I just read a post on Passporter from someone who recently stayed at BC, and said they stopped the Boats to DHS at 7:00 PM :( is this true :confused3. How do we get back from DHS if we don't want to walk? I can't believe Disneys cutbacks. They can't wait till park closing to stop the boats :confused3 ugh.

They would have to run a bus to the EPCOT resorts then, but it'd probably be quicker to walk!

Thanks for all the good wishes and prayers everybody. They are doing the artery on his neck this Monday. Its over 90% blocked. The other side will be done in about three weeks. Its around 60% blocked. Thank goodness his eye doctor suspected during his routine six month exam (he has cataracts) and sent him for an ultrasound and then fixed him up with a heart specialist ASAP. He's at a 95% chance of a stroke. They put him on high doses of aspirin until the surgery. That woman (eye doctor) saved his life.

Thank God! I love hearing about medical professionals identifying an issue in time for preventative action. Will keep you in our prayers and thoughts.

DBF and I will be checking in to YC in 58 days! We're spending 4 nights prior to this at SpringHill Suites on Int. Drive so we can go to SeaWorld and the parks that must not be named! My question is, when we check in to YC on the Tuesday, is there a time that would be best to check in?
We can get a taxi at any point, we were thinking of maybe doing some shopping before heading over. What is the quietest time of day to check in? We know with it being August our room probably won't be ready till around 3pm but are more than happy to spend some time at SAB!
I'm thinking we won't do the online check in because I have made our room requests via phone and I don't want the online check in to counteract these, plus we've never been to YC before (DBF has never been to Disney) so we might want to ask questions etc. Unless people think we would benefit from online check in?
:)

we are a family of 5 adults, and we are planning a trip to the yacht club. When booking it says there are rooms for 5 adults?. Can these rooms fit 5 adults in comfortably, or am I advised to acquire 2 rooms. Thanks Harry

They are normal sized rooms ... for families of five ... two queens and a daybed. I'd never put five adults in one room but that's just me. Be aware that after the first two adults, each adult thereafter is charged $25 per night per person in addition to the regular price of the room. So whatever the price of the room is, in your case, it would be an additional $75 added on each night. If you get two rooms, one room would have an additional $25 each night since one room would have three adults. We run into this when we stay at Disney (Bob, me and Jeanne and little Lily). They charge $25 per night additional because of the third adult (Jeanne) in the room. This is any Disney resort (except rooms like suites or villas).

And in this case "Adult" means 18 & over but not "Disney Adult" (aka for tickets, 10 & over) correct?

Teena-lots of thoughts to your Bob tomorrow. Thank God for Angels like his eye doctor.

52 days to go...but 5 only till Nationals...stressing...

I agree that 5 adults in a room would be tight.

There are Deluxe rooms as well that would give you more space, but I still think 5 adults would still be a lot in this room, and since these are club level, you have added expense there.

Price out two rooms. How would this compare to getting one of the villas at BC if available? I would try pricing this out as well to see if it is an option.

Please let us know what you end up with.

:goodvibes

Swimfly, when I returned to the room, it was much better. I had a little air freshener with me that I had taken on the ship and sat it out before we left. I think the smell is coming from the air conditioner, but our carpeting in the bathroom was a little damp/tacky when we had checked in. It dried while we were at SAB and I think all is well.
Our clothesline was broken, but I called and they fixed it. We also called and requested turn down service because my DD is sleeping on the daybed. We are near the secret exit by Epcot and love the location!

Teena, praying for you and Bob. I don't expect to see you today, but will look for you just in case. :)

Talk about magical... ran into one of my best friends from college yesterday at AK. We just both happened to be at WDW on vacay. DH took care of DD tnight after Illuminations so I could wander the boardwalk and catch up with my GF. She moved to NY 5 years ago so we had a lot to talk about. Was able to introduce her to DD. Just awesome! Definitely not ready to head home tomorrow afternoon.

We have the same smell on the second floor. Was told it was the ac. We've aired out the room when we return. Were you able to get it resolved?

High five to the eye doctor. Will keep you in my thoughts on Monday.

Awesome!

It's been so long since Ive posted in the BC thread, but DH sent me this video today and Teena is in it!!

We had the pleasure of meeting her during out October 2011 trip!

Wanted to share with other BC resort lovers!!

:wave2:

Hope all is well with you!

Great video. Thanks so much for posting this!!! I'll add it to the front page of this thread.

That was fast- I believe this was filmed just a week ago.

And, I just wanted to state that I knew 9 of the 10 things about the Yacht & Beach club (didn't know the decorations around the fireplaces at the Presidential Suites)

:goodvibes

Great video! Thanks for sharing! I've sent it to my family to entice them into another Beach Club vacation. Let's hope it works :rolleyes1

Good to see you back here too. Hope the video worked...

:thumbsup2

I feel like a huge CHEAT! Our upcoming October stay is across the way... :clown: because I waited too long to come to my senses that we missed the Epcot area. (Of course, I keep making periodic calls to see if something's opened up at BC. I just need a widely-circulated false report of F&W getting cancelled then I'll have that coveted BC reservation in my hot little hands. :lovestruc )

Fingers crossed that there is an opening for you!!!

:)

Pretty sure we are asking the impossible but where can we purchase the Lifeguard Mickey Mouse lamp found in the rooms at the BC?

BUMP!!!

I don't know, but I'll check the list I have at the front of the thread.

BTW- Does anyone know if the Fish Lamp is back at the BC???

:rolleyes1

OK fellow BC/YCers, how many of you have gone to one of the waterparks??? And did you feel like it would have been just as nice to spend the day at SAB instead of hauling everyone (and everything) away for the day?

We have NEVER done one, and are thinking about TL mid-week during our stay.

ANY advice, tips, pros cons to doing this would be so much appreciated.

I have been to both- random comments

We prefer the theming of TL to BB, the wave pool is better (rougher), shark reef is cool and the soundtrack is AWESOME (I have the playlist if anyone is interested)

As others have said, the family ride at BB is much better, though. We will usually pair a half-day at AK with a couple of hours at BB since the buses leaving AK usually stop there anyway.

But you asked for TL tips.

Locker- don't bring anything you can't leave behind at your chair. If you will have a good camera with you, then get a locker.

Do get a waterproof case. We have a thin one we use all the time, at the beach, other vacations and even Disney to keep our tickets/cash/credit cards in. I'll post a picture in a bit.

Ziploc Big Bag- for transporting wet clothes when you are done

:fish:

Last post for today - dd's 8th grade graduation party today!

One week from today we'll be checking into our "happy place"!

Hope the party went great yesterday! Less than one week- Wowza!

:woohoo:
