Just 40 days until our first stay at BC CL 1 bedroom suite. Can't wait! Friends are staying at YC CL. Can they come to BC CL to hang out with us?

Officially, I think no. But I don't see a problem with you asking the CMs at club level if your friends can join you on occasion.

You can probably even email IPO now and ask them for an opinion, but I think your best bet is to get permission once you are there.

:goodvibes

I miss the Yacht Club and I miss this thread! We had such a perfect stay (well, except for the weather) and now I'm hooked! We did finally get one great day of sunshine and we fully enjoyed Stormalong Bay, rented a Sea Raycer, and ate at Beaches and Cream.

DD has a severe peanut allergy, and she saw other kids eating ice cream with Oreos for the Mickey ears. I knew they would open a new container of ice cream to avoid cross-contamination, but was also pleasantly surprised that they also had separate packages of Oreos in the back that were not near the peanuts. It might seem like a small thing, but it was just so nice that she could enjoy something that most people take for granted.

The service throughout the resort was phenomenal! Everyone was so helpful. I think that's what is drawing me back.

Thanks for the report about your trip! Especially the allergy info- it is good to hear that you experienced sensitivity to safety during your stay.

I can understand missing the YC, but you have no excuse not to keep hanging around with us here!

:goodvibes

May I be added? We have three trips in the works.
June 19-23 BC (DH, Me, DD 17 mths)
July 4th YC LV/PV (Dh, Me, DD's 1/2 birthday celebration)
January 8th-12 YC (Dh, Me, DD, my parents, WDW Marathon)

My sister has food allergies as well and was shocked at the amazing service she received at WDW. It's so nice to have the chef come out and chat with you about your concerns at TS. She felt comfortable the entire trip and easily find items to enjoy. It's hard with food allergies b/c there's a constant awareness that makes it challenging to relax. I get it! So glad your LO was able to enjoy his dessert!

Will do! (she types jealously)

;)

Thank you - you may add us!
YC Aug 22-25 before moving for 3 more days at GF

:welcome:

I will gladly add you to the Be Our Guest list.

:cool1:

Thanks for the info, I will try calling them today. I emailed the artist but I think he is actually at Art of Disney this week so he's probably way too busy to respond to his emails.

You can add our dates to the guest list if you want, we'll be there 8/26-9/2

Thanks for the clarification on your dates. I'll make the update.

:woohoo:

We'll be at the Beach Club from June 2nd to 7th! Can't wait! :D

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list, too.

:cheer2:

Hi everyone!
My husband and I stayed at the YC a few years back and loved it. So when we go in November, now with our daughter, we are going to stay there again.

I have a question.... My husband has degenerative back disease so we are looking to request a room close to the elevators, close to the lobby and with a water view. We know that these are only requests, but does anyone have any good suggestions on what rooms would fit these requests?

Official :welcome:

:wave2:

I just did my online check in for the Yacht Club. The option were

Lower Floor
Close to Transportation

I'm not exactly sure what we want having never been there so we left them blank. My only request was a day bed. It should be on there from when we booked.

Thanks for the info.

:thumbsup2

Hi! we're @ the YC club level now too. We're a out as far from the lounge as you can get. We have a great view, directly over the pool, the slide directly in front, the lake & Boardwalk in the distance. We don't mind the walk to the room coz it is so quiet down this end of the hall. With the sliding door closed, I hear no noise from the pool at all. There is a squeaky air conditioner that I can hear when I sit outside, but I can deal with it!

Our very full bus broke down on the way to MK this morning, just before the Contempoary. They had a new bus to us in just minutes (less than 5!). We still managed to get to MK & thru security in time for the opening! They did great getting a new bus there that quick. All the guests were calm & nonastiness from anyone.

We see hardly any love bugs at all but I did notice the flues around. I thought they were really bad in line for Pinochio & Jungle Cruise. Guess it is just surprising coz you just never see flies @ Disney!

