Just wondering if you would recommend online check-in for us? We are staying at Yacht Club August 20-28, 8 guests, 2 adults and 6 children (Sweet 16 trip for our daughter and a few friends). We have one reservation number for 2 rooms standard view, our most important request of course is connecting rooms. The second request is for at least one day bed. Do you think we are safe doing online check-in, or should we wait until we get there to check-in?
Thank you for any insight you can share,
Donna

My personal opinion: I want to ask questions and in your case I want to definitely ask if we have connecting rooms and if one of the rooms has a daybed. I would not want to walk up and be handed keys and then go to the rooms to check them out. If I get the right answer, then great. If I get one or two no answers, then I want to ask them if I could please have connecting rooms even if it means I might have to wait a few hours to get the rooms, etc. So, if I were you, personally, I would not do an on-line check-in.

Hello, we're planning our first YC stay in August and I'm kind of obsessing about room storage. (Some people have that knack of sizing up a room and instantly knowing just where to put everything, but I am sadly not one of them!) I was looking into getting some of the ebag packing cubes for our luggage because everyone says they're so great to just set inside the drawers in your room, but I'm not sure what sizes would be best. (We'll be flying Southwest, so we'll have plenty of luggage room.) Taking that thought a step further... :rolleyes2...I'm wondering if anyone has ever measured all the drawers/cubbies in the room? I thought it might be nice to have our toiletries in bins under the sink, maybe a shoe box type "junk drawer" bin for the cubby in the low dresser and how do people use that liquor cabinet thing beside the fridge? (besides the obvious ;)) Any thoughts or ideas? TIA

I used the packing cubes for our trip in September and they fit well in the dresser drawers. I also bought smaller cubes from the dollar store that fit well under the bathroom sink :thumbsup2

Guess who just booked a trip to BC???? :thumbsup2
Yup! Tom and I will be staying at BC for Marathon Weekend. Dates are January 9-13. We're both running the 10k and I'm also running the full marathon. Kids are staying home and going to school. (Sad for them. Great for Tom and me!)
We're staying at BWV for our August trip because there was no availability at BCV with the discount. At least we're still in the Epcot area.

does the light attract bugs in your experience? I am hoping for that full balcony so I can sit outside and enjoy the view and not wake up my whole family.

Momtomouselover we like to bring our own laundry detergent and fabric softener because its $2 each for each load! That can really add up. We have done the Purex sheets, but are trying the pods this year. If we don't use them all, we will hand them over to someone else that can use them.

skatingmom we will see you there!!!!! Minus 18 days for us....:cheer2:

Ninja Mom - even though I love the bigger mug...I'd love to know where you got the necklace. DD16 LOVES Jack!

Also, thanks for all of the tips! I now have the rolls of quarters and post it notes on my list! I am a very early riser and suffer from insomnia so I do laundry at some odd hours. Last year you would have thought I was trying to sell a limb for some quarters at the Poly. Get to laundry area, unload laundry, go to change machine - broken, go to front desk, go to Captain Cooks, go back to laundry, etc. As for the post it notes - this is basically for the nasty threatening notes to the teenagers "LOVE IT!"

Today I finished my all of my errands (to date) for items I needed to pick up. I have to respond to a regulatory agency tomorrow at work and then try to find out if I get another MRI in before we leave. This will be my third one in under one year. Now the docs think I have one or two pinched nerves in my neck and the pain is shooting through my shoulder and down my arm. If that is what it is the pain management resolution will be an epidural shot in my neck...:crazy2:. I had a pretty good weekend with minimal pain, so I'm hoping the pain is really subsiding. Maybe a good whiplash on SM or RNRRC will put me back into shape, however, the doc is not sure at this point if I will be able to go on these rough rides.

I really need to stop working - it is really not healthy for me!!!! :scratchin

I am so happy to hear this! I'm sure I could have read about this sooner over on your trip report, but I can't believe how far I am behind these past couple of months!

I will add you on to the Be Our Guest list the next time I update.

Teena is headed out to Vero Beach for a few days this week- hope she sees your message before she leaves!

