I know I'm late to the party, but:

Target-
If you aren't forever away and happen to get prescriptions you get a coupon for 5% off a day of shopping for every 5 prescriptions you fill. This includes if you have OTC items and you buy them through the pharmacy. Our FSA reimburses sunscreen and aloe if my doctor prescribes them... so I just bought a bunch of sunscreen, got it reimbursed and got target credits toward a 5% off day.
That pharmacy coupon stacks with the 5% for your redcard. If you use both you end up with just under 10% off. (it's 5% off, then 5% again, not 5+5%) That really stacks up when you are paying for a deluxe hotel.

I buy non-disney cards like this too. So our hulu+, subway, wendy's, chipotle, minutes for DD's phone... it's all 10% off.

Sitting on my lagoon view balcony at yc. Little pixie dust since we booked garden view. I love this hotel. Having great time and enjoyed full day at Sab and food dinner at flying fish. Feel like I am home. We dine with an imagineer tomorrow! Will stop to say hi on Sunday teena!!

Don't you just LOVE that view!! I know I do. :)

We’re back from our trip and had a good week - once we got there (the trip down was a horror story). Even though we stayed at OKW this trip (rented points) we did make it over to the YC one day. Once we got there, DW said she really missed it this trip, but never fear – we’re back at the YC for a few days in August after we drop off DS at college in Melbourne. Here are some highlights of the week:

DS19 did the Exotic Driving Experience and loved it! He got to drive 10 laps in a Ferrari and hit a top speed of 116 MPH!

We did the Keys To The Kingdom tour in the MK and it was great! Very interesting and informative and we spent over 30 minutes in the famous utilidors!

We had dinner one night at Shula’s Steakhouse in the Dolphin. Pretty pricey (glad I got the 20% Tables in Wonderland discount), but it was probably one of the best steak dinners I have ever had. DS and I had steak while DW had seared scallops, and all three dinners were excellent.

I would highly recommend all three of those.

I am seriously upset with Buzzy, because he did not meet me Wednesday morning to take me up on my all-expenses paid stay at Universal offer. He and some of his family did show up and “bug” us as we started on the KTTK tour at MK. Unfortunately, I did not have any bug spray with me, so I had to swat at him. That must have deterred him because he left us alone the rest of the day.

All in all it was a very good week, but I can’t wait to go to the YC in August to try a Sunken Treasure.

Oh I was there all right! I saw you with your rolled up newspaper and that six pack of red bull that you were drinking to increase your reaction time. I wasn't gonna get near you! :p Old Buzzy here knows when he is not wanted! It takes a special human to appreciate the finer qualities that one finds in a fine fly fellow like myself. Some consider Ninja Mom to be a bit of a pest herself. ( ESPECIALLY her children!!!!) I think that is why we are kindred spirits! I'd much rather bother her knowing that she can appreciate a great pest.

So sorry you got sick. You had me scared about the Captain's Grill ... I told you I was eating there the next night. Our dinner was great and service was great too. I am glad to know you just had a bad night there. I was ready to do battle if I had experienced what you had.

I totally understand how you feel about seeing the castle. That's what WDW is to you. Just like a lot of the Y&B guests: if they couldn't walk to Epcot and have SAB, they wouldn't feel they were at WDW. Everybody has something that makes a resort special to them. And although it's nice to sometimes try something different, when you love something so much, I think you should stick with what you love.

Hope you stay 100% healthy and I'm glad at least you had a good Star Wars experience up in the lounge!!

It was great meeting you!

I almost got a job at the Captain's Grille. When I was a little fly I used to go to the movies and watch the Marx Brothers. I begged my Ma and Pa to let me take swimming lessons because when I grew up I could be the Fly in the soup. What was a fly doing in the soup you ask? Why the back stroke of course!

Signed, your favorite pest, Buzzy the fly :fish:

Sneaking on while DH gets DD to bed. Hanging out on our balcony at BC sipping wine and gazing at the lighthouse with Dolphin beyond. This has been an amazing vacay. It started raining this afternoon while spending time at SAB and continued on. Our LO (17 mths) has discovered the joys of puddle jumping. Can't tell you how many people stopped to giggle as she squealed with delight. Wish I could bottle up the sounds of vacay. Heading out to run the boardwalk in the morning.