We appreciate the live report! Sounds like a pretty decent trip so far!

:goodvibes

Dee, (as requested) BC Club Lounge has a balcony with two doors overlooking "Ariel's Courtyard" (so says the CM I made tell me all about it!). I took pictures I will forward you (if you send me an email, because I am not patient enough for photobucket). It's nothing fancy, no chairs but I bet they would bring you them if you asked.

May weather is gorgeous. The parks are wonderful. BC is magical. What a great vacation!!! I'm looking forward to writing a TR!

Thank you!!!

Yes, you can email me at beachclubdee at yahoo.com

Can't wait to read your report!

:thumbsup2

Less than 2 weeks to go for us and I do have some random questions, I havent read the whole thread, so excuse me if they have been answered before

1. Can we renew our annual passes at the resort or do we have to go to a park? Depending on that answer we will swim or get the passes. TIA

2. In regard to the flies - does bug spray with deet work, should I pack this and anti itch creme?

3. Internet access - how do we deal with this? In Dec. it was horrendous. Dh could never get connected. The only place he could work was the lobby and he really didnt want to do that as he has to talk on the phone for business and look at the screen etc. We also had another computer I tried and it was about useless for connecting as well I dont know if it was our location by the volleyball area or just general overall abysmal connections. I did write about this in my resort survey last time. It seemed all the questions they were asking were about the digital alarm clock in the room instead:confused3

4. This is club level stuff (I am the one who needs bottled water to take my meds). Would they give you bottled water if you asked at 5 pm. I did read you can ask for it in the morning to take to the parks, but I have to take some meds later when I eat dinner etc. so I would need it then too.

5, Another club questions - would it be considered bad manners or unacceptable if dh has his mickey travel mug and fills it up with the ice tea or cranberry juice I see pictured? Thinking he could take this with him as he is not a big soda person etc.

TIA.

1- Don't know, but I do know some people who post to this thread have renewed APs. Just can't remember what they did, but I think it involved a trip to the International Gateway Guest Services

2- Continue to monitor reports from the World. I am hoping the fly issue will be resolved sooner rather than later. It definitely seems like an unusual event. I can't believe I am going to type this...

"Limited Time Maggot"

3- I haven't heard recent complaints about the Wifi, which I take as positive news. How about it, folks who have been there recently- how is the computer service?

4- As soon as you visit the lounge for the first time, ask a CM for either a large bottle of Evian or a few smaller bottles of water to take back to your room

5- As long as the cup is clean, and does not touch the lip of the bottle or nozzle you are dispensing from, I don't see an issue. Or you can use a cup to fill his refill mug with ice and beverage.

Hope this helps.

:)

Photopass Question: Thinking of using this for the first time ever.....Has anyone here used it? Would you do it again? is it as convenient as it looks?
Did you register your Photopass card at BC?

And lastly, at the end of your trip WHAT do you do? Do you have to go to some guest relations place to turn in the card?

And lastly, lastly, what happens if we split up and both need the card?

Are you talking about regular photopass service or Photopass Plus with the ride photos?

We used the Photopass Plus card for our last trip. It was worth it to us because we had three families, which included the two grandchildren age 3 and 5, and were doing several meals that included pictures. The pictures are delivered to your table during the meal which made it nice. You also can get the ride pictures loaded to your photopass pictures.

You have to create an account on the Photopass website and put your PP number in to see your pictures. You can add additional regular photopass cards to your account, so if you forget to bring the PP+ card to the park but want to have a picture taken, just get a card from the photographer and add it to your account. You can also upload your personal pictures to the PP website, but be aware of the fact that you can't easily download them again. We made an album from both the professional pictures and our own, and it was really convenient. :)

I have no experience with PP+, so I appreciate this info.

As mentioned, you can have as many cards as necessary and add them all to your account.

*One important piece of advice* As soon as you receive a new card from a photographer, take a picture of the number on the back. You don't need the actual card when you are loading your pictures, so if you lose the card but still have the numbers, you haven't "lost" your photos.

