2013 dates

;):sad2:
I think the April TA also went to Madeira. DCL hasn't gone to the Canary Islands.

I prefer DCL's spring itineraries to the fall ones because they've gone to one more port in Europe and overnighted in Barcelona. I'm not interested in a TA cruise that goes to several Caribbean ports, in addition to Castaway Cay.

**Just checked an old Passporter - and DCL did go to the Canary Islands (Tenerife) in 2007.

Yes, they went to the Canary Islands in 2007 -- we were on that cruise. It was one of our favorite excursions (to Tenerife).

I just didn't want to repeat the islands and Gibraltar, but I do like the fact they went to Madeira and Tortola -- which would be new for us. Only been to St. Maartin once, so could do that again.

I liked when they left in August in 2007. It made it easier to hook the 10-day cruise to it and make it back-2-back. Coming back mid-September makes it more difficult!

Disney makes it so dang hard because of the way they play this out. HAL already has their April 2013 Med cruises posted! And their prices don't jump up for weeks! If Disney pulls a fast one like they have done before and announces the itineraries the same day they open bookings, it forces one to make split second decisions (which I am not good at).

I probably won't have to worry about any of this though as I'm sure the prices will shut that door! Just looked on HAL and can get a balcony for a 10-day Med cruise with very similar itinerary for next August for $3,099! I KNOW we won't see Disney pricing like that!

I think that glimmer of hope that many expressed about having more ships would bring the prices down is dwindling fast ;):sad2::rolleyes:

So far - HAL has only one cruise posted for April 2013: http://www.hollandamerica.com/find-...voyageCode=T315&webItineraryIdForAudit=EMS318 *By the way - the Rotterdam's cruise just before that is a 39-day repositioning cruise from Singapore to Rotterdam with a very interesting itinerary: http://www.hollandamerica.com/find-...oyageCode=T310E&webItineraryIdForAudit=OIW339

I enjoyed visiting Tenerife and Gran Canaria on a Royal Caribbean Transatlantic last November, but I would prefer a port stop in the Azores or Madeira if I do another southern TA crossing. However, my favorite TA itinerary goes by way of the British Isles (RCI) or Scandinavia (Princess), and crosses the Atlantic via Iceland, (possibly) Greenland, and Newfoundland.

One can always hope ;)

I KNOW DCL won't do that TA itinerary! That's why I'll be looking at Princess and RCI's TA itineraries in 2013, in addition to DCL's. (I have a DCL cruise that needs to be moved from Canada in Sept. 2012 to something else.)

I was just on the phone with DCL and asked about 2013. SHe said, "We just heard fall, and fall is here, so keep your eyes open. Things can just pop up at any time."

Yea, I called last week and the rep said end of September by mid-October. But they never know for sure. I just hope they do not announce the itineraries AND open bookings the same day :sad2:

To reposition from Galveston to Port Canaveral, the ship would have to visit a distant foreign port - such as Aruba.

I think it's possible the Magic may be cruising again from NY by spring 2013. If that were the case, the TA cruise would probably be to the UK, as previously mentioned, followed by a repositioning cruise to Civitavecchia.

By spring, do you mean it's possible that the Magic could be sailing out of NY in March 2013? Here's hoping .... :goodvibes

A March Break trip to the Bahamas would be an great option for our second cruise (and my sister and her family's first). Leaving from NY would make it all the more possible both in terms of travel time to the port and airfare costs to the port city.

I recall a few itineraries where the prices increased by the hour: Panama Canal in 2005 and 2008, and Hawaii in 2012. :scared1:

Oh, absolutely Hawaii was crazy. That is why I am eyeing this thread like a hawk. You really need to get booked on opening day to make the cruise affordable (at least for me).

Thank you! That answered some of my questions too!!

Oh, no problem, glad I could help!

Thanks a lot! :goodvibes:goodvibes

You are welcome! I hope you are able to book something!

See that is the problem. I would want to do the TA, REPO, and then the B2B Eastern and Western Med. There is no way that is possible, so if they took out the repo, it would give me at less to mull over.

Would that be common practice or do they generally announce itineraries and then open up for bookings later?

DCL has announced the itineraries a short time in advance, but the prices were unknown until opening day - when only the Platinum and Gold Castaway Club members could book. Even then, the prices weren't available online until booking was open to the general public.

In 2012, the Magic will sail out of NY from late May until Late September. Then it will sail from Galveston from late September until the end of December. I think it will continue to sail from Galveston in January and February, and possibly move to NY in March. All of this is pure speculation. :teeth:

Subscribing!
