I think the April TA also went to Madeira. DCL hasn't gone to the Canary Islands.
I prefer DCL's spring itineraries to the fall ones because they've gone to one more port in Europe and overnighted in Barcelona. I'm not interested in a TA cruise that goes to several Caribbean ports, in addition to Castaway Cay.
**Just checked an old Passporter - and DCL did go to the Canary Islands (Tenerife) in 2007.
Yes, they went to the Canary Islands in 2007 -- we were on that cruise. It was one of our favorite excursions (to Tenerife).
I just didn't want to repeat the islands and Gibraltar, but I do like the fact they went to Madeira and Tortola -- which would be new for us. Only been to St. Maartin once, so could do that again.
I liked when they left in August in 2007. It made it easier to hook the 10-day cruise to it and make it back-2-back. Coming back mid-September makes it more difficult!
Disney makes it so dang hard because of the way they play this out. HAL already has their April 2013 Med cruises posted! And their prices don't jump up for weeks! If Disney pulls a fast one like they have done before and announces the itineraries the same day they open bookings, it forces one to make split second decisions (which I am not good at).
I probably won't have to worry about any of this though as I'm sure the prices will shut that door! Just looked on HAL and can get a balcony for a 10-day Med cruise with very similar itinerary for next August for $3,099! I KNOW we won't see Disney pricing like that!
I think that glimmer of hope that many expressed about having more ships would bring the prices down is dwindling fast
