A standard view room is a room that has a view of a roof or parking lot. Therefore, they are pretty much scattered throughout the whole building. The nearest standard view room to an entrance to SAB would be a room close to the lobby. So if that is what you are hoping for, add "close to lobby" as a request on your reservation. If a decent view (something other than parking lot or roof) is important to you, you might want to consider changing your reservation to a garden view. It normally around $10 per night higher than a standard view.

Hi Teena and BC/YC friends,

We r also staying BC SV CL in Oct. Are all CL rooms on the 5th floor? We have a party of 5 so I understand a balcony might not work for us with the daybed which is fine. I think we would rather be closer to the CL lounge. Should we ask for close to elevators/lobby?

A CM told me that because we had 5 people we couldn't stay GV CL. Think that was correct info???

Thanks all!

Today was a banner day! We took the boys over to Bay Lake and rented a pontoon boat and water mice. If you have an annual pass they are giving a 30% discount on boat rentals. I tried to 'up' the discount on the boats by talking them into adding the discount from my Tables in Wonderland card.... but they weren't buying my claim that "water tables" were also included in that discount.

The boys really liked the boats and no wild life was harmed from their not so smooth driving of the boats...... but a couple of ducks did give us some dirty looks! Ninja Mom was driving the boat when the Marine Patrol very nicely raced over and informed her she was in the fishing area of the enormous Bay Lake and my kind of boat was not permitted in that area. I'm sure my picture is on the 'naughty' bulletin board at Marine Patrol head quarters with all the people who were caught "Making a large wake in the no wake zone" and "giving the Herons a headache" from all the yelling I did directing the boys in the water mice so they didn't take out any of the ferries.

We then went over to Hollywood Studios to take in the last gasps of Star Wars Weekends. We just love this event and seeing the people dressed up in Star Wars costumes as they tour the parks just adds another level of fun.

Now for traffic and weather! You got the (Boat) traffic report but I will tell you we cabbed it back and forth to the Contemporary. It was hot and sunny with pop up showers everywhere but where we were. My husband looks like a crispy critter from where his shorts ended (the long kind, sorry Mickey T!) until where his crew socks started. The man doesn't get out much and his outdoor activities begin and end with him running ~from~ the car into the house and then back out to the car to go to work.

Tomorrow we have a hot date with Epcot and lunch at Le Cellier. Then we are going over to the Captain's Grille where we are going to kidnap a random cast member and drag her off to dinner. Don't worry, we'll pick one that looks lonely and hungry!

Also Buzzy the fly found me at the outdoor lunch snack bar at the Contemporary and INSISTED on joining me. He also brought some friends, family members and a flock of french fly stealing birds. I looked like I was having a seizure, continuously swatting at the birds and tiny little invisible flies. The good news was that no one else wanted to get near the crazy lady so all the tables near us were free and clear of people. I've decided that I'm going to fake it and start swatting imaginary things while I'm waiting in the standby line for rides to see if I can get to the front faster.

~NM

LOL - better get off the 'naughty" list by December. So sorry Buzzy and all of his friends found you, but I love the crazy lady idea. I might have to try it on our trip! :rotfl2:

Thanks for the advice Missyrose, I will try to do F&W during the week. My only thing with lunches is that I'd like to do the other parks during day & then have relaxing night next door at Epcot with walk back! Anyone know if F&W slows down when it's MNSSHP? Maybe less people at Epcot??? (fingers crossed!)

We actually experienced the opposite, F&W was busier on MNSSHP nights. :upsidedow
It's not fully updated yet, but I found the best menus were on DisneyFoodBlog.

We like two TS a day as well. Most important is that we prefer to share a few apps and avoid the big entrees. TIW will let us eat that way and get adult beverages too!

This is also why we love the freedom that TIW allows :thumbsup2

All regular CL rooms are on the 5th the exception being the Deluxe rooms that are on other floors but have access to the CL on the 5th floor.

Yes if you want to be near the lounge you should request close to elevators / lobby.

And that is my understanding from reading this thread that you can not reserve a garden view CL room with a party of 5. Only standard or water view.

Thank you! I did want the CL garden view, but it wasn't available..`I guess I will check back to see between now and our trip. Thanks for the info! :)

Actually, it's only standard view with 5 people. At least it's that way on club level. Not sure about the rest of the resort, but it would make sense that it would all be that way.

Here's the info I have in the Other Useful Info post on Page 1:

60 Day Online Checkin/My Disney Experience

Confirm arrival and departure times

Pick PIN numbers to use for park and resort purchases

There is also an option of clicking a box which said they would possibly allow early entry to a room prior to 3 but it might override room requests.

Request for a day bed does not appear to be an option you can request through on-line checkin.

