Had to push back our stay from May 2015 to October 22nd-27th 2015. Decided to pass on Club Level too. Was sad at first but we love F&W and Halloween so it's all good. It just feels like forever before we'll get there.

I would love to switch resorts if I could because, yes the slide and the whole SAB usage was a big factor in why we picked the BC.
Unfortunately, I am not on a cash reservation and am using my DVC points to be there.
Since we can pool hop, we could use the slide at the Boardwalk any time we are staying DVC, but we can't with SAB, again another main reason why we picked this resort.

Now, it is pretty much impossible to change our reservation to another resort because their is no availability for our dates.

So yes I am a little upset that we won't be able to use the slide and who knows when we will ever be back at the BC.

....I understand that the pool needs maintainance. However Disney should inform me, best before I make a reservation

Bummer. Trust me, your pain is shared by many here. Sometime this communitcation thing is a difficult concept for places to understand, such as Disney (they aren't alone in this matter). That's one reason I try to keep up with this Board, just to stay informed. I hope you both are able to make the best of this situation and don't let it ruin your vacations there in January / February.

...Our family has stayed at BCV's for marathon weekend in January for the last 6 or 7 years. Some years the only thing in the pool is ducks. Some years it is very nice but still very few people in the pool. February for Princess weekend will be similar. Our ability to walk to EPCOT and enjoy the BC atmosphere far outweigh and 'curveball'.

Just wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you for the information you gave me earlier on the Be Our Guest reservations using the FastPass web site. The rule apparently is that you can book a reseration on that site 27 days out. Well, today was that 27th day out for us and the December 1 lunch I've been trying to book there. Thanks to your help and the help from others here I was successful in getting that reservation. Had to move some FP+ ressies around but for post-Thanksgiving that really isn't too much of a problem. Again, thanks for your help.

FYI- bus service this AM to MK from Beach club was terrible- many were going to be late for Breakfast resides

Go SUPER early!!!!

Good Day Lucas,
We are currently here at Vero Beach for our 4th trip. We did 5 days BCV for F & W followed by 6 days to relax at Vero
I agree with Teena, the Ocean Grill is a very nice restaurant for dinner. The Crab au Gratin is out of the world. It is a bit "upscale" for the beach vacation but very nice.
We find Disney's Vero Beach Resort to be closer to Sebastin than Vero itself. We have found several "casual" restaurants that we like in the Sebastin area.
We usually eat at Captain Hiram's = some criticize that it is a tourist trap and it may be, but we find the food to be good and reasonably priced. We also like Squid Lips, right on the dock on the Indian River as well as Mulligan's which is adjacent to Squid Lips.
Enjoy Vero, it is a very nice resort

Thank you so much!!! I'm off to check them out. I believe I've read about Squid Lips before.

We check in on Saturday (we plan on the Ocean Grill on the way there) and I just made ressies for the Sunday brunch at Shutters.

Hope you are enjoying your vacation!

If it rains during my vacation does Disney offer any refunds since I can't use the pool. I am booking the Beach Club in January exclusively for the pool. Even though there are other things to do my trip will be a total bummer if I'm not at the pool as much as possible.

After all, it's the staff that closes the pool. Could they possibly keep it open later that night to make up for the closing? What about if it is too cool to go swimming? Shouldn't the pool be open for longer hours when it's warmer to make up for the lack of swim time when it's 50 degrees out? I only have so many hours during my trip that I can spend at the pool. Shouldn't Disney adjust their pool hours schedule?

If Disney knows it's going to be cold outside during the winter months in Florida shouldn't they warn us ahead of time? Perhaps a little asterisk notification that if you book during the winter months that the water might be a little chilly. I'm all for truth in advertising so Disney may need to be more up front about the fact that it can be cool in the winter in Florida, at least until they become omnipotent and figure out how to control the weather. They are working on that, Right???

Signed, Buzzy the fly, your Beach Club Resort guy

Honestly, I can't tell if this is serious or not. Please tell me you're being sarcastic.

Don't worry, Flyz Ondewalz is always posting just to be funny. Also known as Buzzy, this poster is just about good fun that should only be taken as a fictitious and humourous post intended to get us to use one of the following emoticons... :rotfl2: or :rotfl: or :lmao:

Buzzy doesn't have a serious nor mean bone (or eye) on his body.

Word of warning! Take a copy of your reservation. I showed up today and they had no record of my fastpass reservation. I had emailed myself a screenshot of the fastpass but couldn't find it on my phone in the sun. I went to the side to find it on the fast pass page and hit modify instead of view.

The lady let me make another for a half hour later. Which she also said she could not find in her system but she had written my name down and remembered my smiling face and let me in.

Good thinking. Glad you were able to get in. I am hoping to get a BOG lunch reservation for December 7 and planning to screen shot as I have in the past. Have heard about the disappearing reservations.

Bwahahaha. No, they won't, I think Disney is trying to discourage you "fly" types from visiting, and getting into everyone's Sunken Treasures, sorry Buzzy.