Found a bartender who made me a sunkin treasure (is that right?). Delicious!

Thank you! Thank you! For telling us about the bakery in France. Had soup and quiche from there for dinner tonight. Delicious! Sneaking over there tomorrow for a croissant and coffee after my run. It's why I run!

Sounds wonderful!

Not sure if I've seen this question here.
We are staying YC CL 12/8-12/15, room only no package (we are annual passholders). Can we use the ME for our luggage only, if we rent a car at the airport? (I don't want to deal with the luggage) Then pick up our luggage later on in the day after we have lunch somewhere. Or do we have to be with the luggage when it arrives at the YC?

Just checking- did you lose the 1 night at POP?

Hello everyone! :wave2: Just checking in, SO wishing I was as close to our departure date as it seems some of you are! Just wee bit jealous. :hourglass

I do have a question: after reading that our chances of getting a full balcony at club level are fairly decent, I'm wondering what room requests we should make. We've got a lagoon/water view, so that's taken care of. We'd prefer to be closer to the action, but not so close that we can't get some quiet time (and restful sleep). At POR, we always requested the Mansions, Magnolia House or Oak Terrace, and both were great because they were close enough to only be a 4-5 minute walk to everything but far enough a way so that it was still quiet when we needed it to be. When we stayed at the Poly, we stayed in a TPV room in Tahiti - fantastic because it was about 5 minutes to the Great Ceremonial House, 5 minutes to the TTC, and removed enough from everything to be really quiet at night.

I swear, we're not too difficult to please.

So, given this, what requests would you make in a lagoon/water view CL room at BC? :confused3

Although there is a pretty good chance you will get a full balcony, I would still make it one of your requests.

Other possibilities are:

lagoon view (vs. pool view- if you are close you may hear some of the pool activities and you indicated you would like quiet)
close to lobby- location will be good for lobby/pool/Marketplace access

So your request could be, "Full balcony, please. Secondary Request if possible"

Will be checking into the YC (first time staying there) in two months from today!! August 19-26! :cool1:

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list on Page 1.

Just done online check in from the UK, is it normal for this to refuse a mobile number with the international calling number in front? Should we be worried that it had our address all mixed up too? We have corrected the address and provided an email contact since it refused my phone number. AlsoI was able to book ME this morning online too filling in all the details required informing them that we are international travellers and relevant flight numbers so OLCI team are able to access this info too in theory, or will they?

Anyway we are looking forward to our vacation and hoping for a little pixie dust if the lovely pixie dust fairy is feeling generous. Our flights will mean travelling all day and by the time we arrive it will be the equivalent of about 3-4 am UK time so we will be shattered. DS is really looking forward to this vacation too he has a residential trip next month and a day trip a few days later then 2 more weeks of school to get through until the summer holidays and back to school the day after we land back home. We always dread the return flight it's such a mood kill. I have an exam to sit next week, I will need to focus on that and pray for a great result so fingers crossed.

We have a little guest with us who took us by surprise last month, a stray female cat she was in an awful state when she "adopted" us so we have been trying to do what's right for her as no one came forward to claim her despite trying all the usual methods so she is still with us. Our cat is tolerating her so far and I booked them both into the cattery we use when our Bill goes to his "holiday home" when we take a vacation. They really look alike too which causes confusion at night with both of them being black, luckily Bill is bigger than this new girl and she has a burgundy old collar on. Once she has had her second vaccinations and possibly been spayed (2 weeks time) then we can sort out a new safer collar for her. She is friendly but has the appetite of a gannet! We never see food left in any bowls now. She soon caught on to the sound of bowls being filled and treats for good behaviour, loves to be brushed and stroked but not bathed (just don't ask) and loves to play, not keen on being handled or the cat box poor mite! Luckily she will use the litter box inside so far and she is sleeping a lot too. Our vet thinks she is under two but we can't find a spaying scar on her anywhere so far.

We still need to buy holiday items (DS is having a growth spurt) and I need find somewhere to store them until we need to pack the cases, so that mainly will get done in the next month. Loving the "Sunken Treasure" themed drink idea and HH is looking good now we will have to try their food offerings. All our ADRs are done as well as the Pirates and Pals Cruise booked one night. IPO got them all done just as we wanted so big thanks to the whole team.