Beach Club 60 Day Check In:

Room Request Options- Choose 2 of the three listed:

Large balcony
Lower floor
Near transportation

Yacht Club 60 Day Check In:

Lower Floor
Near Transportation

Beach Club Villa 60 Day Check In:

Room Request Options-Choose 2 out of the four listed:

Near Elevator
Lower Floor
Woods View
Larger Balcony

Info from Andre on the POR subforum (March 2013)

The main benefits of 60 day checkin are:

You can register your credit card and create a PIN number for all your key-to-the-world cards in advance;
(however, you may want to wait until you check in at the resort to pick your PIN if you are apt to forget it)

Nothing to take up time at the front desk (your welcome pack, key-cards and room number will be put together a few hours before your stated arrival time, so it's all there waiting for you even if you are checking in quite late);

When MagicBands are introduced, they will have been pre-made for you in your chosen colours and with your names on (otherwise you'll get generic grey ones set up at the front desk);

You might even get 'Mobile Lobby' checkin service, where they can check you in using an iPad, rather than even needing to queue for the desk at all.

The room assignment team suggests it too by the way, they say it generally speeds the whole process up for you.

I am trying to compile info as I find it about FP+ and Magic Bands. Here is what I have so far (some of this will look familiar to Missy!)- posted to the Other Useful Info on Page 1.

What do you know about Magic Bands? How is FP+ going to work? When is this all happening???

ARGH!!! Your guess is as good as mine. Much like an ostrich with its head buried in the sand, I haven't really been paying much attention to what is going on.

But as I find info or links, I'll post them here. Let me know if you find anything interesting or definitive on the subject.

Hmmm, YC doesn't have many options. Near transportation I guess would mean near Lobby? I'm requesting upper floor near lobby! It's an SV room, so I hope for a parking lot? View rather then roof. Almost 60 day check in time :yay:

Can't believe we only have 3 more days until we arrive at the YC.:cool1:
Still trying to get everything done before we leave. A week's notice is just not enough time, but for Disney I will get it all done even if it kills me!;)
Keeping my fingers crossed for a decent view even though we have a SV.

We are back from our week in Disney World and wanted to say thank you to everyone and all of their helpful advice. We would have been completely lost if not for boards like this. Despite all the rain, we had a good time. I think the most useful tip for us was the secret entrance/exit to the BC near Epcot. Our room was on the very end YC and we were able to walk inside or on covered walkways to that point when it was raining out. I tried (not hard) to find the fitness club locker rooms but couldn't and didn't have time to look up the thread to find them. We didn't spend too much time at SAB anyway between the rain, the time at the parks and how tired everyone was by the time we got back.

We booked a GV this trip and should we return, DH is requesting a water view. We contemplated trying to upgrade this trip but decided against it as it was a short trip and didn't want to spend time repacking and moving. We were not out on the patio much....mostly to spray on our sunscreen.

We booked our girls (6 and 8) on the Albatross Cruise. It was awesome to sleep in a bit and then walk out the door to the marina. The girls had a blast and DH and I enjoyed the kid free two hours. I highly recommend this cruise if you have children. We headed into France for a pastry. I thought maybe I could get some school bread in Norway but they were not open yet. Long walk around the showcase for nothing. :( But on the bright side, I didn't have to carry or drag a child around with me. :)

We had booked an illuminations cruise on Saturday night but another storm had moved in that afternoon and we ended up not doing it as it was raining when we were supposed to be checking in and we didn't want to be miserable on a boat in the rain. The guy at the marina was very nice and let us out of the commitment.

The one thing I was truly disappointed in was the fact that all of the baked goods (rolls/buns/pastries/cookies etc) at Disney could possibly be cross contaminated with peanuts/tree nuts. The ice cream served at the restaurants was the same way. My DD has a peanut allergy and I heard how wonderful Disney was about allergies and they were very attentive and making sure the meal was allergen free. But it made the dessert and snack portion of the dining plan very restrictive. The baked good thing kind of messed up our dining plan strategies as I was planning on using snack credits for breakfast muffins etc. We ended up with 12 snack credits the night before we left so we burned them on lollypops to bring home as gifts. We didn't spend much time in the marketplace since it was so far from our room so I didn't realize until the last day we could have gotten cereal with a snack credit.

We probably will go back, however, we will wait until the girls are older, more independent and with more stamina.

Thanks Again for all your help.

Omg, :lmao: I can just see it all :rotfl2::rotfl2: yay for another update! Love the seaRaycers! I like going near WL, and look at the islands where River Country and the Animal one is. Also I crowded water for all the donuts I'm sure you love to do :goodvibes.

How many pretzel rolls will jump into your purse? Purely by accident of course :rolleyes1

Enjoy your dinner! Is Buzzy invited?

Of course I'm invited! I follow NM everywhere she goes! Today I, Buzzy the Fly slept in so I didn't catch up with Ninja Mom until I saw her dragging a hefty bag full of Pretzel bread out if Le Cellier . She left the park to go for a swim but I had some dumpsters I wanted to try so we split up. Ill catch up with her at the pool and I'll see if I can make her spaz out enough to scare all the people at the pool!

Your friend Buzzy the fly!

