2013 dates

I think DCL would be smart to alternate this 8-night itinerary with the 6-night one that goes to Grand Cayman and Cozumel so some could do B2B cruises.

Can they change the "hidden" port schedule that is showing that the Magic is still sailing from Galveston after December 2012?

So what has been the earliest that they have released dates? We want to go in October 2013 so is it likely they would release those itineraries 24 months in advance or would that come out in the spring of 2012?

Both cruises would be from Galveston, so what "hidden" port schedule do you mean?

Someone researched Costa Maya or Cozumel and noticed that they had the Magic listed through April or March of 2013-just wondering if that could be changed if they add this new itinerary...

8-NIGHT FLORIDA & BAHAMAS (Starting at $979)

Cruise Ports: Galveston, Texas; Key West, Florida; Port Canaveral, Florida; Castaway Cay, Bahamas; Galveston, Texas

Would the above include a day in WDW-similar to the NY cruise? I love, love this itinerary-only four hours away for us to board and a day in WDW:banana:

This is the itinerary I really, really want, too! I'm not currently planning on booking a 2013 cruise, but I would if DCL does this itinerary.

I like this one too. :thumbsup2 I was looking at the Carnival Magic for 2013, as my DDs will turn 10 and we wanted to surprise them with something special. But I'd much rather do this itinerary with DCL if it is offered.

So these proposed itineraries: would the caribbean ones be the Fantasy and the Med be the Magic? Wish they would take a new ship to Europe, but know they won't. :sad1:

Even though i would not do it, as i am no where near Texas, i think the texas one with a day in WDW is pretty genius and would give people from that side of the country a great vaca.

The Caribbean cruises from Galveston would be on the Magic.

I do like the one from Tx but waiting on the Med for a TA. If that does not happen would love to do a special Cali cruise

Dear DCL,

I bet a lot more people would sail out of Galveston if you were there when kids were not in school, and when school teachers were NOT teaching, Would you be willing to bet me and see?

Sincerely,

A School Teacher

That's probably why DCL is going to sail out of New York next summer - when kids are not in school and when school teachers are NOT teaching!

The way DCL has scheduled cruises over the past couple of years (transatlantic cruises in April and September, etc. etc.) makes one wonder if they are trying to "discourage" family sailings ;)

I've seen the ship full several times during school time. Parents will take the children out for an educational travel experience and teachers will take the time off if they can/want to.

Some adults prefer to sail when school is in as there tends to be more adults to socialize with. A couple of times, the ship almost seemed as if it was an "adults only" cruise.

During these times they open the kids' club to adults.

I have heard some stories of bored teens causing issues on the last Panama Canal cruise that was in August you could be on to something.

Transatlantic cruises are at the beginning and end of the Europe cruise season. It would be a very short season if DCL waited until June to move to Europe and returned in August. The fact that the Hawaii cruise is in late April/May didn't seem to hurt its bookings!

A ship can be in only one place at a time. The Magic can't be in Galveston, New York, and Europe at the same time.

Can you please tell me what time of year you have seen this? I've asked around here before and gotten the response that as a Disney ship there would always be lots of kids.

In my experience, the longer cruises (14+) there is a lower number of kids on board when the cruise is during the school year. Our last long cruise was the WB transatlantic last year and there were only 200-300 kids on board. It was a quiet cruise that seemed like a mostly adult cruise.