:)

Gotta love someone who has never eaten the lobster rolls but isn't afraid to rate them:rotfl2::rotfl2::thumbsup2

and :lmao::scared1:on the "limited time maggot":scared1:

We love Photopass. We've used it before and have this trip too. Finally we have pictures of the whole family in some great spots!! You can activate it here at BC outside the Marketplace there is a kiosk from 5p-9p (which didn't work for us), or in the parks. We activated it in Epcot, at the Camera Center in the front of the park. They were helpful, gave tips and tricks in case we lost it and answered all our questions. If you get split up each photographer has cards they can give you with your photo scanned to it (same as your original card). Then later take both cards to the camera center and have them combined. Easy! :0)

3- Hurricane Hannah's- more of a "seafood roll", with shrimp and sometimes scallops joining the lobster. Cilantro mayo. Definitely not traditional New England style roll, but it sounds really yummy to me, however reports have been mixed.

Unless they've changed it, the mayo on the ones we had at HH had a light citrus flavor, definitely not cilantro. Kind of hard to describe, but not all lemon, lime or orange - kind of a combination.

Must be wishful thinking on my part. I love cilantro. I'll edit my post.

:)

We've done Photopass for two of our trips. Easiest when it's just been the two of us and we really had no "plans." One trip a photographer offered to follow us "around the world" because it was very slow and he admittedly told us he was "bored"
That was also a couple years ago. More recent trips, the lines for Photopass seem longer, but we intend on doing it again this year
Good luck!!

It has been a while since our last trip, but we did PP and were very happy with it. This trip we are planning to do PP+. The best thing for my family is that we are all in the picture together, which almost never happens. DH hates to have his picture taken, but will cooperate with the PP photographer. On our last trip, we were chosen a Grand Marshals for the Family Fun Parade at MK and they even put those photos on our PP.

I am reading the posts from all of you with trips soon with envy. We are 72 days out still, and it can't come fast enough! Wishing you all terrific trips.

BTW Dee, love your sense of humor...Limited Time Maggots....priceless!

Lobster Roll Review:
(from someone who has never had a lobster roll at Disney, but is not afraid to rate 'em anyway)

4- Columbia Harbor House- most reports are that this is just nasty. Swimming in mayo.

:confused3

shrimpandlobsterroll-2.jpg

2- Lobster roll sliders at Captain's Grille at lunch. Reports are that these are super yummy, but it takes the runner-up spot since this restaurant is not a QS location

*1* Boardwalk Bakery- from all of the reports I have read (2)- this is a clear winner! All lobster meat, perfect amount of mayo.

We need pictures, people!!!

.

:rotfl: well since you'll be there before me, you know what your job is :upsidedow with pic comparisons please!!!

Last trip I had to sleuth out the Sunken Treasure for NM :p or now known as Nutter :rotfl2:

Limited Time Maggots!!! Too funny.

We did it once, and glad we did, because it was the last time both my daughters were able to come together. Being 20 something all our schedules are difficult to mesh. But pic quality varied. We did have a good time doing it though. It became a game to see how many Photopass people we could find!

Hello everybuzzy,
Currently my families are vacationing in Walt's world but we are not happy with our current accommodations. We would like to know if the Yacht Beach would be a good place to hang out. We are especially interested in a dumpster view room as we are not on the dining plan. Why you have to call 180 days away from your vacation to decide where you want to nibble makes no sense to us flies so we couldn't get in to any of the fancy, fly friendly places.

We would also like to know if we have to bring our room keys to the pool. Since they are so large, lugging them around can prove to be a hardship on us flies. We were hoping they had those R F I D (Resort Fly I D) bracelets that we can put on our legs.

Another concern are the life jackets at the pool. Do they have ones small enough to fit our larva? If not we can just park them on a leaf and send them down the slide.