Middle of night post- all is quiet at the BC. I woke up from a sound sleep with a coughing jag and now can't go back to sleep so I thought I'd do a brief update.

*SNIP*

Now I am finally getting sleepy again. We will be up early and to AK for rope drop. The beds are sooooo comfy!!

Thanks for the great report about the start of your trip.

Hope you were able to get back to sleep! :thumbsup2

Sorry I've been so MIA on here lately, wedding planning has taken the place of Disney planning in my life. :scared1: But I did have a question for you YC experts. I noticed the latest ADR you can get at Yachtsman Steakhouse is 9:15 (which seems really early since the monorail resort restaurants take reservations as late as 9:50), does anyone have any experience getting there around 9:30? Did they hassle you about being late or turn you away? My plan is to watch Illuminations from near the International Gateway and then book it to dinner. Thanks for any help you guys can give. I think Shula's might be our backup because it's open later.

Bumping!

Don't know the answer. I wonder if you are around earlier that night if you could let the staff know you will be a little bit late and ask if that is a problem. Maybe with advanced warning it would be ok.

Do you have to make reservations for Shula's? Or would you be able to walk-in if you get turned away at Yachtsman?

:)

Thanks for the AP help. Anyone know how late the ticket window is open at the IG? DH wants to go to Via Napoli when he arrives so we got a8:45 ADR. Prob won't get to the ticket window until 8:30. Will they be open?

Again, don't know the answer but willing to take a guess. I would think that the ticket window should be open whenever the park is. So I would think until 9. But, only a guess!

:goodvibes

:wave2: Hello all you BC/YC gurus...I've changed Resorts again. And I am now going to stay at the Beach Club Standard Room CL....I've looked on the map..and I can't figure out just where those rooms are in relation to SAB. Could someone give me a clue where they would be? Thank you!:)

:welcome:

When is your trip? Would you like me to add you to the Be Our Guest list on Page 1?

:cool1:

Teena gave a great answer to your question- request "Close to Lobby, please" to request a room nearest to SAB.

:thumbsup2

Hi Teena and BC/YC friends,

We r also staying BC SV CL in Oct. Are all CL rooms on the 5th floor? We have a party of 5 so I understand a balcony might not work for us with the daybed which is fine. I think we would rather be closer to the CL lounge. Should we ask for close to elevators/lobby?

A CM told me that because we had 5 people we couldn't stay GV CL. Think that was correct info???

Thanks all!

Others have responded to your question, but here I go anyway-

Yes, all CL rooms (except Deluxe and Suites) are on 5th floor.

You don't need to give up on the dream of a balcony and daybed. There are several rooms in that category (BC CL SV) that have both.

Yes, you can ask for "Close to elevator/lobby" or "Close to club level lounge" to be near the lounge. All requests are essentially for the same area.

You are correct- parties of 5 can't book BC CL GV- there is one of these rooms with a daybed, I believe, but I don't think they can risk booking parties of 5 because if you have more than 1 booked at the same time, there would not be sufficient sleeping space for everyone without a rollaway.

:goodvibes

Thanks for the review of your trip. I'm sorry that the weather dampened some of your plans, but it sounds like you made the best of your time. I'm glad that you were not stuck with a cancellation fee for the Illuminations cruise!

I am disappointed to hear about the allergy concerns you had at the Marketplace and especially with desserts with your meals. I think someone recently reported that Beaches & Cream was excellent dealing with food allergies- cartons of ice cream were specially opened for guests with allergies and maybe even some of the toppings too.

My heart goes out to families like yours who have to be so vigilant everywhere to ensure the safety of loved ones.

Thanks Nannette! I will hope for the early retirement for your DH! Where did you find the menu for the fall? Where are your reservations for thus far?

Thanks Angeejoe... I really want him to retire and enjoy life just a little!

I'll supplement meals with CL (I LOVE AKL CL) and I'm pretty sure I will walk in to Bongo's for an early lunch one day!! I am a BIG fan of Bongo's (my favorite place to eat at Disney)
So far I have reservations (all dinner)
10/30 f&w for the night
10/31 Le Cellier
11/1 Garden Grill (first time!!)
11/2 Nothing so could be f&w (if crowded I will figure it out)
11/3 Be Our Guest
11/4 headed home

I read about f&w menus on Disney Food Blog. They have a facebook page and I follow them there.

'

You can't reserve waterview CL with a party of 5 either - only sv or deluxe rooms. You used to be able to do gv cl. Wish we could have done the deluxe room again but we're staying for 16 nights so that was out of our price range!

Just wanted to let you all know we are at the Disneyland Hotel and LOVE it. We are staying club level and it is beautiful. The cast members couldn't be more helpful and so sweet. The offerings here are a bit more plentiful and varied than where we have stayed at WDW. Our view is awesome, looking over the parks. We are able to watch the fireworks from our room and the music is piped in over the television. :woohoo::woohoo:

Carsland is awesome. It looks just like the movie. The attention to detail is amazing. Well, sorry to go off topic, just wanted to share.