@MickeyT: Thank you for calming me down. I talked with my fiance and we really want to have the lazy river. So we will prolong our stay. The original plan (already booked) was 19. February to 1. March BCR and 1. March to 6.March French Quarter. So I try to get BCR till 6. March - three days lazy river. :-)
(as to the weather: everything about 20 deg. Celsius is ok for swimming with him - Viking blood? )

@Flyz Ondewalz: Might be funny for you, for me at my situation it is not. The culture in the US is kind of different. Here when hotels especially promote something - be it a great pool or quiet area- they have to offer it. If the pool is closed - according to their plans - or if the area is not quiet and they know it - they have to tell you as soon as they know. Otherwise you can ask (or go to court) for refund (not big, only parts of what you paid). It is very common here, so dont call us crazy! (this is for hotels - amusement parks is different)

Thanks. I'll put that screen shot in with my paperwork (don't have one of those fancy cell phones you see important people or teenagers carrying around). I do wonder why they open the reservation window 27 days out instead of 30 like most others. I am looking forward to the "grey stuff".

Hope you have a great time at the BC/YC. They did tell you about the renovations at the BC that are going on, didn't they? See page one of this thread for more information on that if you need it. I am assuming you have made all your dining reservations by now. Although the time of year you will be at the park (late February, early March) tends to be slower than others there still could be high demand on prime dinner spots so you will want to make sure you have those completed now rather than later. If you have any other questions about accomodations, attractions or dinner reservations, please be sure to ask. There are lots of folks here on this thread ready to help.

Sorry for my absence the past few days. Busy times. Busy times!

In other news....HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEE! You get a pirate. pirate: You should get husband to take you to Seaglass (local, fabulous restaurant). That would be nice of him. Having seen your "sneaky peek" photos of the carpeting you mysteriously found in August, I have a feeling the "new and improved" BC is going to parallel the vibe going on at Seaglass, so you'll feel right at home!

Thanks for the birthday wishes! I still have not been over to Seaglass, but it really is tempting. I know I would love the view. Our family is not really big on recognizing birthdays, but I did go out Monday night with 15 of my friends to celebrate.

:woohoo:

Yes! The French Toast Scent! When we were there in December, we were staying at YC, and as soon as you entered over by BC, there was this borderline nauseating scent of french toast that radiated from the BC Lobby! It was at the GF as well, but it wasn't nearly as overpowering! I like the regular scent a lot more.

With our new kitty, we may be putting up the trees (yes, that's plural) as soon as next weekend. We'll put them up with no lights or bulbs for a week or so to see what Sheldon does to them. Hopefully he's not a climber!

Our kitties climbed the tree the first year we had them, but have been pretty good since then.

Good luck!

:cat:

Hi all! We are currently enjoying the YC right now and ended up with an amazing room! We booked standard view but ended up in room 1001 - end room and huge! View of the lagoon and Boardwalk! So excited with this pixie dust! Loving the resort and its location! A bit too chilly and windy to swim today but so gorgeous!

Thanks for the report! So glad you are having a great time.

:goodvibes

Home from a great stay at YC. I was in 4223, a garden view that was more "obstructed water view" and I could look across and the boardwalk area. I was afraid boat/pool noise would be an issue, but it wasn't. Only noise was the guy next door who cleared his throat, gagged and retched for hours at night. He was my welcome on night one, I thought he left or quieted down, but he returned to trouble my sleep last night. Not sure if he was that loud or it was sound proofing trouble...although I didn't hear anyone's toilet flushing which is the typical room prob. I could also see the higher fireworks from Illuminations at night. Boy was there a cloud of smoke over BC afterwards.

Thanks to all who helped with my shower issue. I got it working correctly and managed to shower without creating a lake.

Happy to see the globe back in the lobby. Last stay it had been relegated to near the gift shop because, a CM told me, the fire marshall said it was a hazard in the lobby.

We appreciate your report. Bummer about the loud neighbor.

:)

Hi All!

Just jumping in on the thread now although it's been really interesting reading all your posts! We are T-Minus 2 weeks until we check in for 12 nights at the YC in CL. (Nov 17 - 29)

This has really become our second home, everyone in the family loves YC and how quiet it is... at least until we check in. After trying almost every hotel on property, this is our favorite I think.

Key things we are looking forward to? Illuminations Cruise on the 19th, reservations for California Grill during the MVMCP Fireworks and finally getting to ride the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train... unless they decide to burn it down again!

Andrew

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1.

Sounds like some fantastic plans!

:cool1:

Just got back today from our stay at Beach Club. We had an amazing vacation but we all pretty much agreed we liked Yacht Club (we stated there last year) more. BC seemed pretty worn, even the towels in our room were worn out and frayed. We did book a BB for next year, excited to be going back to YC then!

Glad you had a great stay. When is your trip to the YC next year?

:cheer2:

Leaving in two days and have repacked 3 times already. Weather for the weekend looks like highs barely at 70 and lows in the 50s. I guess the Xmas party will feel a lot like the season. I'll still take it since it's a high of 50s here in the midwest. Glad the pools are heated!!!