Enjoying this thread immensely and you do a top notch job of keeping it fresh, informative and friendly. Happy planning to you all.

Thanks for your fun and informative update!

I don't know the answers to your questions about International on-line checkin.

I know when you originally posted here, the trip was a secret. Is the cat out of the bag, now. How did that go?

Speaking of cats- congrats on your new addition, and thanks for being a friend to a furry friend in need.

All caught up, I think!

I was reading on another thread that last year there were characters at each hotel during the MNSSHP, where previous years they were only at 2 hotels. So do you think there will be some characters at BC/YC? when & Where? Anyone experience this last year? I never heard of this.

Thanks,
Angeejoe :)

I have never heard of characters dressed in costumes at Y&B during Halloween, but I agree- that would be cool!!!

Hello Beach Club friends,

Much has happened in the last day and a half. We are checking in next week and while the BC has been a surprise for my family, my hubby has been talking ALOT about staying on the monorail. Well today I changed to the Grand. I love the Grand Floridian, but I must admit the construction is making me a bit nervous. You tube videos make it look contained, but obviously visible. Reports on the boards is the noise is barely audible. I guess we'll see soon enough. Safe travels to all that are leaving soon. Robyn, I will still say hi at the Wishes Dessert Party. I hope you have a wonderful trip!
Dee, please take me off the list:)

Will do. Have a "Grand" trip!!!

Got back on Friday from the worst WDW trip we have experienced. Got food poisoning early in the trip, and spent lots of time alone in the room. Like many of you, I love going to WDW, and it is a hobby to help other books trips, save money, etc. However, it will take me a while to book another trip.

The first day we were there, we took a side trip to LEGOLAND. Got rained out right after lunch (there is nothing to do there when it rains), and came back to the BC. DS6 and DS8 were very anxious to eat. We had reservations at the Captain's Grille. We were seated within 5 minutes. However, it look too long to order, and even longer to get our food. After being there waiting an hour, I found the manager to complain. They then got busy and got us food. However, the pork they served me was very burnt. I couldn't believe it! I am not that picky, but really can't stand burnt food. The whole night was all so un-Disney like.

One really cool thing happened to us when we got back to the club level floor. We happened to be talking to the wife of Tom Kane (the voice of Yoda), and she asked us if we wanted Yoda's signature. We got to meet him and some of his family. Very cool!!!

On the second day, we went to the last Star Wars Weekends day. My boys enjoyed seeing the characters. We had lunch at the Brown Derby. Had the duck, which I did not enjoy. I really believe this is what made me so sick. I will never eat there again. We got to meet Teena on the way back into BC. I think my husband wondered how I knew who she was. Got very, very sick after we got back to the room. It took a full week to get better.

The BC was very nice. Our club level standard view was overlooking the pool, which was good. I didn't get to try the lobster rolls at the Boardwalk Bakery, or try anything at Hurricane Hanna's. I didn't feel like I was able to experience everything that the BC had to offer. However, I did learn something about myself. I don't feel like I am at Disney until I can see the castle, and see fireworks over the castle. When I am ready to return to WDW, I will want to return to the POLY. When was laying in bed sick, I wish I could have looked out the window to see the castle.

So sorry to hear about the issues on your trip! :(

Food poisoning is horrible, but when you are on a long-awaited vacation, it is just heartbreaking.

I have some questions...

I know it was previously reported that the tubes were available without a rental fee, so that didn't shock me, but the other quote about the gift shop no longer being there was the first time I have heard this. I know Poolside Gifts was being used as a bar during the HH renovations, but I thought it had gone back to a gift shop after HH reopened.

Anyone have any further details or pictures?

.

1. I did not see poolside gifts. It look the pool activity staff was using where I think it was (under the pergola area near where the have the pool activities).

Thanks so much for responding to this- I now have more questions than answers...

So if Poolside Gifts is gone- is there anyplace poolside to purchase noodles, or sand toys (other than HH meals) or sunscreen or sunglasses? Are these items (still) available at the Marketplace?

I know the tubes have been freely available without a rental cost recently. Wonder how this will go in the middle of summer. Not sure where to rent them now, though.

Are the poolside lockers still around? Where do you get a key?

How about life vests?

Looks like someone is going to have some homework to do on the SAB post when I get more info.
