2013 Marching Band Thread

We travel to all games as well. Fortunately they are usually not too far away. I am just glad we are done with Thursday games. It is sooo hard on the kids to be out that late and then have to get up and go to school the next day. Last weeks game was great though, came down to the last seconds of play, and we won.

It's time for Friday Night Marching Band, I mean football. ;)

Home game for us tonight, hoping the thunderstorms stay away...

Good luck to everyone.

Love this. The last 2 years, the band was the only reason to attend a football game as the football team was bad. :lmao: It was comical to see the stands clear after the halftime show.

Our band has consistently ranked superior for well over 30 consecutive years. The football team, not so much.

This year, both the band and football team are doing well. Football team is 3 and 0 and the band is really coming along with their show. :yay:

Last week's game was home and it was sooo much fun to watch the band and the football team and cheer for both.

At the end of the home games, our school has been having the football team and cheerleaders go over to the band stands and while the band plays the alma matter the football team stands attentively at the end of the song, they all cheer for the school and each other. So neat to see such a big part of the school salute each other. And then the baseball team cleans the trash in the stadium! :thumbsup2 And the JR ROTC directs traffic before and after the game. Seeing so many of the student body come together to make Friday night an "event" makes me mad that in the local newspaper's sports section only the football team and cheerleaders get the credit for Friday night football.

Ok, off soap box.

Good luck to all!

I love that!! And as with all things, who gives two s*its what the media does... WE know how much the band contributes to the whole Friday night experience, and it sounds like for y'all, so does the football team. That's awesome. :-)

We have a bye this week, which is perfect since we're having flooding rains today, tonight, and tomorrow. Get to spend a Friday night inside playing video games for once. Team is 3-0 so far, but Pearland expects nothing less!

We want that State Championship title back BAD this year... And getting to march in Cowboy Stadium again for the last marching performance of his last marching season would be completely awesome. I am saving aside a vacation day just in the hopes they get to go! :yay:

Good luck to all the bands and teams who play & perform tonight! :cheer2:

Our district does that too. At least the football team stands in front of the band. I don't actually remember what the cheerleaders do.

Hi! Sophomore clarinet mom here :) I met KatyBelle at a competition last year. KatyBelle- my inbox is full and I can't figure out how to delete from this iPad thingy... So yes, still in it, but not spending much time on the dis lately- started night school and it is taking more of my time than I thought :(

We have competitions in St Louis, Tulsa, and Blue Springs- would live to see you or any other dis friend that's going!

Yay! Maybe we will be at the same Tulsa contest! Our band is going to St. Louis Oct. 19 and I had planned to go, but I've changed my mind. They have to march at the football game on Oct 17, so they will drive to St. Louis Friday, compete Saturday, and drive home Sunday. Usually they spend a day sightseeing. Its a bit far, and a bit expensive, for me to do such a quick trip! I will save that $ for DISNEY in March!

All of our contests are in Tulsa...well, Union, Broken Arrow, etc. I hope we match up!

Homecoming tonight here! We had thunderstorms yesterday, and they cancelled the parade last night. Its supposed to be clear tonight for the game, I hope so!

DS has been sick, missed 3 days of school and a big evening rehearsal. He might be WAY behind on the show tonight! They are learning drill very fast right now, since they are so far behind! He still wasn't very well today, but fever is gone, so he decided to push through and go!

They wear their uniforms for the first time tonight! I was busy helping get them ready, until I got sick with DS. My poor partner in crime, The Uniform Queen, is exhausted. I feel bad, but she didnt' want to get sick too, so I stayed away! She texted me yesterday..."Do you have uniform 136 at your house?" UGH! NO! She did find it! After tonight, it should go well.

First contest next Saturday, at Owasso, OK. Send me a PM if you will be there!

Katy

Homecoming here tonight as well. Beautiful weather expected (high of 79) so it should be around 70 at step off. The drill is done for the marching band. Color Guard still has to learn the last song. I saw a preview last night and color guad is rough. My daughter has a possible broken thumb and another girl has a severe neck strain. They really look like the Marching Dead. :rotfl: And then there are the two new kids, one of which didn't pick up guard as quickly as they were hoping. But it's super early in the season and if they do well and continue to pick it up quickly, the new band director has state he may put them in Nationals in Pennsylvania in November. Something to work towards.

Good luck to everyone this season!

Thunder is rumbling and the rain is pouring here so who knows if we will have a game tonight or not. They won't make the call for a few more hours. I would rather they call it then have to sit in the rain.

BOA Austin is next weekend so hopefully our practices can go on as scheduled this weekend.

Tonight is a warm and beautiful night for football. We have a home game tonight. DS just stayed at the school to help sort out mums from the band mum sale. The band sold 1700 mums!! We are tailgating tonight so that should be fun! Hoping the football team wins! We are 2 W/1 L so far.

Our band left this morning at 4am for their first competition of the season. They are going to a BOA Regional in Pennsylvania. It's supposed to rain there all day tomorrow though.

Saw pregame, watched the first quarter, the black clouds were rolling in...Saw the weather on my friend's phone and we left! 10 mins later it started pouring! They called the game. Best football game ever. LOL

It's Berkley High School Homecoming game ended just now. Though we lost, our BHS Marching Band was super duper awesome!! :) They were in full uniform. It did rain a little, but didn't stop them from doing an excellent job!!

Home from our Homecoming. And our BHS won 42-0!!!! The marching band did really well and the color guard did very well too. Much more work to be done but it's coming together. Before the game they call each senior from football, band and color guard by name and present them with a rose. It's really very sweet and a great memory.

DW and I didn't go to the away game today, but the kids said their show went well. Football team won AGAIN 49 - 6. We are 3-1 this season. :thumbsup2

Looks like prelims are inside but they are hoping finals can be outside.

Our football team got hammered last night, but our band won ;). The other band was very good, but they carry their music. I would have more respect for them if they memorized their music.

Our band didn't perform last night due to the weather. It was horrible......rain, thunder, lightning, the whole works plus the game was 3 hours away. The band directors & drill team sponsors decided not to take the kids to the game. The football team & cheerleaders still went. It was a very late night. Our oldest DD cheers & they didn't get home until almost 2.
