**2013** What's on the Emerald Aisle???

Can someone help with a question? I am a Emerald Club member and I am flying into MCO 8/16. Made a reservation for full size car. It lists on the reservation for a Emerald Reserve service. So am I better offer changing my reservation to mid-size and picking up at emerald club full size or better? But if I keep my full size reservation will I have a chance pick a car other then full size in Emerald Reserve or will I have to pick from the full size line only? I want to keep my rate the same if not lower. Thank you.:confused3

Emerald Reserve means you will select from the full size area and that is it. You have reserved a full size car.
An Emerald Club reservation means you are guaranteed at least a mid size, NOT full size. You might get lucky and get a full size or better. The complete program rules are on the National Web site under Emerald Club. Executive level always gets a full size or better. Perhaps you were confused.

This "argue" seems to be a continuing trend at MCO. I have had them try to tell me I can't use the Executive Aisle and one person was INCREDIBLY rude when I asked where the Premium Aisle was basically accusing me of trying to "cheat" the company even though I had reserved a premium.

I think it may be time to start taking names and asking for a manager LOL!

I agree completely with taking names and asking for a manager.

Did you still pay your Emerald Aisle price? Any issues leaving the garage since it came from the minivan aisle?

If the greeter sends you to a different class of cars, you would not be charged. They are told what they can offer as upgrades for EC members on a daily basis.

OCC, that is pretty much what happened. The woman was very pushy. She was about to take me by the hand and walk us over to the economy line?? When I finally said NO. Do you want to see my card or reservation info? Or, is there a reason you do not believe that I am on the EA? Finally she backed off, but it was upseting to start our this way.
Kinda, comforting to know, we where not the only ones. thanks.

mky :cutie:

That stinks. The greeter's job is to direct people, not to give them the third degree. When I was there I could access the computer and find out information IF the need arose. Lots of people don't know what they have rented, don't know the EC status and it is helpful to be able to access that data, however, most of the greeters cannot even turn on a computer, let alone access the info. or they are too lazy to even try.
I used to let them take whatever they wanted and let the exit agent handle it. :)

My reservation says "Aisle & Executive Service". Do I go to the executive aisle or the main aisle?

Sorry, this is our first time with National so I have no idea.

First timers go to the Emerald Aisle, you have to rent a lot to go to Executive aisle.

Emerald Aisle is on the left on A side and on the right on B side. The greeter will direct you.

I've got a question

I'm Executive from a MasterCard promotion and it's my first ever time renting with national. I booked an "Executive eligible" car on the site and it shows the level of service as Counter. Is that Executive aisle or is that the emerald reserve thing?

Might be just, a mistake in the booking process? I had this come up once too > so I just re- put in my info [[ starting from scratch ]] and it came up emerald asile as level of service on the 2 nd attempt.
If you've registered / and joined the "national club" with national and have the asile level [even if its through your credit card] you should be able to just sign in and if your renting a midsized or full sized car > should not have a problem. and should read emerald asile.

Good luck, I would just try again > if it doesn't work give them a call.

When you sign in via the Emerald Club log in, you select midsize for your vehicle. If you select any other size, that is an Emerald Reserve status reservation. What size vehicle did you select?
The counter service might be because this is your first rental. They are going to send you out to the garage anyway, so, just go there without stopping at the counter.
Also, another reason for the counter status might be because your profile is not complete.

Full size would pop him into Emerald Reserve. Emerald Aisle is always midsize.

If you are executive and you don't see what you want, just ask for something else.

I do this all the time as I am sick of driving impalas and corollas. It has usually ended up with a premium vehicle like a grand cherokee, a volvo SUV, or sometimes a luxury car (gotten several infinitis this way). I have also asked for a smaller car and gotten some nice ones like a Jetta Sportwagon, etc. Depends on what I am doing on that trip.

I don't know if you'll have much success with this if you're just emerald aisle, though. Those cars tend to be a lot more marginal.

Do you ask for something else in Orlando? My experiences there have not given me any better options. It worked much better in other airports but there ,,,,

The last two times I reserved a premium I got "lectures" on " taking cars executive members are not entitled to" and when I insisted I had a premium reservation I was shown one car in the premium 'aisle"

I am trying to think if I have but I think the last 2 times we have gone to orlando and rented, we actually wanted a SMALLER car so took from the compact aisle. No one said anything either time.

Typically, when they see my rental history, I get asked "what car would you like? you can have anything we have."

I imagine at Orlando they get a lot of issues with newbie travelers who think that they are emerald club and get their choice of the lot. I have often had better luck by simply being nice and going to the booth and saying "there's nothing in the executive aisle I'd prefer. I was hoping for an X (smaller sedan, small SUV, etc.) is there anything available that I might be able to take?" I have better luck with this when the selection is oddly skewed eg the only choices are giant Yukons and an Altima.

The only other place I've gotten a lecture was I want to say LAX, where the layout is really dumb and I was in the premium aisle by accident. But then they pulled up my history and I was allowed to take the car anyway.

Given this experience people seem to be having I'll be sure to print my reservation-- it clearly says "corporate executive" on it (my company has a contract with National, that means I can book at any location, for any date, for a fixed rate that is very low. It's occasionally caused some surprise among new rental agents.)

LOL, I worked for National. I know what is allowed day to day and what is not. :) some days you can do some pretty amazing stuff, other days, not so. It depends on supply and demand. The Infinity, btw is a Premium car and in some cases a Fullsize Elite. You also don't have to be Exec. level to ask for something else. Just don't be upset if they cannot accomodate you, exec. or aisle level. They are charging you for a mid. size car, anything else is icing on the cake. (yes, I know that Exec. will always get at least a full size car).

You have such bad luck there. The Prem. row is usually pretty bare, mainly cause Enterprise takes them for their customers and on B side there are only like 2 spaces for them. Not many more on A side. I used to ask those with Emerald Reserve to let me know if what was available did not suit them. If it did not, I would escort them over to Alamo and have the greeter there show them to Premium. It used to irritate me when the greeters did not know how to use the computer to look up a reservation, they were trained. They were just lazy. Of course, it used to irritate me when EC members did not know their status, decided they could have anything in the garage or made a reservation for a full size and decided that anything on the exec. aisle was their for the taking (not implying that you did this).

We did not go by rental history. We go by levels. Corp. exec. is exec. level and entitles you to select from the exec. aisle. If there is something else you would like and we can accomodate you, then great, but, it is because we can do it for any exec. level customer or aisle.

I don't doubt it, which is why I said if executive you should always ask if you don't see something that is to your liking.

I traveled to the same place many weeks in a row (like, 45 weeks straight) so the folks there knew me by name and I knew all of them by name-- so undoubtedly I got some extra things that might not have been given to a stranger.