Thanks for all the great information on page 1 of this thread. I'm sorry if these questions have been asked by others flies staying at the resort but we are really busy buzzing around the parks and we don't have time to read the whole thread.

Big wet sloppy kisses..... from your friend Buzzy

In the tradition of being hospitable to all guests of the resort,

Um... :welcome:

I'll add you to the Bee Our Guest list. Are you one of those May flies that will only be enjoying the good life for a day or so?

:butterfly

I hate to be discouraging, but I think you may find a better fit over at the Poly, what with the volcano pool with flowing larva and all.

I can understand your reluctance to make your dining plans so far in advance- from what I am told, your kind is accustomed to winging it.

One bit of advice- the recommendation from this thread if you really want to get buzzed is the Sunken Treasure. I would like to suggest the Seafood roll, too, but the jury is still out on that one.

Well, I have been here since Saturday and I leave tomorrow. I was excited to stay at BC and see how they have changed since my last stay in 2008. Sadly, little has changed. I have received poor service and the rooms are very used (which to be fair is pretty typical of WDW).

My room wasn't ready at 3 and by 4, I still hadn't received a text so I went to the desk and found that my room was ready. They asked to update my keys since they were having lots of key problems. I got to my room and my key didn't work but my sisters did so I got in (she arrived by ME about 15" after i got to the room). It smelled like chemicals and every day I walk in, it smells like chemicals (not a cleaning agent smell). I called bell services and it took an hour to get my bags. But I was happy to be here so my sister and I went to Epcot. When we returned, neither key worked. We went to the front desk and got new keys. The thing is, it is not a quick process - they took a long time. We went back up and keys still don't work. I called from the hallway & they asked me to hold. I said no, just send someone up & they said ok. Well, no one ever came!! I went back down, waited in line again and then they had to go to the back and converse with a manager or someone and issue keys again. Finally, they came upstairs with me with the 'one' hotel master key. After numerous jiggling, we got in (even though our card keys didn't work since the whole locking mechanism was broken). She profusely apologized since this whole process took over an hour and said 'they would make it right' and leave new keys under the door so we could get some sleep.

Next morning - nothing. We waited until 10 am and a maintenance guy finally came. So much for getting on toy story mania that morning :(. And make it right?? No clue what she was talking about because there was never a call, note, or anything. Just inconvenience.

I understand these experiences can be isolated so let me review some other things-

Room - my room in 2008 was larger and had a daybed and I know not all rooms have one but this room feels smaller than the one I stayed in at Coronado springs. I'm glad it is only me (&my sister for 3 of the nights). I wouldn't like this for my family of 4. The room itself is pretty worn, the fan makes a thunking noise (not calling maintenance again- my time is precious), and the bathroom sprinkler is incredibly rusted. I do not like sinks outside of the bathroom but I knew this when I booked the room. But if moderate hotels can put wood panels or curtains, why don't they do that at BC?

Getting around - the location to Epcot and the other hotels is amazing! Trying to get around in the hotel is limited. Very few elevators and less stairs. I was told there were no stairs to get to my room since they were 'cast member' areas but not to worry since they would be open in the event of a fire (great). This makes you reliant on waiting for heavily used elevators if you aren't on the ground floor.

Hurricane Hannah's - I was so happy to see the expanded menu and the service was so much better than my last visit. I had the new bacon/cheese/apple butter sandwich. The bread gets too soggy and while it tastes unique, it fell apart due to the sogginess and needed something lighter to balance the rich, heavy taste.

Beach club marketplace still has a limited menu. I have walked to Boardwalk Bakery for 3 meals - it is that good!

Storm along Bay - happy to report I could easily find open chairs most likely due to the implementation of the wristbands. The slide closed as I waited in line for it so I didn't try it (maybe today?) I'm still not keen on the pool set up though. It is like walking through a maze to get anywhere and I still wouldn't want to watch my kids at this pool due to how it is spread out. It's ok for good swimmers 11 & older maybe.

