2013 last year for Osborne lights?

The originals on the street with the houses were far better than now. The grill done in lights, for example, was fun to see. Lots of hidden Mickey's too.

They could be moved and we would be happy. I would not like them at the entrance as it looks like crap in the daylight. There would also be a crowd control problem.

Are you one of the un-most?

Most of the US are too far to drive to see a free attraction in FL. Most of the people who go to FL to visit Disney have park tickets.

Hell no, Im 10 minutes away complete with AP

One other thing to consider is that the manpower to hang and program the lights is the same manpower that does Fantasmic. It would not make good business sense to move the show to another park or DS. Then you would be having to cross-bill ORG units for man hours or you would have to train a bunch of folks.

I finally made it to Disney during the holidays and the Osborne lights really were spectacular. I hope they will not be disappearing... It was my second favourite Christmas event after seeing Cinderella Castle all decked out.

+1 on this. It is so high on our list to see when we go during the holidays, we try to schedule multiple visits to see it. Which is difficult given their usual hours during that time. But we love it!!

Well I would be really sad if they were not returning...this year. I have never gotten to see them in person and this year we will...I have a feeling after I see them I will feel the way many of you have expressed.

Screamscape reports that the lights may be moved to Epcot in 2014.

The rumored removal of the Osbourne Family Christmas Lights from the Studios may end up being Epcot’s gain. The latest rumors around the resort claim that there may be a plan to salvage them for a new Christmas light display program for Epcot. Where exactly they may go is still a subject for discussion as some rumors talk about putting them in Future World while others talk about creating fun theme displays at the various country pavilions around World Showcase instead. I vote for the later option myself, along with finding a way to plus the long pathway between the two halves of the park which lost it’s own Christmas light display pieces a few years ago.

If this does move to EPCOT it would need to go into Future world as the lights and music around the countries would disrupt the Candlelight Processional.

I'd be okay with them moving to Epcot. Remember the lights betwen Future World and World Showcase, what were they called........Festival of Lights, or the Lights of Winter.........? Anyway, I miss those.

Here's my take on things, approaching from a slightly different angle.

Currently, each of the four parks has something going on specifically for the holidays: MK has MVMCP, Epcot has Storytellers and Candlelight Processional, AK has the Jingle Jungle Parade, and DHS has the Osborne lights.

Without the lights, what would be the "draw" for DHS? I'd be surprised to see the lights disappear without some kind of holiday-themed draw to replace them and help smooth out attendance.

Maybe I'm being too logical :rolleyes1

Hmmm... putting them in EPCOT might be interesting. I really hope they don't get rid of them though.

I believe it was Lights of Winter. I was diasappointed when I went back in 2010 and they weren't there any more.

How dare you throw logic at our "sky is falling" panic. I think that they won't go anywhere for the foreseeable future. But we are planning a Dec 2014 trip. And, yes; the fear does creep in the back of my mind.

From what I have read, the Streets of America would be a later phase of the Pixar Place expansion. Star Wars Land's later phases would use space from the parking lot. Pixar will expand into the Backlot first, then Streets of Amer, and eventually into Animation Ctyd.

This is exactly what we were told by several cast members while we were there for the past two weeks. We were told that The Backlot Tour, Lights, Motor Cars, Action, Indiana Jones, etc would go away to make way for Carsland. Sci Fi Drive In would become Flo's. They will eventually move into part of the parking lot and for now SOA would be the same.

Who really knows though until the announcements are official. If you would have told me that mickey and Minnie's homes would be gone on this visit I would have doubted it!

Does anyone know what the last date for the Osborne Lights will be? I think they ended January 6 last Christmas season but was wondering if anyone had heard what it would be this year. I've never seen them and I'm super sad to hear that they're leaving :( Would love to go down for a couple days to see them before they disappear forever... :(

If they do that it just won't be the same... I remember the thrill of seeing it snow in Florida, and dancing around with my family under the Lights... Other than the castle lights, if they do away with the Osbornes, there's no other special reason to go during the Christmas season.

Hey gang, Tristan here, I'm married to Breezy Osborne, the little girl all those lights were originally put up for. I know that just before Jennings (Breezy's Father) passed away June 2011 that he signed a 5 year contract (They renew every 5 years) with Disney for use of the family name with the lights. (This really doesn't mean much as it's not a contract to keep the lights on, but that contract should run until 2016)

So hopefully they will run them until then at least! I know it means the world to Breezy that the lights have run this long. And now we have a daughter, Riley, she saw the lights last year for a couple weeks but was only 6 months old we can't wait for her to see them this year at 17 months!

Thanks for all the positive things said about the lights!

I loved seeing the lights and I am glad I got to see them twice!! Hopefully they will just be relocated in the park, but honestly, WDW is not a museum!! Attractions need to come and go so the parks can stay fresh and people want to keep coming back and see whats new! :goodvibes
