get a great room with a view in August.
I know lots of people that like dormers, but they're not for me.

It's Friday ;) Do you think it's odd I posted I've got no Grand news, yet now my heart is being pulled back "home" :)

Yes pool, drink, Grand buddies :grouphug: I'll be headed down to YC in 13 days for a quickie couples trip with DH. Summer I have Poly/BWI booked, but you know my changing ways my friend ;)
Yes, I'm well acquainted with your chchanges! Lol. Is Universal off the table now for August?

Hi all! Two quick questions...

We are booked GV - can we request a king bed if there are 3 of us? DD5 loves to sleep on the daybeds when we are at WDW so we'd love to have a king bed - but I wasn't sure if that was an option. I don't want to waste a request if it isn't!

Also, can I get coffee earlier than 6am at Gasparilla's? At Poly, I could get my early morning coffee before anyone woke up at CC's - I wasn't sure if that was true at GF as well.

Thanks so much! Can't wait for our August 10 nights vacation!

Lol, my daughter is just the opposite. We booked 2 queen bed room and got a King. No way she wanted a pullout, but she was in late 20's!!
I'm not sure if it's a request or a bookable category, but a quick look on the web site will tell you.
Gaspys is open 24hrs, so you'll be able to get coffee.

Does the main building have dormers, or just the outer buildings? I have had a dormer the last two times I stayed at GF. The first was Sugar Loaf (the first room we got was first floor, and was super noisy, so we asked to move). The second was a solo trip for a convention, I requested top floor that time for the peace and quiet. I had Boca Chica and liked it there. The dormer was great for one or two people, nobody above you. The balcony was not as nice.

We have a standard club room in the main building this trip. Any advice on room requests?

Well, I finally did re-book our trip! That's how glad I am to get it re-scheduled! On the down side, we are stay just off property, near Disney Springs, but I will visit the GF for a meal or two and to listen to the orchestra and piano. At least twice, I hope! DH being really a non-DH, I've scored a coup just getting him down there! And I will at least get him to go into AK. :thumbsup2 He likes zoos.

We have always done big brother in bed and baby in pack in play. ( or big brother could be on day bed). My oldest has been on the big bed since he was maybe almost 4? He loves all the pillows.

I'm not a GF expert, but stayed in main building CL standard view last month. Frankly I was pretty confused with the whole layout of the place before staying, despite the extensive info on this and other threads. I was in room 4418, three doors "down" from the lounge. I really enjoyed the room, location, and view. Here's the floor plan, red dot was my room.

The room, before unpacking...

View to the right, that's Epcot in the distance.

View straight ahead....

View to the left... Clear view of Space Mountain and the MK entrance. The tippy top of the castle is that little spec next to the top tourret of SL.

Sunrise view... Just fantastic....

Wishes view...an unexpected surprise! Not all standard view rooms will have this.

Hope these help, feel free to ask questions.

There is only one standard on the 5th floor and they don't place anyone in it very often, it is an add on bedroom for the suite next door. Also, there are only around 24 RPC standards so not a whole of rooms.

For requests just decide what is important to you. View, proximity to lounge, sound level, connecting or in our case NO connecting door. For us we request atrium side, no connecting door. Usually, that means 4x23 or 4x28 for us. Very rarely we have gotten one of the other atrium side rooms as they have a connecting door. We request these due to sound level. I find the rooms on the long hall have heavy foot traffic with its associated noise. This is the view from 4420 on the atrium side.

My fav place is the courtyard outside of Gaspys. Sometimes we get there a little early, grab a table outside and have a late CS dinner while watching wishes. Or dessert!
Do they have the show music piped in there now? One visit they did, one they didn't.

No, they didn't our last stay 8/14. You could faintly hear the music from MK. Sound travels on the water. It would be nice. Last summer we stayed at Poly, and they used to pipe the music in on the beach near pool, but they didn't have it either :-(. A shame.

:yay: Yay! Congrats on re booking!! Where are you staying? We booked a night once in the DTD Doubletree when we decided to arrive a day earlier than our package! Are you staying in one of those hotels? It's next best to staying on property. Those hotels hsve decent bus service too, running continuously every 30 min.

We're staying at a Marriott very near the DD area. I tried to book that Doubletree because we've stayed there before and love all the extra room, but it was not available to us then using a good discount.
Our hotel is very close to those, and therefore to DD (I really need to get used to the new name "Disney Springs").

I know! I'm still not ready to use Disney Springs either, it's still DTD to me! Took me forever to get used to DHS too, lol!
Our first trip we stayed at The Courtyard on Palm Pkwy. A friend of mine has stayed at The Marriott Village right next to one of my fav restaurants, Bahama Breeze! Yum. And close to the outlets!