Parking - I have been fortunate to find close parking and am pleased this is possible since I typically have to park far away at Disney hotels.

Transportation - this can be hit or miss at ANY Disney hotel but I am happy to say I only waited 10 minutes once & that is still great. Most waits have been under 2"!

Movie at night - this is still one of the best parts. Chill and watch a movie, roast marshmallows, grab a drink and food at Hurricane Hannah's, and see fireworks from 2 parks. But, it wasn't going last night - some private party last night :(

All in all- I might consider staying in the villas for the 1 bdr and bathroom set up but I am really upset by the lack of customer service here. I stay frequently at Disney hotels and even more so elsewhere since I travel so much for business and this hotel is not earning its deluxe status so far.

I know many of you are fans and I can understand if my experience is unique. It is not what has happened to me but how they have dealt with it (or rather not dealt with it) that disappoints me.

Funny, there were chairs there last May! I sat out there and watched the sun rise one morning (time difference was on my side plus I sleep badly anywhere but home).

Yes we are fans........of good service. Please let management know of your problems. I know the key problems aren't resort specific (we've had the same problem at BCV's, BLT's and SSR) but you certainly should chime in with any and all concerns.

What a shame. So sorry your vacation is missing the magic. We travel quite a bit and pretty much roll with any situation, but a room key that doesn't work is really inexcusable, especially 3 times!! That is crazy. We had that happen to us at the Grand Canyon last year and we had to hike back and forth to our room then wait in line to try and get it corrected, twice. I nearly lost my mind. I sure hope they do "make it right". If you have some time this afternoon you might just stroll down and ask to speak to the manager and tell them your concerns.

I found your report to be informative and helpful. I hope the rest of today and tomorrow are better for you.

I know many of you are fans and I can understand if my experience is unique. It is not what has happened to me but how they have dealt with it (or rather not dealt with it) that disappoints me.

Thanks for your review. I'm sorry to hear about the issues you are dealing with- I can understand how very frustrating it is to deal with the issues with your keys, and not getting any resolution or acknowledgement of your inconvenience!

I will comment on two of the things you mentioned, and while it is probably too late to help you out, you have pointed out a couple of issues that others may encounter:

"We'll text you when your room is ready"- I can't tell you how many times I have read on this thread, and in peoples trip reports (other resorts) how many times guests have waited for this text that never comes. See if you can get a number to call yourself, to see if your room is indeed ready or better yet, check with the front desk yourself.

The second thing has to do with "calling down to the front desk". I'm not positive, but I think your call goes to an offsite call center, not to the actual front desk at the resort. That doesn't give them an excuse to lie and say "someone will be right there" and then they don't show up/leave you hanging, but I do think most people have more success going to the front desk yourself.

ETA- I just reread your report and it sounds like you did go down to the front desk a couple of times and still got a poor response!

Once again, I'm sorry you are having a less than magical stay so far and I hope there is an improvement for the rest of your trip!

:goodvibes

Yes we are fans........of good service. Please let management know of your problems. I know the key problems aren't resort specific (we've had the same problem at BCV's, BLT's and SSR) but you certainly should chime in with any and all concerns.

Great advice, although since she is still at the resort, I agree with 1coolnini who advised to go to the front desk and ask for a manager to discuss what happened.

...love everyone's humor on the flies :). Just had to say it.

In the tradition of being hospitable to all guests of the resort,

Um... :welcome:

I'll add you to the Bee Our Guest list. Are you one of those May flies that will only be enjoying the good life for a day or so?

I hate to be discouraging, but I think you may find a better fit over at the Poly, what with the volcano pool with flowing larva and all.

I can understand your reluctance to make your dining plans so far in advance- from what I am told, your kind is accustomed to winging it.

One bit of advice- the recommendation from this thread if you really want to get buzzed is the Sunken Treasure. I would like to suggest the Seafood roll, too, but the jury is still out on that one.

Dee - :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: Love your replies!!