I haven't seen many comments about this so excuse me if it's been discussed, but is it worth it to get the kitchen sink at B&C or go for the No Way Jose? we will have 5 adults and 1 child (4) with us.

I haven't had either, but the No Way Jose looks amazing!!! I think 5 adults and a child could do a pretty good job on the Kitchen Sink. And hopefully consume it before it melts into an oozy mess.

::yes::

It's just sinking in that we'll be at BC in less than 1 month! This will be the first time with the kiddos. My hubby and I stayed at the BC 8 years ago for our 10th anniversary. Did I mention that I'm excited!! I have a few questions.

1. I'm unsure of the pros and cons of online check-in. We'll be driving from PA, so we'll be arriving late afternoon. I'm thinking we'll skip the online check in unless there's a reason that we should. We do have some room requests, if that matters.

2. When we stayed at BC 8 years ago, the Marketplace sold the most amazing gelato. Do they still offer it?

3. I remember that there was a time that if you wanted a real egg (anywhere on Disney property) and not egg beaters that you needed to specifically ask. Does this still hold true?

4. Has anyone been to DTD lately? How horrible is parking in the late morning/early afternoon? My boys have a BBB appointment around 3:00 pm. I'd really much prefer driving and would be totally willing to valet. However, I don't think that's an option until after 4:00 pm. I thought we'd go in the late morning and have lunch first.

Thanks!!!

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list. November?

:woohoo:

1. One of the advantages of doing the online checkin is that you can provide your credit card info in advance, so it is a little faster at checkin. I don't believe doing online checkin makes it more likely for you to get your requests than regular checkin, but I could be wrong about that.

2. They no longer have the scoop and serve gelato at the Marketplace. According to what I have read, the bakery in France has some fantastic gelato (but why France, not Italy?) Don't know. But at least it is close to the Beach Club.

Sorry, I don't know about the eggs or parking at Downtown Disney

:)

I'm really excited! I made reservations for YC CL LV for June 12-19, 2015. Would you please add us to the BOG list ?

:welcome: back!!!

Will do

:yay:

Just popping in to see what's new at YC/BC. We just booked a split stay with GF for YC club level 1/30-2/3. We've stayed at BC 3 times but never Yacht and are very happy to have the club amenities. We got a standard view room. The AP discount was fantastic for Jan.

Are club level rooms on same floor as lounge and separate from regular resort rooms?

Are standard club level rooms bad views - like garbage cans or parking lots?

:wave2:

:welcome: back!

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

Yes, all club level rooms (except for the 1BR and 2BR suites) are on the 5th floor, separate from the regular rooms, Floors 1-4.

There is a Yacht Club View thread on the Resorts Photo Subforum (it is currently near the top of the forum) where you can go to see samples of view by category. In general, I don't think the views are too bad (I don't mind the rooftop views) but there are one or two that are pretty bad.

:)

We just booked our stay for May 2015! We haven't been since Magic bands have taken over, will they just scan these now at the pool, instead of handing out bands to wear?

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

:cool1:

Had to push back our stay from May 2015 to October 22nd-27th 2015. Decided to pass on Club Level too. Was sad at first but we love F&W and Halloween so it's all good. It just feels like forever before we'll get there.

Honestly! What is up with that?

I have offered my reservation number to restaurants a couple of times when they couldn't find my name on the list and have been told

"We don't have reservation numbers in our system"

What?

Why does Disney give them out if the restaurants can't access them?

Good suggestion, all, about the screen shot.

:thumbsup2

@Natebenma: Thanks

@Katesdad: I have the information from DIS. Asked Disney for confirmation. As to reservations: yes, we have all ADRs we wanted :-) plus Disney Behind the Magic tour. Really, I did never so much planing for any holiday.

@Flyz Ondewalz: Might be funny for you, for me at my situation it is not. The culture in the US is kind of different. I stand corrected! I was not aware that the hotels in England never close for maintenance lest they be sued by the guests. You are correct when you say that it is different here in the States. I'm sure there is a reasonable period of realization that the facility might need maintenance and a reasonable period of time that would serve for advance notification. The fact that Disney allows guests to make reservations so far in advance of the fact that a facility might need to be closed for renovations is a consideration that we all must take into account when going out on a limb and making that reservation.

The posters on this board do a fantastic job providing readers with as much information as possible to help everyone plan their trips. Please keep in mind that these efforts are made without Disney's consent and are only meant to help you in a way that other guests can. If you want the absolute correct information about the exact time and scope of any closings on the part of Disney you need to direct your comments and concerns to them. The silence you hear back from Disney will be deafening.

I really do wish that you have a Magical trip. As with any trip there will be unexpected changes that will happen as a natural course of the trip. I wish you the best of luck with that.

Buzzy

Any new updates on the BC CL refurb? We check in on 11/21 and we are hoping the new lounge is open.

We have not received any contact regarding our room so I assume all is ok. Hope all the rooms are completed!