:welcome: Donna!!!

I'll add your group to the Be Our Guest list.

With your requests, I would definitely recommend waiting until you get to the resort to check in. Although preregistering your information (credit cards, etc.) would save you a little time, usually when you do the online checkin the keys to your rooms are already cut when you arrive.

I think it makes more sense to wait until you get to the resort, and discuss the room choices with the CM who is checking you in. There may be options you need to decide about (for example, two connecting rooms, no daybed but rollaway available vs. two rooms close to one another, with daybeds)

From what I have read, checking in advance online does not increase your chances of getting what you requested.

Make sure your requests are listed on your reservation, though (through Disney's CRO). You should add any requests as soon as you make your reservation and I recommend calling about 10 days to 1 week out to make sure the requests are listed correctly.

Hope that helps!

My personal opinion: I want to ask questions and in your case I want to definitely ask if we have connecting rooms and if one of the rooms has a daybed. Thank you both, I will check-in when we get there.

I have never been bothered by bugs while out on the balcony, either in the wee morning hours or at night.

Now, with that character Fly Ondewalz and his family hanging about, I'm not sure if there will be a problem, but I don't think so.

I share in your affliction of insomnia, but it has never been severe enough to manifest in me doing something productive like laundry on vacation.

As long as Fly Ondewalz doesn't bite I don't think his family will be to bothersome. We go to my family's vacation house on the lake and in the summertime the flies.....oh god the flies....they bite so bad. It is very hard to relax and that is what the purpose of these trips in the summertime.

I think they should do the 24 hour WDW much more often for us insomniacs!! If I could ride something like Spaceship Earth over and over it would rock me to sleep. It's just that soothing....maybe its just the voice.

I'm thinking about switching to GF or FWL for our 4th of July trip. I figured we could watch MK fireworks from the beach. I know DD (18 mths) can't make it through the entire day in MK on the 4th. In the past, we couldn't get in if we arrived in the afternoon. My DH camped at Ft. Wilderness as a child and has a lot of great memories. I know this is something he wants to share with our daughter. GF just happens to be the only remaining monorail resort with a room available. DH never gets involved with the Disney planning and lets me do my own thing. But this makes it all the more challenging b/c I'd really like his opinion. We'll still be at BC in June for 5 nights and YC in January for 6 nights. Am I going to regret this decision? What's the boardwalk like for the 4th? I only know the experience for the monorail resorts for the 4th and I'm afraid I'm going to be sad I don't get to see MK fireworks. Thoughts on Epcot and/or HS for the 4th. Sorry for all the ramblings. Up late working on my paper and can't get to bed yet.

We stayed at GF for the fourth and it was great. We ordered room service and then watched the fireworks from the marina. The next day we went to MK and it was empty until noon.My dd was 6 and it was nice to watch the fireworks and not have to brave the crowds.

What a great bday day! I had wonderful day at magic kingdom, lunch at be our guest, dinner at epcot: Garden Grill
It was perfect! (Even with rain)
And I finally met Teena :-)
Tomorrow will be MK again since our DS loved it, will do the opening. Ans SAB in tbe afternoon. Will anybody be around SAB?

LOL I can see why you would think that that is a "Jack" necklace but it's strictly a Star Wars Symbol.

The Alliance Starbird, also known as the Phoenix, was the insignia of the Alliance to Restore the Republic. It adorned the flight helmets of a number of Rebel pilots during the Galactic Civil War.

Since you are doing laundry I recommend packing those Purel washer sheets and then also taking down dryer sheets. Both items are dry sheets that pack flat for easy transport. The Purel sheets contain both detergent and fabric softener but we like our Bounce so we always take the dryer sheets for the extra softness boost. The Purel sheets work in any washing machine so no worries there.

PS. That's not me in the picture, I borrowed it off the web. :wave2:

Anyone been in the YC laundry room lately? I had a heck of a time trying to do laundry at the BC last time because 3 of the machines were broken. I'm hoping not to run into that problem at the YC. I can't believe we arrive this Saturday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :woohoo:
